My boyfriend broke up with me three months ago and became engaged to my cousin. Coincidence? Doubtful. The week I got the wedding invitation my boss, his dad, fired me. Coincidence? Highly doubtful. Me crashing their wedding at an exclusive resort? Totally planned. I’m Laura, the jilted ex-girlfriend and soon-to-be thorn in my ex’s side at his own wedding. But my plan wasn’t to ruin their wedding. Okay, maybe a little. It’s getting my job back. Once my ex-boss, my ex-boyfriend’s father (it’s complicated) noticed how well I made it through the wedding without messing up his precious son’s day, then he’d hire me back as a chef at his five-star restaurant, The Hen. Perfect plan, right?
I’m Rock, the owner of The Blue Spot, an exclusive resort just for Billionaires. The place was about to open and we’re having our first official event to create buzz. The wedding of the year between a billionaire heiress and the son of a famed restaurateur. Everything had to be perfect. And everything was going smoothly until the fiancé’s ex showed up. Now it’s my job to ask her to leave without causing a scene. The problem wasn’t the guests noticing her. It was the appendage between my legs that wouldn’t let me forget her.
Ruining the Billionaire’s Wedding is the start of a hilarious, sexy new standalone series called Blue Ridge Mountain Billionaires.
There’s not much worse than getting to the end of a book and thinking the best part of it was that it was short. This book started off with so much promise. I found myself chuckling, enjoying the sense of humor. For example, we’ve all said stupid stuff, but this description made me laugh: “But what came out of my mouth was the worst part. My mind, in its overstimulated state, broke. It malfunctioned, and my mouth was doing its best to help but only caused more harm.”
One of the first things mentioned in the book, by way of introducing the characters was Rock’s back story. I burst out laughing when I read this: “We may have started out as just an average middle-class family, but due to my brothers and me coming together as a family to support one another, and the money we got to invest from the court case, we were billionaires.” Ah, the American dream at work—pulling yourself up by your bootstraps after winning a wrongful death suit. Please. But, I was willing to overlook how silly it was because the narrator, Laura, was funny. Sometimes Rock took over POV, but he was more serious so I didn’t enjoy him as much.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the book took a turn. The first time the main characters became intimate, I kept reading and expecting to find out that it was a dream sequence. It was surreal. It was just so far-fetched and ridiculous, I was shaking my head and thinking come on let's get to the real story. Unfortunately, this was the real story. It continued on in this manner, the story turning into a vehicle to allow the characters to engage in sex and very little else. I'm not a prude, but I became embarrassed to be reading something that was so flimsily held together. It was as if the author decided it was time for Laura and Rock to act on their attraction and didn’t bother to create a reasonable circumstance to facilitate that.
I began skimming the book, hoping to find a thread of the plot that had initially interested me. Eventually, the plot picked up again and the book became interesting to me. There was a scene between Rock and his brother James that was funny. I liked Rock’s observation: “What’s family for, if not to shame you when you need it the least?” But it got better. Lamenting the fact that he had allowed Laura to leave, Rock says: “When she left, so did a part of my being… I’m slipping back to nothing but a shell.” There was silence for a moment. “Wow, that was both eye-opening and utterly pathetic. I love you, Rock, but you could have stopped after the whole ‘I love her’ part. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat shellfish again without thinking of your little speech.”
I wish I could say that the book redeemed itself eventually. However, the funny parts just couldn't make up for the lack of substance that comprised a good portion of the book. The conclusion of the book, therefore, was rushed and a bit of a letdown. I'm sad to say I cannot recommend this story.
Very good romantic comedy It’s an excellent story and I really liked the characters. It’s both tender and hot. I expected more twists because of the title, however the story is funny, romantic, sometimes a little touching, but still excellent. I really liked Laura’s determination and her passion for her job, which finally opens doors for her after her ex-boyfriend and ex-stepfather destroyed her career and her personal life as chief. It is also in part to find this job that she goes to her ex's wedding. But Laura finds it difficult to control her words, and it complicates her situation. When Rock, the owner of the establishment, during the wedding, needs a chef urgently, she jumps at the opportunity. However, he is reluctabt : her ex-father-in-law accuses her of wanting to poison everyone. Laura must therefore prove her worth to Rock and pass the strong attraction she feels in his presence. Laura Nutters and her sister, Julia, is at her ex’s wedding to her cousin. She is there to get her chef job back from his father. He fired her six weeks prior to the wedding. She did not even know he was seeing her cousin until the invitation for the wedding showed up. The place where the reception is held has just lost three chefs! So, Laura stepped in to help out and try to impress her ex’s father. He threw a fit~ So, Rock and his brothers own the resort that catered to the rich. He went in to fire her, only to hire her for the next four weeks. They even started seeing one another and became intimate during that time. Then, at the pre-opening dinner she planned, Mr. Wiseley offered her a job again as his new head chef at a new restaurant. She could not believe it and accepted because Rock never said a word about her staying. After only five days, Rock’s brother came in and announced he had reservations where she worked. They went there…will she come back? Will she work for him? Stay with him? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Don’t be duped into getting this book thinking its going to be a fun read or even a sad, emotional read. It’s neither and that’s unfortunate. It’s nothing like the title suggests.
I thought this was going to be a fun Rom-Com all the while making the new bride and groom pay for their ‘sins’. However, I found nothing funny unless you call X-rated thoughts throughout the book funny. This has nothing to do with ‘ruining her ex’s wedding’. Laura, the dumped ex, spoke up once during the ceremony about him being her sloppy seconds. That would have been good if there was follow through, but nope, none at all. The only one that got ruined was Laura …. Not the cheating ex, not the conniving cousin and certainly not the snobbish father-in-law. Too bad as that would have been entertaining and fun to read.
All the romance, that didn’t seem romantic at all, happened too quickly. The first week on the job and Laura takes the boss lunch and ends up having sex…. and explicitly detailed. There’s a difference between fun and sexy vs BDSM talk and actions. Nothing in the book description warns or prepares the reader for this.
Why didn’t we get to meet her cheating ex? How about her duplicitous cousin? The book title claims the wedding is ruined. That would’ve been good to ‘see’, Also, the ex’s dad needed a real comeuppance alongside his son and the bride.
This could have been a fun book or an emotional, angsty storyline…. or a combination of both, as the title and description leads one to believe. Unfortunately, it’s none of those. I ended up scanning through most of the book since I hate to not finish a book I’ve started.
This book is an adorable, sexy, and quick read prequel to the Blue Ridge Mountain Billionaire’s Series and this reader just loved it. It’s funny, flirty and romantic all rolled into one hilarious plot. The author’s writing style had me laughing and smiling throughout, even when things for poor Laura seemed to go from bad to worse.
I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but this story is about Laura and Rock (the owner of the Blue Mountain Lodge for Billionaires). Laura thought she had it all. She had a boyfriend and was finally a top chef at a NY restaurant (a restaurant her boyfriend’s father happens to own). But when her boyfriend dumps her for her rich cousin and his father fires her, Laura’s world comes tumbling down. Trust me when I say she was more upset about losing her dream job than losing her ex. So, she decided to go to the wedding (since she was invited) to show she had no hard feelings and hopefully show she deserved to get her job back. Well boy does that plan backfire. From here the book takes off with a roar. Laura becomes Laura 2.0 and demands to be heard, especially from Rock, the tall sexy owner of the Blue Mountain Lodge where her ex’s wedding reception is being held.
Kudos to the author for a great novella and this reader is looking forward to more from the Blue Ridge Mountain series. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars for a must read prequel to what this reader feels will be a fun, sassy, exciting, romantic series.
This is a prequel to a new series and I enjoyed it so much. It was a funny and sexy romantic comedy about Laura and Rock.
After being cheated on by her boyfriend and her cousin, her boss/former father-in-law fires her from his restaurant. All she wants is her job back when she goes to the new stupid couple's wedding. What she didn't expect was an opportunity to prove herself in front of the stoic and sexy owner of the Blue Ridge - a soon-to-be-opened billionaire's haven.
Rock is a sweet hard worker and he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders (well, the weight of his family's world). He is always helping here and there and working so hard that being in a relationship isn't on his radar.
So when Laura comes barging in his life like a bull in a china shop, he doesn't know what to do at first. But soon enough, they both start to realize that their feelings are taking upon everything and they have to decide if their dreams are more important or if it's possible to combine their dreams and their love.
They were so cute, so sexy and funny together. Their chemistry was great and reading their story was both relaxing and entertaining.

A prequel to a new series by Elizabeth Lynx? Sign me in! Laura thought she had it all, a great boyfriend and a dream job until she was left with nothing, fired and her ex in his way to marry… her cousin. You can definitely count on the author to create an insane storyline and it was just the beginning. Laura came to her ex marriage to prove that she could get her job back but met on her way the sexy owner of the resort, Rock. A few mishaps later and she started working in his resort, and no one would ruin his chance to make his business work, determined to do it on his own but the talented and sexy chef made him see things in a new perspective. I appreciated their banter and passion for their work, to see how they were perfect for each other. They had such great chemistry and upfront about their desires. They shared a great complicity, smoking hot outside the kitchen, a lot naughty for sure but sweet and tender at the same time. A lighthearted and fun story with colorful characters that put me in a good mood. Can’t wait to read the next books!
Laura is jilted by her boyfriend who becomes engaged to her heiress cousin. She is fired from her job because his father is her boss. She's invited to the wedding and ends up making the wedding dinner filing in for the chef who quit. Trouble follows but Rock, the owner of the wedding venue, accepts her explanation and lets her stay to help him out. He temporarily hires her. They end up acting on their attraction. Then she is offered her old job back, will she take it? Will he let her go?
This book was so much fun. Laura just lets her mouth go and what comes out is not what she should say. I chuckled and laughed throughout the book. I liked how each chapter belonged to either Laura or Rock. I liked knowing what they were thinking. They were perfect for each other. I also liked his brother James who points out the obvious and makes plans for them. When she yells at Rock as he is trying to rectify his error towards her, I loved it! I cannot wait to read more of this series. This is a feel good book.
Ruining the Billionaire's Wedding is a fantastic introduction to the new series Blue Ridge Mountain Billionaires. You will love the chemistry, the heat between Laura and Rock. The banter allow will draw you in. But when you add the that red hot attraction you can't be helped but to be draw to Laura and Rock even more. Laura is amazing. I love how even through that awkward moment she still steps in and does what she loves to do and that is cook. Rock is amazing. You feel the pressure he is under to get the resort up and running smoothly for his cliental. I love how Laura proves she has what it takes to be there. True to Elizabeth Lynx form you will have plenty laugh out loud moments and smoking hot pages. I love this one so much. If this is just a little taste of what is to come, then I know that the Blue Ridge Mountain Billionaires series is one I am not going to miss out on. I can't wait to see where this series goes.
This was a fun, shorter story about 2 people trying to succeed. Laura’s ex-boyfriend dumped her to marry her cousin and the her ex’s dad fired her as a chef at his restaurant. She wanted to go to the wedding to show her former boss that she could be civil with everyone so he would rehire her as his chef. The wedding was being held in Rock’s new luxury hotel as a premiere event before the hotel opened in a month so Rock wanted everything to be perfect. That isn’t at all what happened and circumstances led him to rely on Laura to help in the kitchen. There was continuing drama as Laura tries to get her old job back and Rock tries to make a success of the hotel. Will both Rock and Laura succeed in their career goals? Will Laura and Rock find love?
This book was fun to read and I especially love Laura’s snarky banter and attitude. I loved the epilogue but hope to read more about Julia. I recommend this book for a quick, fun story.
This is a story of Laura who’s boyfriend broke up with her three months ago turns around and gets engaged to her cousin. But then the day she gets the wedding announcement her boss her ex’s father fires her! She’s now determined to go to the wedding at an exclusive resort that is getting ready to open and maybe cause trouble. But she wants her boss to rehire her to be a chef at a restaurant that he has if she can prove that she can try to behave. Rock is the owner of the resort that is hosting the high profile wedding and wants to have it go smoothly to help promote his resort. His job is to get Laura to leave quietly but he’s highly attracted to her. Now what will he do? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book is a cute little story. A chef down on her luck after being fired. Gets invited to a wedding where things get sticky and volunteers to help out. Laura who is resilient with a sarcastic attitude has always dreamed of being a chef finally gets her moment even for a short period of time. Rock Diaz is a tough and broody guy who owns a restuarant when his chef just ups and leaves he needs to finda chef asap. When their worlds collide sparks fly. I received a copy of this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
What a fantastic quick read. I loved how snarky and fun loving Laura is. Especially when she comes up against Rock. She starts out in this book in the toughest spot possible, her ex is marrying her cousin. You can imagine how that can all go wrong. But! Something does go right for her. She meets Rock. I loved the banter between them and his ability to still be the stoic male immune to Laura. Or is he?
I have enjoyed this novella introducing the Blue Ridge Mountain Billionaires; it has humour, happiness, sexiness, sadness, grief, secrets, heartache, ups, downs, strong family bonds and likeable characters. It's made me curious about some characters who have appeared, if they will get a story and will we find out the answer to THAT question? - I am really looking forward to exploring this new series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.
This story didn’t work for me in so many ways - the premise of her being at her ex’s wedding and taking over the kitchen, the resort that was for some reason supposed to be for billionaires only instead of just calling it high end or exclusive, the heroine’s jokey last name, even the dialogue when they finish their first sex scene and he starts telling her about his father’s employment history. I won’t be reading about Rock’s brothers.
This was very enjoyable. Laura and Rock are very cute together, the sex was hot as hell and it was the perfect Monday read. Very short but also sweet. My only complaint is that I wanted this to be longer!
I'm already eager to read the sequel which I've just gone right ahead and pre-ordered because James (Rock's brother) was adorable and sweet and I'm excited to read about him and Marika.
This is a story about Laura Nutters and her sister, Julia, the poor side of the family. They were only invited to their billionaire cousins' wedding out of obligation due to family ties and perception. Not because of closeness because you see Sangria cheated with her ex-Beau and the worst part she lost her job as a chef at Beau’s father’s five-star Michelin restaurant, The Hen. The wedding was being held in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia on a cool May day. All she wanted by being there was to show her ex-boss was she didn't care that his son married her cousin.
Therefore, no problem she just wanted the job she loved back. Instead, when the minister asked if there was any reason this couple should not marry, she snapped. In her defense, the entire congregation had turned to stare at her before she said a word. Somehow, they knew she’d break. “What? If Sangi wants my sloppy seconds, she’s more than welcome to them.” She wasn’t getting her job back now. Rock tells Mia in all seriousness that he can not have guests killed, all while moving forward. Toward The Blue Spot’s largest ballroom, Blue Hall.
“I understand that, Mr. Rock,” Mia, my assistant, huffed as she scurried after me. My jaw tightened at the nickname—Mr. Rock. Rock was my first name, not my last name. That was Diaz, but the only person here called Mr. Diaz was the designer. We wanted The Blue Spot to be the place for the wealthy to relax and mingle. It officially opened in a month, but we wanted the wedding of the decade’s reception to be held here. “Mr. Wiseley feels she has already caused problems and shouldn’t be allowed to attend the reception.”
“But you do know we don’t do that here.” “Of course.” She nodded, but her eyes widened, and she knew she wasn’t getting it. “We don’t remove guests.” He shook his head and lowered his voice. “No, we don’t kill people. We aren’t the mafia. This is a resort.” “Right. I knew that. Because that would be crazy and illegal. And we can’t have that.” “We would never hurt guests for any reason.” Mia winked at me with a nod. “Stop it.” He pointed at her. “Just tell me where he is, and I’ll speak to him.” “The guests arrived about half an hour ago for the reception. He should be in the Blue Hall with them.”
He asked Mr. Wiseley how he could help. Stopping him from further yelling at his kitchen staff whom he had made cry. Rock forced a smile on his face rather than the alternative to what he might want to do to Wiseley. That's when Wiseley screamed that, there is not just one problem, but two. “Do you realize, Mr. Diaz, that you have no chef? Did you really think you could pull off a wedding reception with no one to cook?” That was news to Rock. “There must be a misunderstanding... I’ll make sure the chef serves the food immediately.”
He began to turn, but Wiseley grabbed his arm and stopped him. Looking down at where he held him, it took all his strength not to take his hand and twist it behind his back. He wasn’t the type of guy who took kindly to being physically forced to do anything. “The chef? Do you mean the one who quit or the one who called my son ‘sloppy seconds’?” “The chef didn’t quit. I would have heard about—” A tap on my shoulder cut him off, and he glanced over to find Mia beside him. He thought she had left. “Uh, Mr. Rock, there’s a problem in the kitchen.
I came back as soon as I found out,” “The cucumbers need to be sliced thinly. So thin, I can see through it.” She went back to what she was working on, which was reading a few pieces of paper. The woman wasn’t even cooking? How was this helping? “Hey! Who are you?” Not only did she have a perfect ass and F-me curves, but she was gorgeous. Her green eyes sparkled like an F-ing jewel in a crown. This woman looked like she belonged on a throne, not in the kitchen. “I’m your savior,” she said with a large grin as she tapped his chest with her finger. More like she was his downfall.
Welcome to their meet-cute. Laura 2.0 becomes someone more outspoken and daring with Rock and so does Rock. Because he is doing something for himself for once, even if it is behind closed doors and no one can know about it. See how he almost loses the one thing that has brought him the most joy since before his parents and grandma passed. But who is her sister’s baby daddy?
This is a cute read if you're looking for a bit of a quick romance! No real drama, no heartbreak. Just a quick, relatively simple man meets woman, man realizes he needs woman in life, then boom! Happily ever after.
It starts right off the bat with Laura and her sister at their cousin's wedding... to her ex-boyfriend. After their break up four and a half months prior, she received a wedding invitation for the two of them. In that time, she was also fired from her job as a chef at The Hen, owned by her ex's father. He supposedly feared her (non-existent) resentment would cause trouble at the restaurant, so he let her go. She didn't really want to attend the wedding, but she wanted to prove that there were no hard feelings in the hopes that the father would see she was fine and would hire her back.
Let's just say that didn't go as she planned.
Rock, the owner of the resort where the wedding was being held, was asked to remove her. Where he found her was completely unexpected. This resort was everything to him, his dream. Yet it was all beginning to fall apart before it even opened. The wedding and the unexpected woman who he took to his office were going to be his undoing. He couldn't deny she had fantastic food, but he couldn't afford to keep her around with her supposed reputation.
In the end, both Rock and Laura get their very happily ever after. They both get their dreams, but with the added bonus of having a new love in their lives.
My ONLY criticism would be that these two certainly thought a lot about being "spicy." Like, a bit too much. Obsessively amounts, at times. Honestly, though, it's a short story that's less than 150 pages, so I get it, and it's no biggie. It's still a cute story, and I enjoyed it!
I adored this opening gambit into a new series by Elizabeth Lynx! Ruining the Billionaire's Wedding has set up a really intriguing world that I can't wait to delve further into! Rock is weeks away from officially opening up his new resort and everything that can go wrong is going wrong, including not having a chef for his restaurant, which is kind of a huge problem! Laura has pretty much had the worst few months ever, including a dumping, a wedding invitation from said ex, and a firing from said ex's father. Not great. So, she thinks she can fix it all by stepping in and helping out Rock with his chef issue, two birds one stone, right? He gets a chef, and she gets to impress her ex boss, and hopefully get her job back. What should have been simple and a no brainer was of course anything but, and this story made me laugh, giggle, want to reach in and smack characters upside the head, and sigh with happiness! So basically, it was a lot of fun! What are you waiting for?!
I enjoyed getting to know Laura and Rock. She always saw the best in people and was remarkably naive in many situations. She was invited to her exboyfriend’s wedding to her cousin and went to try and get her job back in his father’s restaurant. Unfortunately, she ended up making a scene at the wedding and when she tried to help at the reception she was called into the owner’s office. Rock was immediately attracted to Laura, but couldn’t allow her to jeopardize his new billionaire retreat. He ended up hiring her temporarily, but when her ex-boss found out. He started trashing the new restaurant and got his friends to cancel their reservations. Laura had some great ideas on how to change their minds and ended up getting her old job back. Unfortunately that wasn’t really what she wanted. You need to read this book to find out why. There is a lot of sex,so be forewarned.
I typically don’t like to leave reviews for less than stellar books because I know the author has worked hard on the book and I hate to leave criticism on their work. But I just feel this book could have been SO much better. It’s basically a novella, so it moves really fast, but the overall writing just dropped off at parts where more description was needed. Some general grammatical mistakes as well, such as using “principle” instead of “principal”. It’s a cute story with some LOL moments, but overall it needed about 50 more pages of dialogue to make it better.
This story is totally different from any other books I read so far. The story is captivating, intriguing, funny, and really good. The writing was done beautifully in this story and flows throughout the book without any errors. I absolutely love Laura. She's beautiful, a chef, sweet, and funny. Rock is all alpha male, smart, sweet and an owner of a resort. Take a journey with Laura and Rock on their new relationship with all the drama and connection. Amazing work Elizabeth Lynx!
Laura ex is marrying her rich cousin , his father was also her boss whom fired her after the break up. Yet her cousin invited her to Thier wedding. With her out burst and helping to serve the food since the resort chef quit she meets Rock the owner of the resort . With an father of the groom trying to get her kicked out she ends up having a life changing experience. Good book
This book was absolutely a great read. I found myself laughing in spots and just loved the characters in the story. Laura's cousin is marrying her ex and she gets fired by ex father from her job. She finds herself trying to help rock save the reception by cooking but when all hell breaks lose will she ever get the chance to be head chef? This was such a great read and just loved it.
There's some good mojo here. There's some good spice in the bedroom. There's also a good story and a plot that is well organized and flows smoothly. I believe this is my first romance by Lynx, but I will definitely keep my eyes open for more from her. A great introduction to the series and it was also a complete story with no cliffhanger. Thank you.
