She’s back with a need for vengeance even more than before.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
The men of Monroe Enterprises hung me out to dry. They manipulated, calculated and seduced me. I was nothing but a rag doll when I walked out of their ivory tower. But the old Ainslee has been reborn again. I’m out for revenge on a whole other level. My past is done, a new day has dawned for my hatred. They are going down along with all my tormentors. Because this time I am the boss.
We broke her. She was nothing to us but an obstacle we had to overcome. Yet we all feel lost in some way for our actions. She’s more than we had imagined. Now we know we may have underestimated her because she’s no longer our assistant, she’s our obsession. And our rival.
The saga continues. Be prepared for another epic showdown with Ainslee and the men of Monroe Enterprises.

Ooo i loved this one! It definitely had the emotional factor that put my emotions in a spin!
Some parts were raw and gritty which I absolutely loved! The twists and turns definitely had me on edge and I couldn’t get enough of reading this book!
Note: you have you read Boss before reading this one!
I cannot wait for the next book! Because I’m dying to find out what happens next!
First, let me say that I did enjoy book one, I did enjoy book two, and I generally enjoy the story that Ross is creating for us.
That being said, I had a hard time getting into the start of the book. For some reason, it just felt kind of chaotic, a bit disorganized, and that made it difficult for me to sink in and leave the analytical part of my brain behind. For me, being able to fall into the book and be hooked right away is very important. That being said, I continued through and did finish.
Unfortunately, I felt like some of that chaos traveled into the rest of the book. The way that Ainsley would react (although, to be fair, she and others comment on/acknowledge it) was a bit more erratic/reactionary than I would've liked, especially since she's in a very precarious situation. I would've loved to see her rising up a bit more and taking on that cool, collected persona as a lead so that we can really see her be the boss b*tch that she is capable of being. Some of the other characters also have behavior that is a bit extreme but also not explained at all, and I wish there were some more bread crumbs there rather than being totally left in the dark.
Okay, now, on to the rest because, as I said, I do enjoy the story, and I don't want it to seem like the opposite. One thing that I appreciated was the way that the we're getting little snippets of suspicion and information about what's going on while the plot is still thickening. The situation between Gamble, Monroe, and Ainsley's family is more complicated than it first seemed in book one, and I like that it's more than a cut and dry case of manipulation and painting her father as the fall guy. It's nice that Ross is building this up into a more intricate situation where we can really dig into both books and have the fun of looking for the little hints to figure out the truth in the middle of what everyone says and does.
Along with that, there's also some interesting movement as far as the relationships go. As Ainsley allies herself with another force who's trying to take the boys of Monroe down, she starts to learn more of the guys' secrets and what makes them tick. Sometimes those secrets have unexpected consequences, and Ainsley's plan to separate the guys doesn't go as well as she had hoped.
Overall, I'll read book three, especially because it's on KU, but I do hope some of the chaos calms for the next book. I'd like the plot to keep thickening, but I'd like the erratic bits to get smoothed out.
Woah, that was one heck of a read. There is so much going in this second book! It's really hard to tell who all you can trust to not be either manipulating Ainslee or taking advantage of her feelings at some point in time. This book definitely shows how things can easily turn for the bad if you allow anger to drive your actions. Ainslee let her anger and her need for vengeance get in the way and eventually became the bully she accused the men of Monroe of being. Her hatred for the men of Monroe gave her some type of tunnel vision and she wasn't able to see the whole picture, only focusing on getting revenge and hurting those who she thought hurt her. In most cases having that much determination is a great thing, but other times it allows you to ignore your surroundings and unintentionally hurt the people you love.
Secrets and feelings are revealed in this book, but there are still tons of questions that need answered about the past and present issues between Ainslee and the guys' families. Here's to hoping we get more answers in the next book along with really getting to know the guys. Their characters seem to have much more depth to them than originally thought, and I'm betting they really open up to Ainslee in the third book.
I have SO many thoughts and theories running around in my head after finishing Rival! The loudest thought being what the heck Scarlett Ross!?! Rival was an even bigger emotional roller coaster than Boss!
I love the development of Ainslee throughout the book, although at one point she was just plain obnoxious I feel it made her more human. I did want to slap some sense into her at that point tho... pretty sure the other characters did as well. Haha!
I am truly astonished by Scarlett’s growth as an author. Boss was a phenomenal read and honestly one could say there were very few things, if any, that she had to improve on in her writing. But here we are with Rival and her writing has somehow become even more fantastic! The details, the character development, the emotions, I could go on and on, it was all amazing. She knocked this book out of the park and I cannot wait for book three to hit my kindle! Beautifully done Ms. Ross!
Well, well, well... this book was intense, hot and you cannot sit still while reading. There were times that I felt that Ainslee still was not bringing her A game. When she did it was glorious. However, Grayson Gamble is acting weird. You definitely need to pay attention with what is going on. Was there some other play going on that we are not aware of. The twist and turns that go on is insane, not a bad insane but a good one. I was cheering her on along with her plans. Then some things take a turn for the worst. That ending! WTH, I hope the wait will not be long. This series is great and a must read.
3.5 I really enjoyed Ainslee fighting back, using her brain and having morals. I didn't like the overreacting, falling victim to her morals, the "hate" sex or indeed not using protection when being with a guy she is a "rival" of. She has no reason to trust him but will still have unprotected sex with him 🤦🏻♀️ std's people! I don't really understand what happened at the end so I kind of need book 3 now 😂
What a book this was I enjoyed reading from start to finish. Scarlett did an awesome job writing right from the beginning I was hooked. We started off right where we ended book 1 and to a journey full of twist and. In this book Ainslee to revenge on the guys and boy do things get crazy I have to say though I can't blame her and this is definitely one book that you will want to read. You do need to read book 1 first but both books are well worth the read. I can't see what happens next.
Ainslee really made my eye twitch in this book. Not going to lie, after what happened in book one I thought she would have seen the bigger picture and been a bit more smart but alas. The story is still intriguing, I want to know what is really going on behind the curtain so to say but I was a little disappointed in her character development in this book.
Well although this a well written sequel to ‘Boss’. I am a bit disappointed because I felt it left me with a lot of unanswered question about friendships and futures. I only hope they will be follow up or extended epilogue to clear things up because I do love these well written characters and relationships.
Wow!! Another awesome book in this awesome series!!! Cant wait for the next installment!!! Absolutely love ainsley and the 4 Monroe men!!!! Cant wait to see what happens next!!!
Ainslee has no idea what she is fighting but she keeps on fighting. We are finally starting to learn a little more about what's going on. I really enjoyed this and look forward to next book.
