People deal with trauma in different ways.

When some people, say, learn that they’re about to turn into an insanely powerful monster destined to enslave or devour everyone around them, they might turn to prayer. Others may meditate, or join a support group, or start a blog, or beg ominous secret Orders to help them escape their fate.

And then there are those who lose their heads completely. Who become suicidal, flee across continents, befriend their enemies, antagonize their friends, burn their bridges, get into street fights, kiss the wrong people, practice ancient magics, and cause major international incidents.

Hmm. Guess what type Jess will turn out to be?

This is the third book in the Dark Dragon Chronicles.

Different and hard to put down

I read a lot of book, one almost every day to every other day. Most of the books follow.very similar.patterns and lore. This book and series is.refreshing as that it is so different. I didn't review the first two so this is really a review of the first 3 books. The story starts with Jess, who is an orphan who was being raised by friends of her mother's in a very different setting the where she was initially raised. Jess was not what high school kids would call ordinary, but she won rd like someone i would have been friends with in high school. One of the kids who didn't join cliches and has a few, different friends. But she goes to the popular kids parties even though they tease and bully her. Then Jess starts to slowly find out this about herself that are different and have been hidden from her. One of the things that I loved, though it was frustrating (I couldn't stop reading, ever,to find things out) was that as a reader,I found out what was going on about the same time Jess did. She was made to.forget things at times that we were told, but we weren't always told what she was made to forget. The magic system is completely different than other bookends read and so it Jess. I love the fact that it doesn't follow what other authors have done. It seems like everyone lies to Jess and every time I thought she had someone she could trust,it seems like that person has been or did betray her in some way. This book ends making wonder what the person she feels safest with in the world has been hiding from her. The book is well written,it's characters are well developed and there seems to.be no.end to surprised about what is happening currently, since you can't always tell what is really going on then or in the past. You don't know who to trust. And it's amazing Jess hasn't had a co.posts breakdown yet due to all.of the lying, enthralling and miscommunication she has been given. Then there is the fact she obviously has late from the way she lost her mom so.She doesn't even think to question the right things or.people. This is one book I can say that the main character might have made mistakes but they aren't ones that I'm screaming in my head what she should have done. Because this book is so different and her life.is so crazy I don't know what she should have done in most of the situations. I normally figure books out within chapters,I can call a movie in 15 mins, my husband was missed i figured out who Kaiser soshay(can't spell) in the usual suspects in less than 15 mins. I started watching the tv show the wilds yesterday and within 15 mins already had it figured out he told me. But not this book. It keeps surprising me. Every time I think someone is good or bad, they change, every time I th I k i figure out the magic and what's happening in the book,New info shows diff. And the poor main character, who is about 17, is living that craziness. This is a wonderful series. My review may sound like criticism but all of these things are.good and make the series unique and addictive. I haven't been getting my work done or enough sleep so I could read a book and a quarter of more a day. I can't wait for the next book. I am very intrigued. I also want to see what else this author has written. All books start to run together but with slightly different spins on a few groups of magic type.categories. The ones that are different, don't last for long necessities there are 20 more that imitate them. I read a series once and the next series i read was almost the same exact story with different names and powers. People are valuing quantity over quality and being unique and creative. Writing a book is an art form and the way some of these series are put out it takes away from the creative process. But every once in while I find something like this,a new indie author that writes books like no other. And I love it. I found most my favorite authors the same way. I can't wait for book 4 and I am so glad that I stumbled upon your books. My kindle won't let.me.re-read this so I apologize for the typos and if it didn't sounds right,I like to re-read what I right, but in well. I really just wanted to make sure to review this book. I usually don't since I read so much and in a series I want the next one so bad I skip.reviewing it. I try to and I can, but this one sucked me in till I was forced to stop so you could right more. Thank you for the wonderful new ideas and the story. Can't wait to find out what happens with the next book, I will.he keeping an eye out for it.

The story seems to get very confusing. One minute she is a dragon with powers the next she loses her powers. then she gets her power back after she gets beat up. With all the illusionist it is very confusing.

Next book?

One of the best series I’ve read in a really long time. But it’s been over 1 yr and no fourth book.

Waste of time

I read these books and it's three days I won't get back. These books are ramblings bits of story and I lost the plot.

Twists and turns

The story has so many different twist and turns that I can see why Jess is so confused. The journey is very intriguing.

Jess continues in her journey to find out who she really is.

When reading alternate scenarios for fantasy creatures, being a Nurse Practitioner, it has to make sense. Be that by scientific fact, logical sequences, or a rule that magic must always follow, there needs be ground rules to make a good story believable. This series has the depth of character and strength of visual storytelling to suck you into the book until you've read every last word. I've really enjoyed the story, and intellectual stimulation to go along with it.

Enthralling read!

This third book is as entrancing a read as the prior two books! I had real trouble tearing myself away from the story for even the shortest time. The characters are engaging and the story line weaves myth, legends, and the modern world to form a cohesive whole.
