Come on, who doesn’t love a sexy cowboy? And Luke is made-to-measure in all the right places from his Stetson to his boots.

This book is about choices—many of them bad ones. Emily’s marriage has sailed way past the rocks and she’s with her gorgeous new boyfriend Joshua in New York. However, her suitcase is filled with memories and secrets. The city is like living on a different planet for the country girl. She’s set, she has it all, and her new life is a ball. But it isn’t perfect, and the shine isn’t as shiny as the party glitterballs.

The time comes when she has to go back home to talk to Luke about wrapping things up. Emily, Emily, Emily, haven’t you heard of email, girl?

Well, from New Year’s on—that story was only going in one direction, and we were on that train and travelling West.

What I loved about the story is that it is a classic love story—but it’s classic because it’s real. Childhood sweethearts don’t always meet, fall in love, have 2.4 children and a dog—and in this case a beautiful black horse. Sometimes that road map we build for ourselves has a landslide right across the road and you have to reroute. Things can happen to change a person.

The writing is superb. The story is as complex as any marriage breakup tends to be. And we have the twists and surprises to look forward to along the way. It’s gritty in places and not all as sweet as a corn dog at the rodeo. This author writes a spectacular country-girl book. You can almost smell the countryside and the mountains.

Great escapism, and the kind of story you need a comfy sofa and chocolate for. I loved this book.

When her New York boyfriend presents her with a massive diamond ring and proposes to her at Christmas, Emily Pearce reluctantly says yes, but with a caveat. She's already married and needs to get a divorce before she can take a second trip up the aisle. She’s also reluctant because she’s still in love with her husband, Luke.
But Luke is in her past back home in Texas, and Josh is in the here and now in New York, where she’s lived for the last three years.
She goes home for her dad’s birthday and decides to ask Luke to finally sign the divorce papers.
Sounds like a good plan? Of course it does. But meeting Luke and feeling the old feeling once again changes everything for Emily.
I loved this. It’s all cowboys and country gals. Music, cattle, pickup trucks and bourbon. Love and loss, happiness and heartbreak, and you won’t be able to stop reading.

This book is a beautiful love story that evolves out of, and despite, tragic moments. Emily has the love of her life, but tragic events rip that love apart and she flees from Texas to New York to heal and to find new love. She does find new love but what she had and lost in Texas continues to haunt her.
This book is long and the story involved, but I loved every minute of the story and relished the highs and lows of the plot. It was a true emotional roller coaster ride, and there are heartwarming moments when Emily’s family rallies around her as she struggles with her emotions.
The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the story reads like a larger-than-life saga. I highly recommend that you add this book to your to-be-read list.

Good

This is the second book I have read by this author. The story line is good, and interesting, and the characters are well developed, especially Luke, Josh, and Emily.
However, I would have enjoyed a shorter book, which could have been accomplished by condensing some of the extensive dialogue. The book could also benefit from proofreading. In addition, although the story takes place primarily in Texas, and entirely in the US, the author has used some British spellings throughout the book, which I found unusual.

it was an emotional ride, reading this book. the chemistry between the characters was undeniable, and the main character was so relatable. it’s longer than i normally read, so i was a bit wary at first. but then the story drew me in and i stopped caring about how long it was.

Go girl!

Emily only felt comfortable in jeans and a shirt, a true Texas gal, but made a valiant effort for the New York Christmas Eve party. Josh's parents hated her and she felt so out of place in his world. The Christmas party turned into a marriage proposal, he needed to know her past but neither was ready for what was to come.
A fantastic tale of an ideal world that crumbles, then a new found one that isn't all it's cracked up to be as Emily battles with her thoughts and feelings to find her happy ever after.
Both enthralling and moving, this heartwarming story is so well written, you feel every one of Emily's emotions and travel this roller coaster of a journey right there with her. The ending really tugs at the heart strings and I can't wait to read more from this talented author. Well done Sarah, great job!

A “Sweet Home Alabama” story with friends you wished were yours, natural dialogue that makes you feel like you’re sitting in a Texas household with a loving family that makes you feel welcomed.

When a tragic accident destroys any chance for happiness, Emily leaves her family and goes to New York to escape her ex and memories too painful to revisit.; but a marriage proposal and unsigned divorce papers force her to return to her home town to resolve old issues.

Emotional and beautiful!

Going back to Texas for her father’s birthday party—might as well kill two birds with one stone, or so Emily Pearce thinks. Get her husband to sign the divorce papers while she’s there. What could possibly go wrong?
The Heart in Texas is a beautiful story, filled with so much emotion and a storyline that gripped me from the start, along with wonderful characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

An enjoyable love story that was easy to read and with likeable characters. It is a rather long book, which I thought could have been condensed a little, but nevertheless, it kept my attention from beginning to end, and I recommend it to all romance lovers.

lovingly written

Loved it, it's heartfelt and genuine. Love that hard ship may have split the two main characters up temporarily, but they found one another again. The side characters (her friends) were integral to the story and I loved that they had a little story of their own going on. Overall it's a beautiful penned story of life, love family. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would read more by the great Sarah Jacobson. Well worth the 5 star

Lost and found love

A love story that finds heart break, forgiveness and new found love of a young woman from the big city who goes back home to end things with an old flame after getting engaged.
The story seemed to ride like a rollercoaster with slow and fast pace with slot of mushy love and dragged down the intent of the story.

“Always and forever,” Emily said with a smile.

“And maybe a little after that,” Luke replied.

Emily and Luke’s story pulled at my heartstrings. I found myself getting emotional throughout their story. My eyes wouldn’t stop leaking. So many aspects of the story hit home but especially when Emily spends time with her mom. That one had me crying as I remembered the time I had with my mom before she passed. What I wouldn’t give to just holding her hand one more time. I fell in love with Emily’s family. They were perfect and so supportive. I cheered when they let the seven-year-old win the board game. The story felt wholesome, like a good “Hallmark” movie. Thumbs Up!

From the big city to the country from the highs to the lows this romance delivers!
A difficult past that won't unleash its grip and a very involved plot with well developed characters- it is long but I didn't feel it was bogged down with unnecessary drivel.
Well Done!
