Free-spirited Kitty Clark has never cared a fig for anyone else's opinion, and she won't marry simply because it's expected of her. She wants to be really, truly in love before agreeing to become the other half of someone's whole. She's often thought about remaining single forever and retaining her independence, but she does want to have a family someday. It's all too complicated. The seven meddling grandmothers of the sewing circle decide this must be remedied, and they set about finding her the man who will change her mind permanently.
After suffering an illness that damaged his vocal cords, Justin Sorensen has come to Topeka to study with famous opera singer Orinda Britt Perry. Having retired herself for similar reasons, Mrs. Perry is in a unique position to help him, and he prays this visit is successful - without music, he doesn't know who he is. When he meets the charming and vivacious Kitty Clark, he discovers someone who understands his connection to music and encourages him to become even more than he thought he could be.
But with an ill mother, an absentee father, and a brother who won’t hold up his end of the bargain at home, will Kitty ever be able to marry—now that she’s decided she wants to?
Amelia C. Adams is a wife, a mother, and a novelist. She spends her days dreaming up stories and her nights writing them down. Her biggest hero is her husband, and you might just see bits and pieces of him as you read her novels.
She loves all things historical and enjoys learning about days gone by, but she's glad she was born more recently (she won't say how recently or not recently) because the Internet is awesome, and she's glad she doesn't have to wash her clothes by hand in a galvanized tub. She has hit Amazon bestseller status twice, once for A Clean Slate and once for A Clear Hope.
Spirited, and determined Kitty says she will be an old maid, even though her hidden desire is to marry. But none of the young men in her town give her the feelings she desires.
Justin is from Vermont and is a vocalist. He is recovering from an illness that caused some damage to his throat. He’s come to town to train with a retired famous singer. Will a certain young lady named Kitty, who is a very talented piano player, give him a reason to stay in town?
Justin - a singer with throat issues Kitty- a pianist who helps her mother with twin toddlers. I enjoyed reading this lovely story that is well written with charismatic characters. Though the grandmothers were at work meddling, fate is more the dominant factor. Their story has a wonderful HEA! I do wish there were more character development or background information on Justin. I also enjoyed the visit back to the Brody hotel.
Another great book in a great series by one of my favorite authors. I loved Justin and Kitty's story and all the members of the sewing circle. I anxiously await the next book in the series.
