As much as I enjoy Martina Cole I found reading all of these together in a set very hard work. The stories all revolve around a hard man and how each reacts to the criminal world which normally is the centre of their universe. As the title suggests the hardman is surrounded by his family and all of the stories deeply involve family members. In each case the hardman seems to be a psychopath and the family have to work hard to keep him on the straight and narrow. Eventually the hardman and the family come to a crucial juncture and the books deal with the background to how they arrived at that point and its aftermath.

Review of The Faithless

A fantastic frolic with the criminal underworld and the dastardly Cynthia. I really enjoyed it. It is fast paced, exciting and throws up a lot of moral dilemmas.
