Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
Love box sets for easy rereading and as this is definitely a series to reread, what more can I say. Read through Kindle Unlimited. 4 - FIREFIGHTER SEADRAGON Really enjoyed this story so much. Neridia was a sweetheart and I loved how she came into her own at the end. Head high and regal, taking her due. John was so cute, old world charm and manners and fighting his feelings for Neridia. Very good story with a great baddie and lots of action with Alpha team, even though a lot of this happened in Atlantis. Loved the epilogue and the ending with John’s sister Jane and Reiner. 5 - THE MASTER SHARK’S MATE I am really enjoying this series but I am getting impatient to read Commander Ash’s story and we still have Hugh to go. Although this story doesn’t have the shifters from Fire & Rescue, it does have John and the Empress Neridia. The Master Shark's Mate crosses over between the Shifting Sands and Fire and Rescue Shifters series. I have not read the Shifting Sands series so it meant nothing to me but I will be looking into it. We met the Master Shark in the previous Fire and Rescue book 4 but he isn't part of that crew. We have Martha who is a coyote alpha, a lovely more mature heroine which I loved. The fact Martha is a coyote that loves the desert and fate has paired her with the Master Shark, Finn, I found cute. I was interested to see how the author would sort this problem out but Ms Chant has done so in a believable and interesting way. Martha's pack have saved to send her on vacation to the Shifting sands resort as a special treat. Having been happily married to a human for 30 years and widowed for ten, finding her mate comes as a hell of a shock. Believing it is wrong to be happy again, Martha tries to keep away from Finn. Finn’s character is aloof, broody and all alpha but it hides who he really is and I loved that Martha bought that softer side out in him. The Master Shark has been sent by the Empress, against his wishes, on vacation to the Shifting Sands resort. Seeing Martha and realising she is his mate is also a shock but one he is happy to explore. Except he thinks Martha is running from him because of who he is. Martha has no idea who he is which I thought was great. Martha was going to give up her mate and living in Atlantis as the pack needed her. After getting smacked around by John for sulking instead of going after his mate, Finn arrives in Arizona to help fix the problem that had Martha running home. I found this to be a truly heart-warming read as these two different souls find happiness and a good compromise for being together, with a little help from the Empress. Loved the teaser for book 6. 6 - FIREFIGHTER UNICORN This really is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Anger, sadness, tears and worry, all of course ending with happiness. Really loved how this played out between Hugh and Ivy, not to mention Ivy’s younger sister Hope. Requisite baddie truly was horrible but I did laugh at the protection offered by someone high up. All in all one of Ms Chants better books. Seeing that Ash and I believe Rose’s story is coming soon, I cannot wait to read it and see what reason was good enough to abandon and leave one’s mate. 7 - FIREFIGHTER PHOENIX I dislike stories that jump back and forward in time but this story needed to be told that way. There are so many things to love about this story and one thing that vexed me no end. A very emotional story full of pain, grief, heartache and what also felt like betrayal by Ash. Poor Rose, left for twenty years with the haunting grief of a supposed lost mate. It was cruel of Ash to do that. Not sure if I applaud Blaze’s/Ash’s actions or want to hit him. He wasted all that time and removed Rose’s memories, and it all turned out to be for no good reason. It didn’t change anything or save Rose in the end. Poor Rose, 20 years of her life gone by without her mate. Why wasn’t Ash still searching for Corbin rather than being the fire chief for the last ten years? Twenty years wasted so these two are now in their 40’s and have lost so much time and the chance for more children. These shifters seem to age the same as humans which seems strange and we are given a pregnancy to pacify us. Though I really loved this story, I was also a bit vexed at the plot. Just seemed to be too easy and convenient at times. What have the Warlocks been doing for the last twenty years, not going without the power of shifters I would think but no one has picked up on this. Ice and Ash hunted them but knew they had not killed them all but only for the first ten years. Loved going to Shifting Sands Resort though we really don’t spend any time there. Loved that the wendigo Ice had his mate in the ocelot Miriam and what Ash was able to do for her. Loved having the Master Shark involved. The epilogue was very intriguing but I hate jumping 23 years into the future and having the children not even born yet being the next generation.
I was on a Sci Fi binge now I am on a Paranormal shifter binge and that is how I came across Zoe's books. Once I find an author whose books I like I will read them all and let me tell you Zoe has a lot. They are quick and easy reads. Some serious some make me laugh but all have danger and fated mates. I enjoy paranormal stories as they take you away from everyday life and anything goes. 1 like
Firefighter Sea Dragon Political intrigue, fated mates, and more sea dragons than you can shake a stick at. Does it get any better than this? John’s charming cluelessness about affairs on dry land have been a source of amusement for me throughout the previous books. Discovering that the rest of his sea dragon kin have the same blind spots, meant certain scenes in this book left me howling with laughter. I loved Neridia. She so perfectly embodies the concept of “fish out of water” in all its many forms and facets in this story. I’m not entirely sure I understood her initial resistance to her destiny, but I am reminded of the saying “glorious destinies get glorious funerals,” and can more readily accept why she might have been fighting it. I thought these two were absolutely adorable together. And after where the ending takes them, I can’t wait to discover what’s next. The Master Shark's Mate Oh my gosh! I never thought I’d ever say that a giant prehistoric shark was cute, but that’s exactly what Finn and Marth’s story was: incredibly stinking cute! My heart broke as they contemplated all the challenges of blending their dry land and underwater lives, balancing their commitments, and honoring their pasts. Because, those things all seemed set to capsize this relationship before it even had a chance to blossom. I loved this opportunity to discover the man behind the Master Shark, and sassy, feisty Martha is the perfect match to keep him humble. Firefighter Unicorn Bright heavens, these two tried to rip the still beating heart from my chest. Hugh and Ivy would not have been a pair that I would logically put together, but they were absolutely perfect. They had an understanding of what the other was going through that nobody else did. It broke my heart to watch them struggle. And, in a lot of ways, it was the desperate need to know how they would overcome the giant complication between them that made me devour this book. I HAD to know how their Happily Ever After would be possible. With one un-mated member of the fire team left, I can’t wait to find out what it’ll take to crack that tough nut Firefighter Phoenix We’ve watched this pair pine for one another through all the previous books. We’ve picked up hints that all may not be as simple between them as it’s been for the other mated couples. And that’s just maybe underselling it by several factors. The reasons Ash and Rose had been separated completely broke my heart. The same with the reasons that Ash continued to keep his distance. This story kept me glued to the pages, anxiously waiting for the final confrontation and to see how they’d bring all the broken pieces back together. I also kind of loved the introduction to the next series, and can’t wait to sink my teeth into it.
This series is very over rated. The first three are more overrated than this set. While the stories aren't bad, they could be better. Some of the animal shifters seem ridiculous. What good is an octopus shifter? I guess he could squeeze people. There is a world of shifters below the sea. Atlantis is a place and the sea dragon is the queen. So in that sense, a shark shifter makes sense but, on land, a shark shifter is pretty worthless.
The plots are OK. I do like almost all of the characters. I was disappointed Hugh ended up with Ivy but I liked her more than I thought I would. The story yanks us all over the place when it comes to Hugh's animal. I found it to be a little irritating. I can't explain it without a major spoiler.
There are definitely aspects of her shifter world that I like. Packs can mind speak to one another. Shifters whose beasts are mystical creatures can mind speak to other regardless of pack. That little caveat seemed unnecessary. Shifters are not known to humans. As we learned in the first set of books, the Queen of England is a dragon shifter and the British museums are her hoarde. I found that quite amusing.
The books did get better. The first book with Dai was short and not as well written. They show growth in the author. The last book was the longest one. Although, I found the plot of that book to be a little frustrating as well. However, the situation he grew up in was kind of interesting. A group of warlocks had complete control over some shifters. They had the shifters convinced they were unstable without the warlocks' control. It was quite clever.
The epilogue of book 7 was one for the series. It is 23 years later and one of the male children of this group is building a forest fire fighting team that will work in the US. It is, of course, be an all shifter team. I am going to give the first one in that series a try.
One last frustration...I really prefer romance books to be written in first person dual pov. I was so happy when the author switched to that for book 3. I was very disappointed when I began this set to find she had gone back to third person again.
I wouldn't give this a glowing recommendation but it is a decent set of stories about shifters. I like her world better than a lot of other shifter worlds. But I do caution you to go into this series expecting truly 5 star books.
Okay so firstly, I was wrong about my guess as to who Ivy would end up with but was right about Ash’s tragic past.
I really like John Doe as a character but I’m sad to say that I didn’t love his book. It just felt like a book where he steamrolls through everyone (except the obvious bad guy) including his mate for the sake of HIS honour. It didn’t matter what Neridia wanted. The master shark guy was cool and Neridia found her strength eventually. I lived Hugh arriving and being like “can’t ONE of you get injured in a normal way”.
Now Master Shark with Finn and Martha I loved. First of all, I have never read a book with his type of shifter and I loved it. “Are we going to see any whales on this trip? No.” I loved his stoicism compared to Martha’s exuberance. I also haven’t read a story about a widow finding their mate. I liked it. It warmed my heart and then the way they were able to stay together worked out beautifully.
Book 3 is Hugh and Ivy’s story. I thought Hugh had it bad when he was just in pain all the time as an empath but no he got loaded with a pile of shit honestly. So did Ivy. I mean she’s in close to the same boat in that she can’t touch anyone. Her inner wyvern is brutal and amusing somehow while Hugh’s unicorn seems to exude peace. It’s awful that he lost is unicorn for a while and for them to contemplate what Ash said but I’m glad the story worked out as it did in the end.
The last book is Ash and Rose’s book. I had originally thought that he would end up with the Wyvern but Rose has played a not infrequent roll so I wasn’t shocked when it was her, nor to hear that he had burned the bond. The reason why was a surprise as was the final battle. I was not expecting warlocks. I love how all the women including the VERY pregnant women charged (waddled” into battle to free their men. They did it with such style. The epilogue has led me to decide to read wildfire firefighters. When I first saw the books (before the epilogue) I kind of rolled my eyes like wow more of the exact same types of shifters but knowing it’s their kids makes a whole new spin I’m interested in.
I think getting to read books in sets, series or partial grouping is the most awesome thing ever! The second half of the series was great with lots of funny moments, lip clenching and deep belly laughs and a few tears to go with it all! I loved that each shifter found their true mate and stayed as part of the Alpha crew. Best part of all is that the second generation is all grown up and have their own series! Finally an author that doesn’t leave you hanging with all the what if’s and what happens with the second generation! I’m very excited to highly recommend this book and series to everyone! Hope you all like it as much as I did!
The draw of fire is universal, whether it be literal or sensual. You will find both in this series. The imagination of the author is endless, and literally fantastic. I strongly recommend the series. There is,however, one thing I would like to point out to the author: Her denouement of the stories often remind me of an old parody of storyline finishes: "..., and they all floated to land on an iron stove." Which is to say that it would do the books well to give a bit more background on the development. It is a bit sudden when it is done in a page and a half. However, the author's books are supremely entertaining and highly recommended.
The writer has matured so much from the original series to this one. The original series was wonderful, but a little short storyish. This collection is full on novels. Amazing imagination and wonderfully painted world. I loved every single one. I read them all in a week I couldn’t put them down.
I am so eager to pick up the next wildfire series. I loved that she continues with the next gen. Absolutely fantastically written.
Spoilerish: I absolutely LOVE Joe and how imaginably different he is from what you’d expect. A real rebel which isn’t what you’d expect! And Cal too!! I can’t wait to get know the girl better too!! Squueee! So excited!
Zoe Chant continues her delightful fantasy in book set 2 Fire and Rescue Shifters, with the stories of the rest of the Essex Fire & Rescue team of mythical shifters. If dragon's, Griffins and Pegusus were not enough the second box set includes sea dragon's, prehistoric sharks, unicorns and finally the Phoenix. There is much more mystery and suspense involved with finding their true mates. Oh and their mates, are an even stronger bunch of female main characters then in the first set. Once again, Zoe Chant has introduced us to a beautiful world with fabulous characters that are enchanting from beginning to end. I never want to leave Essex Fire and Rescue! I am convinced you won't want to either.
Wow! Just wow! This Series was the most awesome read ever! Everyone of these books was magnificent, heart warming, emotional, action packed, drama drama...lol, romantic and great characters with great personalities, filled with laugher and family bonds. The heroianes and heros where magnificent in there own stories and crossed over to everyone in this u ending series. CiffHagger! Yes we see at the end the there IS MORE, SOO LATZ I WILL BE GETTI G THE NEXT BOX SET WILD FIREFIGHTERS!
This series, and especially this part of it, is amazing. I don't have words to describe, but it pulls you in like no other. I enjoy a lot of books, but I haven't come across a series that blotted out the outside world and created a world and characters that were so all encompassing so as to lose myself completely. I don't want to be done and am so sad I am. I hope the series following their kids is just as amazing.
All 4 of these stories were great. I feel like each story was better than the last. When I read the last set of stories in the series, the first few were good but predictable. That is no longer the case. The stories kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop reading (I really couldn’t, I kept staying up till 3 am!) I look forward to the next book and I also plan to find the series from Shifting Sands. Great series!
Wow another great, descriptive and riveting stories which balances out the shifters and humans in Fire and Rescue Shifters. They certainly work very well together with little twists and turns while they navigate their mate ship bonds with each other and their mates. The story regarding the characters are intertwined together as they battle against those set out to destroy their mates and their bonds. It’s great to see
Definitely got a fantastic imagination has our Zoe, yet another excellent book. Only one thing, book 7 was brilliant but, got a bit fanciful near the end. I know a book comes from an author's mind and books about shifters, as far as I'm aware, are pure fiction, but it did have a very weird ending. Still a good book though Sue P
I read all 7 books and am about to start the next series that follows the shifter kids. I really enjoyed all of the book but was disappointed in the last book about the Phoenix. I had trouble getting into the storyline and found myself skimming through the parts from the past. That being said, I didn’t think I would but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Such a brilliant read, I couldnt stop reading, made me laugh, cry and get angry too. I like that the stories have a thriller and suspense side to them too, keeps you wanting to find out more... In these wierd times, these books really make you feel that you are in a different world, with them. Thank you
I "met" the writings of Zoe Chant in Wildfire Griffin! Read the WHOLE WILDFIRE series - it's awesome! SO glad to read the stories of their parents! Equally as awesome these stories draw you in, btw LOVED the twist re: Reiner & Jane!! OMG! THAT was "fun"! Thank you for your time, talent and THE STORIES!
Absolutely loved ashes story and how it depending back in time and the next chapter would put into place the missing "now" part. John's story was great and my heart jumped when she found her destiny . Didn't really think the shark masters story had any real point because it's only mentioned once in the bother books. But a really good read non the less.
As thus world grew, so did the stories. Each story becoming more in depth And complex. The couples on these stories were not mythical meeting their human mates, but mythical meeting their shifter mates, with much on the line. Great stories, good execution. Looking forward to meeting the next generation.
Zoe Chants books are amazing. Entertaining, and hard to put down, these books are full of mythical creatures, amazing people and a new world of shifters that leaves you wondering if they truly exist. The possibilities are endless. The writing is well done and a joy to read. You won’t be disappointed!
Great collection of stories about mythic shifters. Wonderfully created original characters with bittersweet stories. Who would think a giant prehistoric shark shifter could be so beautifully empathetic and touching. Constant surprises both in plots and conclusions. Amazing how they all come together. Terrific collection.
I really enjoyed this series it grabs your attention from the first page to the last. Loved every minute of this series and I'm so glad that it doesn't end with this series .
Great characters. Fun plot twists. Romance galore. Every book in this series could stand alone but taken together they created a world that I'd really love to visit!
I enjoyed following the entire fire crew of shifters through their trials and tribulations. I read both sets that explain what each shifter and the stories that followed them.
I really enjoyed reading about the Couples in this Boxset very much. Loved the happy ever after stories of each of the Couples. Thank you for writing these stories.
I enjoyed the books as they were a continuation of each fire fighters life and finding their mate. The stories are all different but having the same characters and how they found their happy ever after was enjoyable reading.
Reading about the whole Alpha Team was a great way to spend the last few days. The final story with Ash and Rose was the best at story building. Leaving you with a taste of what the Alpha Team's grown children are heading into is the best way to find my next read.
It is hard to choose between these books, they were all excellent. The plot behind the characters were amazing, entertaining and thrilling. A real page turner, I did not want to put the books down. Zoe Chant is an excellent author.
I love this series! Each of the characters have their own problems getting their HEA, but the team pulls together every time. The finale is epic though! All the mates are just as fierce as the men!
