Receiving a frantic call from her friend Alice, Julia McComas packs her bags and heads to a ranch in Texas where she encounters critters, cows, and a handful of handsome cowboy brothers. Her presence interrupts their daily routine, and one brother in particular makes his annoyance well known: Graham.
As the oldest of seven brothers, Graham Hastings takes his role as leader of the family business seriously. Not only does he keep the family ranch running, but he also keeps a tight rope on all his brothers. But when Julia McComas winds up living in his guest house, her presence shakes up more than just ranch life. It shakes up his heart.
Can Julia learn the ways of the ranch?
Can Graham let go of the reins enough to let love into his heart?
I sat here for about five minutes trying to think of something prolific to write, and all I came up with was that first sentence. However, despite it being simple and understated, it's a genuine response. I appreciate all who read and listen to my books. And for those who rate and review it, a special thanks to you. Happy Reading! Katharine

I liked the story of a rough cowboy being tamed by a city slicker female. They only have a couple weeks to get to know each other. I the only thing that bothered me was she never seems to tell Graham how she feels about him. Julia is kind. A bit clueless in the beginning of the book. And a bit prissy. But she is a likeable character. But she seems to let Graham be the one to put himself out there.
This is my first time reading this author and for the most part, I really enjoyed the story. I typically stick to Christian romance, so even though this was very clean, there seemed to be an excessive amount of references to alcohol. But that said, it was a great story! My favorite scene was when Graham surprised Julia at her work 💝💐
The ending fell a little short for me, so I'll read Calvin's story next, and hopefully there will be a wedding scene for Julia and Graham.
Graham Graham and Julia Book one in the series. This was a new author for me. It was a very sweet, clean romance. Graham and Julia. Country vs. City. He was the typical grumpy, oldest brother, in charge of the large Texas family ranch. She was the typical “city” girl (she’s from Santa Fe). Works in a museum, likes her fancy clothes and shoes. Overall this was a nice story. But I struggled with it. The writing was hard to follow. It’s told in multiple points of view, but sometimes you have no idea who is actually speaking. I had to back up and re-read several times, just to figure out who was in the scene and might be speaking. I just never felt a connection with Graham and Julia. He rarely speaks, and when he does it’s to bark orders. He’s attracted to her, but doesn’t do much to pursue her. The reader is told of all of the hours and hours of phone conversations they have, but it’s all off page. I would have liked more of them getting to know each other. There were several times I got a “Seven Brides, For Seven Brothers” vibe from the story. Julia is told they are good boys, just a bit rough around the edges, in need of a woman’s influence to straighten them up. Oldest brother falling first, hoping she’ll stick around and help with the ranch…. Maybe it was just me. I really liked the characters. All of the characters. Graham’s six brothers, his housekeeper; Annie, the owner of the diner; Ruby (Sloppy), and the local vet and Julia’s best friend; Alice. All add their own brand of color to the story. I loved the cover, it was beautiful and drew me immediately to the book. It was a quick easy read. Definitely PG-13. Zero drama. No cursing, no sex. A few kisses. They do eventually work around logistics and end up in the same state at the end, with promises for a future together. It wasn’t a bad story, just not the right story for me. If you are looking for a clean, simple romance, with good church going boys, these cowboys might just be for you.
This book is an interesting read about life itself and the interaction of family while working a Texas ranch. Having lost their parents, Graham, being the oldest brother, took the reins to make this ranch profitable, build a home for each brother, give jobs to the brothers in the role he could best serve, plus, worked every day to keep the family together. Annie was the special person who often cooked, always cleaned and had spent many years literally raising this group of men. The local Veterinarian, Alice, asked her friend Julia in New Mexico, to join her in a town near this ranch and help solve some problems. Julia, the city girl, learned quickly that she was out of her depth of knowledge as eggs were gathered, huge meals were cooked, horses were trained and cattle were branded. It’s an amazing story-line that can be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys a clean book.
Graham: The Brothers of Hastings Ranch Series Book 1 is by Katherine E. Hamilton. The seven brothers live and work on The Hastings Ranch. It was left to them at a young age when their parents both died. And Graham took over to keep the ranch running and viable. As a result, he became overbearing and grouch at times. He doesn’t seem to have any emotions. Julia McComas was a long-time friend of vet Alicia Wilkinson. When Alicia called her to come to Parks, Texas, Julia did as asked. When Alicia’s house turns out to be almost uninhabitable, she is invited to stay at the Hastings Ranch with Alicia. While here, she gets to know Graham and finally agrees to marry him. The book is cute and is lovely to read. I like that there are no overt love scenes.
Graham and Julia You had me at cowboy. Who doesn’t love a great romance on the ranch with a cowboy, unless you are a city girl who doesn’t care for bugs and critters reg cup of coffee. What a great jumpstart in the beginning to get you started. This is a clean romance and you know what? I was so engrossed in the romance that I forgot that it doesn’t get down and dirty. So if you are up for romance and cowboys and ranch style this is for you. Did I mention there are many other brothers? James Chatham did a wonderful narration on this. Sisters Spotlight 💕
This was a really great story of Graham, the oldest Hastings brother. Alice was the Vet for their area. Her friend, Julia, came to stay two weeks with her. They were old college friends. They met her first night in Sheffield, all of the Hasting brothers. Will Julia enjoy her vacation and possibly find true love? A must read, you will not be sorry.
Katherine is a new to me author. I absolutely loved this book. So much so I’ve bought the next two books and preordered the third! This is a wonderful series with a big family of brothers and wonderful cast of their townsfolk and friends. The story flowed so easily and I felt I knew them all and could vision the scenery so easily. I fantastic start to a wholesome and sweet small town, big family series.
I can think of several “swoon” worthy moments in this charming cowboy romance, that had me longing for my own cowboy. There’s nothing sexier than bringing a big grumpy cowboy to his knees by a beautiful city girl. Fantastic storyline and fun characters. James Cheatham is an amazing narrator who really captured the attitudes and personalities of these characters. This is book 1 with an HEA! I recommend this book.
This is such a sweet story about a young lady who visits her friend and falls in love with Graham. I love the way the author described each character which I gather are further stories in the series. It was a easy and simple plot girl meets boy they fall in love. The description of the ranch life and every day things they did made it interesting to me. It wasn’t just a fluff ranch story.
This was my first time reading a book by Katharine Hamilton and it won't be my last. This is the love story of city girl, Julia, and country boy, Hamilton. The characters were great and I liked the way Julia was able to break through the tough exterior that Hamilton displayed most of the time. Her goal was to get him to smile. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a good clean romance.
Great read about a family ranch and it’s brothers who run it. The characters are great and love the dynamics of how different they are from one another. They run the family ranch together yet are as different as night and day with their personalities. All get quite a surprise as a new visitor arrives in their little Texas town and shakes up the entire dynamics of the family.
Graham and Julia's first meeting doesn't go so well. I always love how two people who just don't seem to get along or like each other change their tune. Really sweet listen and so enjoyed getting to know the brothers, Alice, Annie, Julia and several others. I was worried toward the end but we get our hea. Looking forward to Alice's book. Really liked the narrator's voice when he was telling the story. His males voices were better than his female ones.
Cute story of one grumpy brother who watches over his brothers and taking care of their ranch. A city gal comes to visit her friend who is a Vet and works sometimes with Graham and his brothers. When Julia comes to visit she stirs up the life of Graham and his brothers. Especially Graham! Of course, all things work out and the story ends with good things.

Wonderful story and characters. I love the setting and the way all the characters interact. The Hastings family acts just as ornery as my own family does and I felt at home with how they behave. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this story to any reader that likes cowboys and feisty women!
Great read! This is a story that will make you laugh. Enjoyed the story line and would suggest to anyone to read. I gave the rating of 5, because I couldn’t put it down. This is one of the first books I’ve read in a long time that doesn’t need any grammatical changes to it. You will not be disappointed in reading this story.
A new author to me Katharine Hamilton has a sweet, enjoyable writing style. Loved this first book in The a Brothers of Hastings Ranch series. It is well written and once you start you don't want to stop reading. Great dialog among all the characters. Totally entertaining.
Julie is going to spend some much needed vacation time with her best friend who is the veterinarian in Parks, Texas. She meets Graham when she ends up being the cause of an accident in which he is involved. Read how the city girl falls for the cowboy.
Prepare for a strong batch of stereotypical cowboys
This book kind of meandered along. The book summary explains everything one would need to know about it. So if you read it, buckle in for the quiet, serious MMC and the girly FMC along with lots of stereotypical cowboy language.
This is my first book by this author...and it won't be my last. Great characters and story, fast paced. Good romance, looking forward to the next one in the series.
I love a good, strong, cowboy family book and this one did not disappoint. I highly recommend this book and now I am on to the next one in the series. It is fun to watch how the cowboy falls.
Graham is a sweet and clean cowboy romance that hits all the marks. It has tender moments, fun and snarky banter, and well developed and interesting characters. It is very well performed by the narrator. I’m definitely going to be looking for more by this author AND the performer.
First time reading this Author, and she has a new fan here. I loved this book, it was really awesome. She kept me interested from the get go. Sweet love story. I highly recommend this book.
Enjoyed reading about Graham and Julia. Julia came to visit her friend who was a vet. She was working at the 7H Ranch run by Graham and his 6 brothers. Lots of fun, excitement and family
A beautiful, sweet, heartfelt story. Written with a feeling of close family and good friends. A story that makes you believe in love and a family closeness that is no longer seen in today's society. I can't wait to start on the next book in the series.
Seven brothers, the oldest works hard at keeping the family and ranch working well. She comes to visit, hurts the hand of Graham the oldest. They hit it off but both are hesitant to move on with a relationship. But love works wonders on shy men and wary women.
Could tell by the second page I was going to enjoy the book. No dragging on to stretch a story. No back story which was fantastic...loved it read the whole book within a few hours.
My interest was engaged immediately. I had doubts but Graham the grouch and Julia the beautiful caught my attention immediately! This story was a five star clean enjoyable read!
This is a good story about a working ranch owned by seven brothers. The local vet has her city best friend come for a visit. Of course there is drama with the vet's house. This leads them to stay a the ranch. These are neat characters and clean short story.
I loved how I could relate to this book because I am dating a cowboy now as well and we have discussed the future many times. I also love that I personally know the author and it made me proud to read her work.
