From Ninie Hammon, the sorceress of psychological suspense comes the next impossible to put down entry in her thrilling Through The Canvas series.

Bailey Donahue's past just caught up with her ...

After two long years in the Witness Protection Program, hiding from the man who murdered her husband, Bailey spots him in the background of a photo. From her own birthday. In the tiny town of Shadow Rock. There's no doubt about it, it's definitely Sergie Mikhailov.

Will Bailey finally get to testify against him and put him away forever?

Can she return to her old life and her daughter at last?

Before Bailey even gets the chance to try, she paints another psychic portrait, this one showing the image of her younger sister, Maria, lost to a wall of flames. Another loved one, dead.

Then Mikhailov kidnaps Maria, Bailey knows she has to save her. Along with T.J., Dobbs, and Brice, Bailey races against time to find Maria before the portrait -- and Bailey's worst nightmare -- comes true.

I was born in Socorro, New Mexico, sometime shortly after the earth cooled off. It’s clear that from the outset my parents never intended for me to amount to anything. How could I? With a name like “Ninie?” Please.

Fame and fortune do not come to people named Ninie Bovell (My maiden name.) Gabriella Bovary? You could work with that. Even something as pedestrian as Madeline Bovell or Rebecca Bovell or (though you’d lose points here for lack of originality) Elizabeth Bovell. But Ninie? I never had a chance.

If I sound a mite hostile, bear in mind that in one decisive stroke my parents sentenced their precious newborn daughter to a lifetime of explanations that began my first day at Muleshoe Elementary School. (Yeah, Muleshoe. The hits just keep on coming.) After a painful week, I had a rap down that I still use today:

“No, it’s not Ninnie like skinny and penny. It’s Ninie—rhymes with tiny and shiny. 9e…get it? And no, it doesn’t mean anything, it isn’t short for anything, long for anything, or a substitute for anything. It just is. (Pause here for the inevitable ‘Why?’) You got me, pal, I couldn’t tell you.”

I grew up in Texas, got a BA in English and theatre from Texas Tech University and snagged a job as a newspaper reporter. Didn't know a thing about journalism, but my editor said if I could write he could teach me the rest of it and if I couldn't write the rest of it didn't matter. I hung in there for a 25-year career as a journalist. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, but as soon as I figured out that making up the facts was a whole lot more fun than reporting them, I never looked back.

Now, I write suspense--every flavor except pistachio: psychological suspense, inspirational suspense, suspense thrillers, paranormal suspense, suspense mysteries.

In every book I write I try to keep this promise to Loyal Reader: I will tell you a story in a distinctive voice you'll always recognize, about people as ordinary as you are--people who have been slammed by something they didn’t sign on for, and now they must fight for their lives. Then smack in the middle of their everyday worlds, those people encounter the unexplainable--and it's always the game-changer."

This book is supposed to be the last book in the Through the Looking Glass series, and it does a thorough job of dealing with Bailey’s past. The story wraps up some of the unknowns that followed her through the first three books, but also leaves a door open to future books in this series if Hammon ever chooses to write more. Personally, I hope never to lose contact with Bailey, Maria, Bethany, T.J., Hobbs, and Brice – and of course Sparky and Bundy – as I have fallen in love with these characters.
As usual with a Hammon story, the pages couldn't turn fast enough - there were so many twists and turns and so much action that I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. I totally ignored my phone (something I rarely do) as I tried to finish it up because I just had to know what was going to happen next.
I hate spoilers, so I will throw out a few teasers instead. I will never look at Grinch in quite the same way again. I really value my eyesight. Adversity can bring on growth in character. Good friends are valuable. Never underestimate the power of a small gun or a small child.
Although I would recommend reading the four books in order, it would not be necessary as I believe each book does well on its own.

Did You Just Hear a Pop?
Yeah. That was my brain being blown once again by this astounding author. This series was already great. But this book--book 4 of the "trilogy"--well, sweet baby pig's feet. It went well beyond my expectations or even my hopes. This story tripped every button for me in the best ways possible.

Picking up again the unlikely heroes from the previous novels in this series, the author allows Bailey, Brice, TJ, and Dobbs to finish their remarkable journey in a grand flourish full of well-earned satisfaction. These four musketeers earned their HEA the hard way, and the reader, who becomes hopelessly entangled with them along the way, can't help but be thrilled for them. These guys leave an imprint on your heart that just makes you want the very best for them--they're truly that awesome.

Normally I might tell you that you could read this as a stand-alone book. In this case, however, I would recommend the opposite. Do NOT read this book unless you've read the others in the series or you'll simply be cheating yourself out of the enjoyment of learning who these people are and what they've been through prior to this story.

The end

Of the series is here. I was hoping for more books. There was a little window left that might allude to more books. I really enjoyed this series. The storyline is very unique. The main characters are carried through all the books in the series, and new ones added as the story needed.
The characters are very well developed and believable. I felt like I knew the main characters. The dialogue flows freely and smoothly. The editing is very clean with very few grammatical or spelling errors. The are no profanities or inappropriate sexual scenes.I really enjoyed this series and would recommend these books to any adult looking for good reading material.

Book 4 in the Through the Canvas series. This is the 4th book in the 3 book series, Through the Canvas, by Ninie Hammon, the sorceress of psychological suspense. And yes, you read me correctly…4 books in a 3 book collection. As usual, I have made the characters in this book real, and even tho SHE is finished with them, I am not. This book, like all of 9e's, is a real page turner. You're trying to call out warnings to the people in the book...but they don't listen!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for a 5th book.

Another winner!

As always, Ninie delivers a great read. The main characters are like old friends - you care about them and want everything to work out in the end. The books in the series could probably be stand-alones, but the characters do evolve, so reading in order would be best. There are no cliffhangers, though, which is great. I would like to read more books with these characters.

Fabulous!

While I am very sad to see this series end, I must say this book was a great conclusion to a fabulous series! The 'team', Bailey, Brice, T.J. and Dobbs, experience yet another thrilling adventure brought to life by one of Bailey's paintings. I will definitely be reading more from this author! Fabulous writing!

DAMN, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS THE 4TH BOOK THE LAST IN THE SERIES. BOO-HOO! AT ABOUT 29% I WONDERED HOW ALL THIS WAS GOING TO PLAY OUT. I DON'T SEE HOW ANY OF THIS CAN BE SOLVED, THE ENDING CAN'T BE GOOD. DANG, SIGH. ALL 4 OF THESE BOOKS WOULD MAKE GREAT ACTION MOVIES. WELL . . .. IT ENDED JUST RIGHT EXCITING, A LITTLE TEARFUL BUT I LOVED GOING THROUGH THE CANVAS, WHAT A TRIP. ;D

Wonderful storyline

Wonderful storyline and an unexpected way to conclude the series. I am so glad the storyline has a happily ever after ending and in such an unusual way. The path was twisted, scary very creative.

I finally found where to post a review. The fourth book in Ninie Hammon's "Through the Canvas" series, grips, bites deep and does not let go, even after you finish it!
Thrilling suspense with a supernatural twist - this whole series is simply brilliant.
Ninie Hammon is a "no shortcuts" author, who puts tremendous effort into her work. Attention to fine detail results in a well-rounded and satisfying experience for a discerning reader.
