MY REVIEW AND OTHERS: can also be found on my blog:
➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'REGRETS' Is a full romance novel by new to me author Nicole Dykes. Spoken in Dual Perspectives. Goes from past to present time.

This book right here had been boomeranged all over my newsfeeds, on fb & IG then when you have Melissa Teo ranting, raving, screaming at us readers to go and one click a book come release day 😝 that’s pretty much what you do!

It all starts off during one of eleven year old Lincoln's rebellious moments as he talks his brother Colt and their driver into stopping for a short while on the wrong side of the tracks at the only basketball court the neighbourhood had, it's here where they befriend nine year old Penelope (aka P or Pea) who's the same age as Colt and decide to take her home with them for dinner. From this point onwards this girl is cemented into the family making this trio inseparable.

101387762-288332522304550-339712980897759232-n

Penelope is a ward of the state, living in a group home, hasn't seen her mother in years and father unknown. These two boys are as different as chalk and cheese. Good boy Colt always follows the rules ad always in control, Lincoln aka Linc is the rule breaker, living life to the beat of his own drum, never fearing the consequences.

The boys family take her under their wing and straight away Penelope hits it off with one brother over the other and as the years go by he becomes her best friend and vice versa. Both boys care about her. One would do anything for her to protect her, even if she doesn't want it. One boy would even fight for her. Because he believes she's just as bad as he is.

When tragedy strikes it tears a family apart. Self loathing and a whole world of heartache reigns down on them. Each struggling in their own way to come to terms with their loss. Two believe they are to blame.

But in heartache comes healing.

Regrets got its spidery clingy little hooks into me from the get go and didn’t let go until that last page was devoured. And devoured I did. I didn't even come up to breathe, this was inhaled.
This is the kind of book I love to chase, the angst, the hurt, the pain, it all came at me at high speed. This ticked all my boxes.

Regrets is everything I love about Nicole Dykes’ writing dialed up to the next level! It’s darker, edgier, and more deliciously addictive than anything she’s written before. A forbidden romance full of angst, lust, and passion I couldn’t devour quickly enough.

5 Angsty Crowns

This was my first book by Nicole and I know it won’t be my last. This book absolutely destroyed me, I stayed up tell the wee hours of the morning, because I just had to know how it was going to end. This book is without a doubt UNPUTDOWNABLE.

His eyes darken. I hate how he looks at me, as if sees the real Penelope, the one I’ve been trying to bury deep for years.

This book grabs ahold of you from the start and does not let you go until the very end. I was completely and utterly captivated by Linc and Penelope’s journey. These two are intense to say the least, they are pure fire together always a second away from combusting. The intensity between them was so strong you could feel it bleeding from the pages consuming any and everything around them.

Penelope has always had a fire in her, once that clashes with my own and burns so fucking hot we seem to set our world ablaze when we get too close.

I loved the banter between them, you know that they are hurting and what they are doing to each other is self-destructive but you also know that there isn’t anyone else they can rely on in this way. Their connection is one that is so deep and intrinsic that without even asking they know what the other needs. Even if that need is not in a constructive way.

My revenge is always quiet, causing chaos when they don’t see it coming.

Their hurt is so primitive and raw you can feel it, your heart breaking for them and all that they are carrying inside. But you know that this journey is needed, they have to figure out how to live in this new reality that neither were prepared for. Penelope and Linc are broken both in their own ways, but their broken pieces call to each other and soothe the ache that has always been there.

Such a beautiful fucking prick.

Nicole has created an emotionally raw and intense read that will have your heart and soul aching for the characters involved. Linc and Penelope are Perfection in their own broken and beautiful way. These two will shred you from the inside out, but as the story progresses Nicole puts you back together one page and one moment at a time. This book is not an easy read, but if you take the chance you will not regret it.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK REGRETS BY NICOLE STERLING.

GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE.
TROPES: LOVE TRIANGLE, ANGST, EMOTIONAL, TEAR JERKER, UNPREDICTABLE PLOT.
AUTHOR: NICOLE DYKES.
TYPE: BOOK #1 OF THE STERLING...CAN BE READ AS STANDALONE.
POV:DUAL POV...
MY RATING: 5 STARS.

Two brothers...One girl...
Definitely going to be a hard choice...
Penelope was a foster kid who just stumbled upon town boys in a playground and her life turned over.
One brother gives her hots and others love her more than anything. But every good side has a bad side...and their situations turn to worst quickly... She and Linc did something that ruins their family forever...and now they have to live in Regret...

‟𝙎𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙬?
𝙋𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧?
‟𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙩.”
‟𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡.”
‟𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙜𝙤, 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩?”

This book hurts...but love triangles are supposed to be angsty...but this was something else...
Both of them have a love-hate relationship and they find pleasure in hurting each other.
I loved the chemistry between them...The family drama.. the action.. feels.
I love how the book goes back and forth in the past and present seamlessly. And the secrets every turn of the book made it an unpredictable and unputdownable book.

"Both of us relish pain mixed with pleasure, both craving punishment for our many sins."

Both of them did some unforgiving toxic things but at the end they found solace...the end is what matters..

Finished my reread, and I think it might have been even better the second time!

This is beyond anything Nicole has ever given us & I AM HERE FOR IT.

This is heartbreak. This is betrayal. This is brutal.

But it is also everything.

The Sterlings are a whole new level of what we’ve come to love about Nicole. She knows how to write a dysfunctional family!

This book hits the ground running. The intensity is real. Buckle up, buttercup, you have no idea what you’re in for!

*updating to say, the audiobook was excellent!!!*

Holy Cow!
I’m used to loving Nicole’s books, she has a way of writing that just pulls me in but this book totally threw me. I felt like Nicole really stepped into a different way with her writing. I loved it.

Linc, Colt and Penelope are three friends, I guess that’s what you would call them, who find each other when they are 9 years old and go through many different things together. Linc is the bad sheep of the family, Colt is supposed to be the perfect son and Penelope is the foster kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Colt and Pea have a special bond as they grow older. Linc and P have a special connection as they grow older. P is torn in many different directions and doesn’t know what to do anymore.
When tragedy strikes they do what they have to do to cope. Everyone has to figure out how to live.

This book was great ! Not what I expected at all and I loved it. Nicole went really deep for this one and she didn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for forbidden love, love triangle, tragedy and just a great love story.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

If you are familiar with Nicole Dykes books, you know she is an amazing writer. This book...... it is evident she put her blood, sweat and tears in this one. You will absolutely love Penelope and Linc. These two are lost souls trying to find their way. They are not always good for one another actually more not then they are. They both have secrets and despair. There hearts are broken of tragedy. These characters are written so well that you are gutted throughout the book. The other characters Colt, Nora, Asher, and Lola bring so much to the story. Each brings one more emotional puzzle piece to make it whole. This book is by far the best book Nicole has written. You will not regret reading this one.

Can you numb yourself to the guilt? Yet again Nicole Dykes has created magic. Linc and P cant get past their betrayal and anger at each other so they intentionally cause the other pain. Is it possible to move forward when still haunted by the past? Can they forgive themselves for what they did and the hurt they caused? This book has all the angst, pain, heartache and passion. Tears flowed, my heart ached and I could feel their anguish in my soul. You will love these 2, and I cant wait to read more about the others in this family. Sometimes out of tragedy something beautiful happens. This is that story. Absolute must read!!

No regrets reading this one!

This was a bit of a hot mess, but in a good way.
Two brothers and one girl. This goes from past to present within a 10 year time frame. This is a love triangle of sorts. Linc (the older brother by 2 years) and Colt meet Penelope and bring her into their home over time. Penelope is in foster care and grows close to both of them, however Linc is the wild child and Colt is the good guy. Penelope is a little of both. Plenty of family drama and tragedy leaving everyone to deal with grief. There are real feelings here and it is quite emotional at times. Plenty of steamy hate/love scenes.

I felt all the pain in this one!

Nicole Dykes is a phenomenal writer.
This heartbreaking story will have you ugly crying so be ready with tissue and perhaps some wine! Your heart's hurts for Linc, Penelooe and Colt and their tragic story but the way Nicole shows the anger, rage, pain, and most important the process of healing is honest, creative, genuine and beautuful. Such a great story... looking forward to what is coming next!

Forbidden Love, Are We Supposed To Be Together?
*arc generously provided by the promo team in exchange for an honest review*

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Penelope and Linc aren't doing well. There's something they can't get over. They crave the punishment. They crave the pain. They must live with the consequences of their actions. But in their case... what exactly does that mean?

This was my first Nicole Dykes book. And. DAMN. I was pleasantly surprised! I LOVED THIS BOOK. She served all the feels. I went in not knowing anything except that this is angsty and emotional. And what was promised was delivered.
Both characters are messy and imperfect, but they work so well in their chaos. I love them! The author slayed that part. Just when you thought you knew each character, the author comes in and surprises you! What a twist we were presented here. Her emotional game is on fleek and it definitely had my heart aching for the characters. There was tons of beautiful character development (sth the author displays in the rest of the series, too).
I never quite connected with Colt, but I connected with how everyone felt about him, which is super strange.
Once I finished this book, I binged the next two right away. The story is addictive. It's fast-paced and it makes you feel so much.
I recommend it to all the forbidden lovers, angsty suckers and family drama obsessed readers.

ORIGINAL COMMENT:
Intense chemistry. Twists. Very emotional. Loved the forbidden nature of it all. I loved the growth. Can't wait to read the rest of the family's books!! Full review coming soon!

How far are you willing to go to numb pain? Would you destroy yourself to feel something, anything, other than earth shattering heartbreak?

I can’t describe this story, but I have to describe Ms. Nicole and how she made me feel. I have truly never been drawn into something so deep that I only wanted to throw anything around me. I wanted to scream and cry for how these characters felt and the pain that consumes them.

You are pulled into a love affair that’s not what I consider a love triangle, but love sphere. It’s a continuation of going round and round with so many emotions. The push and pull from each of them is hate, anger, pain, lust, and love. When you think it may get better, it truly wrecks you to the point you think there is no return.

And after you survey the damage, you have to decide what is the road that leads you home to repair your soul.

Holy hell this isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s a need to read now.

4.5 ⭐️

I don’t think I’ve ever been conflicted between two brothers before as much as I have here. The real kicker? There wasn’t even a competition. Yet the author screwed with our heads and hearts here.

Penelope was a lost soul. Years of abandonment, add on the attention of two gorgeous boys, leave a lot of confusion. I totally understood the pull she had from either side.

Linc, never judge a book by its cover. He was definitely not as he seemed. I loved that about him. The dark and broody type definitely fit him, but the sweet and protective alpha suited him more.

Their love was kismet. Unavoidable should be the title here. It was meant to be, one way or another, and it did.

Seeing this couple heal the way they did was calming, I can’t wait to see the same for the rest of this family.

Nicole is a new to me author and I have found myself in awe of her books. Regrets is a story of two brothers, a girl, and the love they each have for one another. Lincoln and Penelope at the start of the book are two heavily broken souls, who use each other to mask the pain they feel.
This book contains a loss for both characters and finding the peace they need to move on and heal. You will love these characters, hate these characters, and sympathize for them all in the span of a few chapters.
Get your self ready for a heartbreaking story!

“Just tell me. Is that why you keep coming back to me? Being with random guys doesn’t hurt bad enough. But me,” I lean into her ear, my voice a bitter growl, “the way you feel when I’m inside you, it truly tortures you. Because it feels that fucking good.”

Regrets by Nicole Dykes is a story about Penelope, a poor foster care child, and the two wealthy brothers she fell in love with, Colt and Lincoln. We switch back and forth between the past and the present which allows us to see how their friendships evolve into something more. We are also made aware from the very beginning that something bad eventually happens that leads our characters to be angry, sad husks of themselves. It also leads Lincoln and Penelope to punish and hurt each other because they are being eaten away by guilt. This story was a heartbreaking one of grief, healing, and love. It was my first read by this author and it was quite an enjoyable one. If you enjoy emotional reads with a touch of a love triangle, then I recommend picking up Regrets.

I received this ebook from the author who is new to me. The blurb for this book really got my attention and I’m so glad I read this book because WOW. This is a love triangle between the heroine and 2 brothers. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was blown away. The story is tragic, sad and heartbreakingly raw and emotional. The story is told from the past and the present and from both Penelope and Linc’s POV. My heart hurt for Linc’s family and for Penelope. She had a rough life and Colt and Linc helped save her as a child but that’s when things get complicated. This love triangle reminds me of Damon, Stefan and Elena from The Vampire Diaries a little because Penelope is obviously in love with both boys but doesn’t realize it. There’s also a huge secret revealed that I didn’t see coming and it changed everything for me! I thought this story was executed beautifully and was a really interesting take on a love triangle with brothers. Thank you Nicole Dykes for the ebook!

What to say about Regrets other than WOW!!! Lincoln, Colt and Penelope meet when they are very young and Linc and Colt bring Penelope home for dinner. That's the beginning of a bond and friendship with the Sterling brothers that goes on for 10 years and turns into love. Penelope is dating Colt but also has feeling for Linc. Tragedy strikes and Linc and P are hurting so bad and blaming themselves, and hurting each other. they find the way to start the recovery process when there's a twist...and this twist I promise you you will not see coming!! Well played Nicole...well played!! Can Linc and P forgive themselves and maybe even each other? You'll just have to read Regrets to find out!! Trust me...y'all want to read this book!!

This book just proves why Nicole Dykes is my favorite author. She freaking hit it out of the park with this one!!

If you love a screwed up family, lust driven romance this book is for you.

The Sterling Family seems like the perfect family on the outside, but when you get to know them you learn how they each suffer in their own way.

Life is hard, no one seems to know that more than Penelope when she meets Colt and Lincoln they form an instant friendship. Then comes the relationship, betrayal and pain.

Will anyone get a happy ending? You will have to read to find out!!

I super recommend this book!!

First I want to thank Nicole for sending me an ARC!!
This was my first time reading a book by Nicole and it won't be my last.
Honestly at first when I sow the cover and read two brothers one girl, I got a little nervous because I'm not a big fan of love triangles but this book took a different route than I expected(in a good way)
Yes there was a bit of a love triangle between the three but it was different type of love triangle. This book explored on young love and trying to find yourself. This book is full of angst, pain and being honest with who you are and who you love.
I'm excited to continue this series and see where this family goes!!

Wow! Once again Nicole did an amazing job! This shows us how two young boys being from a wealthy family doesn't guarantee happiness, until they found Penelope. Lincoln dragged his brother to the wrong side of town for a basketball game, not realizing they would find a girl, who would forever change their's and their families lives. She feel in love with both boys, but as they grew, she choose the safe, secure route, not the one that was more like her, but when tragedy strikes, she falls into a routine of hurt and anguish, until she realizes what and who she truly deserves and needs to make her happy. This was a great book and I look forward to reading the next one!

We all destroyed our lives last night, and I know we’ll never be able to truly come back from the wreckage.

Nicole Dykes is a new to me author, and what a punch to the heart this book was for a first timer—which is said in the BEST way possible! I figured I would enjoy Regrets due to the angsty forbidden romance (totally my thing), but I did not see the emotional impact this story would contain coming.

Penelope and Linc’s story wasn’t pretty. It was full of raw, turbulent emotion—a story etched in pain. They were legitimately two broken halves that were made for each other with a slight edge of unrequited feelings. Their lives entailed a lot of navigation of the heart, and a hard path to healing. One that had me tangled up in every emotion imaginable.

Regrets is a look into lives that aren’t quite as pristine as they seem, and a love that burns hotter with every push and pull. I’m still slightly in recovery mode, but I can’t get over how much I felt while reading this book!

4.50 Tragedy stars! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐🌠

🖤Two Brothers.
One girl.
Tragedy for all.🖤

Review by Maria××

You guys! This is freakin good, I basically love every elements that the author put in the story. Plot and character wise✔️. I love how the love triangle executed with the right amount of angstyness, torn decisions and Debauchery between Lincoln and Penelope. I like how the plot twist plated. There's so much ache and the push and pull in this toxic relationship that truly gives me headache especially on Penelope side.

Okay so the only reason why I did not give a 5 star even though I'm so much invested in the story , just because I wished the author give us more the aftermath of Linc and P story, I just felt like the 5% mark isn't enough for me. It's kinda felt a bit rush on the ending, I get that there's gonna be book two (which I'm excited!) but I just wish there could be more after all the tension and angst that the author greatly build within our characters.

Regardless, this was such a great read and I couldn't recommend this more💚.

I'd go with 4.5 stars! Loved Lincoln and Penelope's story. It was tragic, angsty, heartbreaking and gave all the "pain and hurt" feels that one wants from a contemporary romance. There is steam, secrets, longing, love and family drama! I loved it and am definitely reading the next book.

Lincoln and Colt are two siblings from the 4 children clan of the Sterlings. Lincoln is the wild and reckless one whereas Colt is every bit the golden child that you would expect a rich but kind person to be. Linc decides to visit the wrong sides of the tracks for just the thrills in his childhood and makes sure Colt tags along with him. There, they meet Penelope. A foster girl with no money and bad living conditions but a lot of fire. This is where the story begins. Who will have Penelope between the two brothers? Will there be a competition between them their whole lives? Will Penelope be able to choose? Or is there something more tragic happening in the story?

It's a love triangle but at the same time, it's not. That's the only way I can explain it without giving it away. I loved the storyline and all the twists and turns. You should definitely give it a read!

“Two brothers. One girl. Tragedy for all.”

Wow! I was not expecting this story to go where it did. I plan to write a cryptic review cause you need to experience its beauty. Spoilers are just mean in my opinion.

This story travels back and forth in time revealing all. It tackles some really hard hitting topics. Young and unrequited love, loss, abandonment, and betrayal all have a voice in this telling. Our couple initially have a darkness that has them drowning in anger and grief. Ugh you will find out why too. Yes I had several emotional moments. I was either wanting to cry or shake sense into someone. Eek!

This is a full cast read and I am more than curious about ALL the characters. Tapping my chin... future storylines?!

Intense, intriguing, sad, and yep, sexy make this story 4.5 star worthy. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
