Limited Time Release! Contains ALL 18 books from both series featuring Nora Newberry & Milburn, Wyoming PLUS 18 delicious recipes straight from the stories! "A Murder In Milburn" was Nancy McGovern's 1st cozy mystery series, featuring the young, up-and-coming super-sleuth & super-chef, Nora Newberry. The series included 12 stories, ranging from murders at a wedding and a zoo to...well...murders at an ice cream factory and a bed & breakfast. It also included 12 delicious recipes straight out of Nora's own cookbook. But, after a dozen murders in the small, quiet town, it felt like maybe enough was enough. So Nancy moved on to other characters & series in an effort to give Milburn some time to repopulate. But fate intervened... After some time away, Nancy missed her old friend, Nora, so much that she just had to "Return To Milburn" and published 6 more stories in this sequel series, set 25 years after the original. We reunite with Nora on her 55th birthday, happily married with two grown daughters and still up to her old solving murders & whipping up dishes like she never missed a beat! It seems there's never any shortage of murder in Milburn! Difficult to rate.. following a huge plot hole!

McGovern has written a fairly entertaining series. Easy reading with a fair cast of characters set in Millburn Wyoming. I can't say I particularly liked Nora, she was very nosey, at times plain rude and always knows best, she's got a bit of an attitude and expects answers when she actually has no right to be asking the questions.. she could have been a bit less arrogant at times. She wasn't like it from the start it just seems to have developed.

The difficulty with providing a star rating comes down to several issues with the timeline of the books.. in the first series the year is mentioned in a couple of the novels at least.. book 8, I believe, and it's 2017 and that is not the last book in the set.. but the second series is supposed to be set some 25 years later when Nora is 55 with two adult daughters in the year 2019. It's a huge oversight on the part of the author and it really blew the whole thing for me.

The stories are entertaining enough, if occasionally a little too conveniently solved in an "aha moment" over some piece of evidence that really doesn't prove anything! But the reality is that time travel isn't possible and this weird jump in the space time continuum makes the second series a bit ridiculous.

There's several errors in tense where the text switches mid sentence making it confusing. A small number of errors which are really just down to poor editing or proofreading and a few more where characters are misnamed and seem to be talking about themselves in the third person instead of the suspect.

I don't feel I can give more than 3* after the giant timeline issue surfaced.. but I probably would have rated them at 4* had the story stopped after the initial series as the timeframe wouldn't have jumped so oddly..

Part time detecting

Moving back to her home town after saving up for a diner this young woman with the help of her best friend from school days get their dream started but tragedy interferes when the partner dies. Having to prove she didn't kill her partner keeps her busy. And this is just the first book. Many weird things happen in this small town that the sheriff seams to pick the first person to cross his path to accuse. But with the help of this part time detective it gets sorted out in the end. Good Read.

If you like everyday strong women read this series.

This series goes through the life of a women who is strong and caring. She will get to the truth . Even if it puts herself in harms way. The ones who love her trust her and help her along the each step she takes. She keeps her head most of the time. With instinct and avoid memory for detail she will find the murder.

Good bargain on a good box set.

Interesting story and a return to the town 25 years later which was a different and interesting way to present the whole time line. There was also 2 more stories after the Nora Newberry stories. A lot of good reading at a very reasonable price.
