Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

This volume was better than the previous two. We get some exploration of Kawaki, Naruto gets to fight some, and the two little bonus comics about the Ninja trading cards were funny. Really good.

It was a good volume. We finally learn more about Kawaki and Jigen. Kawaki at least tries to be good with the help of Naruto. The sparring between Naruto and Boruto later Kawaki and Boruto were cool. We also get to see more of Koji who is searching for Kawaki. The volume ends with the appearance of a woman named Delta who, it seems, will fight Naruto and the boys. It was an interesting volume that is full of explanation and some flashbacks. Like Naruto and the others, we try to learn more about Kawaki, Karma, and Kara. The story is actually very interesting and I'm especially curious about Koji.

This was a pretty good volume. We get to see some pleasent moments with Kawaki and some good action with Delta (The android women). The last chapters remined me of Dragon ball Z.

Kawaki Begins to open up more to the Uzumaki family. So you get to see a much lighter side to Kawaki and that he has lead a pretty harsh life.

Minor Spoilers ahead:

Naruto takes Kawaki to get a replacement vase for the one he broke. Sarada tags along, which allows for some interesting between her and Kawaki. While out shopping Kawaki has a PTSD attack. Naruto comforts him during it, and strongly sympathises with him, having experienced a negative childhood as a jinchuriki. Sarada introduces Kawaki to Taiyaki and befriends him.

Boruto rejects the new vase. So Kawaki attempts to repair the old vase with glue. Which leads to Boruto and Kawaki going out to train thier Karma marks togeather. This is when Delta arrives to trys and Kidnap Kawaki.

Naruto and Delta's fight is pretty good, thought it concludes in a cliff hanger in this volume.
I thought they where going to make Delta much weaker, a throw away villain. But she appears to be much more of a threat. Similar to the androids in Dragon ball Z. I make that comparison because it seems most of her body is robotic. That said her core abilies are similer to Kawaki. She can absorb her opponent's ninjutsu and harden her limbs into blades. Since both Kawaki and Delta have these powers, that makes me think such powers will be a common traits among the inners of the Kara Organization. There was this one sceen where Naruto and Delta's chakra engnited around thier bodies then they charged at each other, it seemed like a seen strait out of Dragon ball Z.

During this Time Koji is able to feeling move through konoha without being detected by the sensory division. This points more to the thoery that Koji is some how linked to Jaraiya. Thought even if Koji shares the same Chakra as Jaraiya, it still does not make sense that he can travel in the village undetected. Since Jaraiya is registered as dead, you'd think that that a dead shinobi's charka wandering around the village would raise some redflags. The manga explains this by saying that the sensors only react to the presence of new chakra. But given how long Jaraiya has been dead, I can't see how the sensory division would not pick up on his presence.

Ino makes an appearnce in this volume as well. She is leading the sensory division, and running her flower shop. She telepathically contacts Naruto the minuet Delta enters the village. She is who sells Kawaki and Naruto the vase.

Overall I really liked this volume. It was nice to see some wholesome moments between Kawaki and other charaters. Plus it have good combat sceens.

I think the structure of the manga vs the structure of the anime is really strange but I like reading the mangas as much as I like watching the anime.
There are small differences between them but nothing that impacts the overall plot (In Noruto, Naruto is another story)
I don’t know why but this volume in particular is so poorly handled (the drawings), especially in comparison to the anime.
The bad guys are drawn in amazing detail and you can tell that it took a lot more time than it did to draw Ino for example.
Ino is the most beautiful character in the anime (I hate that they don’t do a better job with Sakura but I always hated how they portrayed her anyway), and if you read this manga, besides the ponytail, you couldn’t tell it was even her.
The structure of her face is weird, her hair looks weird, her eyes look nothing like an anime character’s.
What bothers me the most about the entire series is that female characters are written in a superficial manner. It feels like the person that has to explain anything about the women’s character, experiences and relationships is always on vacation and we are supposed to never care about they’re life story, unless they include a man of course.
I love Naruto and I wanna love Boruto, but I think that I can’t enjoy it that much now ,because I can actually see it from a critical point of view, and back in middle school, my brain wasn’t even developed yet.
Sad thoughts triggered by a manga.

This starts off with Naruto and Kawaki going to Ino's shop as the latter wants to make upto Boruto for breaking the vase earlier and they do and they get a vase and there is a moment where he breaks the vase as he remembers what happened with him and there is such a lovely follow up after Naruto hugs Kawaki telling him he is there for him and that was amazing! They do reconcile somewhat and then Naruto and Boruto are sparring and then enter the KARMA forms and its so cool absorption techniques, extra power boost and all that and even Kawaki and Boruto battle! Meanwhile Koji and Delta enter inside Konoha, Koji is checking things out but Delta getting impatient breaks in and starts battling Naruto and its epic, their fight, just wow! Naruto is getting a challenge as it seems like her entire body is made up of machine parts and its turning into an epic battle! I like how things have hastened up and its no time wasting on anything, just straight up fights and quick resolutions and its so cool to see Naruto using his Kurama-form to battle and go all out vs these opponents and the art is just firing on all cylinders!

[This review covers Volumes 7-8 since I read them in one go]

Boruto and co. investigate the unconscious youth, only to find a clue to the mystery of Kara and Karma - a clue that wants to punch them in the face. And then, back in the Hidden Leaf, two agents of Kara infiltrate with only ill intentions on their minds.

Fun times. Nice art. Having someone that annoys Boruto as much as he annoys everyone else is pretty hilarious at times. I'm surprised by how much Naruto is in this, considering he's not meant to be the main character anymore, but sure.

The mystery of Kara continues, with a few little tidbits revealed in some flashbacks, but for the most part it's still fairly obscure. I can't remember how long it took before we knew what the Akatsuki were after in the original, but I feel like we got it right after we found out who they were during the whole Deidara/Gaara thing, so a long-standing mystery feels new.

Kishimoto's writing is at its best when he has his lead character have some friend, partner, or rival involved with his main character. Rather than repeat the same rivalry that went on in Naruto pt1/2, he went with Kawaki, more like a friend than a rival for Boruto. Though he is occasionally as aloof as Sasuke, he has more personality going for him and is quick to want to basically befriend Boruto, since he figures its a hassle otherwise. Also I think Naruto being a figure he looks up to and honestly finds comfort in, as well as Himarwari being as cute as a button, and Hinata being a loving yet in the background mother has allowed Kawaki to just go with the flow and already find himself melded by the Uzumaki household. Its great.

Overall loved this volume for the domestic-with ninja antics thing going on for our kid main characters and the overarching Kara/Karma plot is compelling.

Extras included three goofy short manga/omake.

Last year it was announced that after writing Boruto since the beginning, Kodachi would be stepping aside and Kishimoto himself was going to take the reins again (probably in time for a Boruto timeskip) and even though I do not like basically anything about the Boruto series, I admit that I was pretty curious about what Kishimoto would do once back in creative control of the series. But to get to that, I had to pick up where I left off after saying at least three(?) times that I was done reading this series because I find it so god awful.

I should not gone back on my word, but I am dead serious now I am done. I do not understand how in Japan this series has a special serialization in which Kodachi and Ikemoto get one month per chapter as opposed to one chapter per week like most other serializations and they manage to produce so little. I'm bored and I'm done.

Volume 8: Chapter 28-31
Arc 4: Kawaki

- Kawaki go for a walk around Konoha with Naruto. Kawaki is still traumatized with his past. Naruto trying to comfort Kawaki.
- Kashin Koji and Delta arrived at Konoha. They can't passed the barrier as they will be detected by Konoha's surveillance system. Apparently, Kashin Koji can passed through the barrier without being detected.
- Boruto and Kawaki having a sparring in order to learn more and master the Karma. Delta infiltrated Konoha after find out about Kawaki's whereabout.
- Delta vs Naruto. Delta's body is full of scientific ninja tools. She can absorb any ninjutsu using her eyes. Delta got the upperhand in the fight. Naruto pretended to be weak as if he can gather more intel from Delta.

Let's dive into this.

Page 33
Can we discuss this page without discussing it? I thought this actually touching page, especially the top panel. Look at Naruto's face! Look at Kawaki! Very moving panel. It is also reminiscent of the anime, where we see Gaara with a young Shinki.

Naruto in Boruto
I once saw a comment on Youtube saying they made Naruto weaker or something along those lines in Boruto the anime. While I cannot say for certain about the anime, I can say that Naruto proves his salt in the manga! Pages 128 to 171 clearly show that and it continues in the next volume.

Verdict: This was pretty good even though I am detesting the implications about Kawaki and Boruto.

Yah paham sih, karna manganya aja baru vol 8, jadi kayak balap2an ya. Overall, next generation ini tetep seru kok diikutin klo baca manganya juga, jgn nonton animenya doang (yaiyalah bilangnya boring). Dan saya makin penasaran sama lanjutannya!

OKAY OKAY PEOPLE. This is really nerve wrecking. If something happens to Kawaki, Naruto, Boruto and Himawari Imma throw my phone out.

I just can’t bear this amazingly well written slow-burn suspense.

And please KAWAKI NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED AT ALL COST 😭😭

Yes, yes, yes. Naruto's huge heart is shining again and I think Boruto has it too, although he is a lot more of a jerk when he shows it. And I'm loving seeing the effects on Kawaki. I am really liking this series!

All right

We see some humanity in Kawaki leaking out under Konoha's influence. We also get a little more mystery with new threat no answers though. Naruto's fighting again is always a plus. Here's hoping he doesn't disappoint. He hasn't yet thankfully.
