I’m a huge fan of this author and before starting this series I had already read his other series Wolf Lake and loved it. But because I enjoyed The Wolf Lake series so I much I did worry that this series might not be as good as I was anticipating knowing his work but I was happily proven wrong! This series thus far is great, just as good (if not better) than the Wolf Lake series. Writing a continuing story over multiple books isn’t easy and being an avid reader I have started my fair share of book series that I end up not finishing because the continuing story and or the characters development sometimes falls apart, that isn’t the case with his work. One of the things I love most about this series and The Wolf Lake series is the character development and getting to see these characters that I become attached to grow and change from book to book. I also enjoy that the characters are not cookie cutter versions of people, although the main character is a victim and is the protagonist of the story she’s also human, she doe foolish and irrational things, she makes mistakes and has lapses in judgement just like any person would. I also appreciate that although
Darcy Gellar's deadly Nemesis Michael Rivers, aka The Full Moon Killer, has escaped from jail and won't be satisfied until he's slaughtered Darcy's children - Hunter and his sister, Jennifer, before her eyes - and can then do the same to her.
Her fears grow incrementally, leaving Darcy wracked with night terrors, that could be realised at any time. Who can she trust - even among her former colleagues at the Stiles PD, or the FBI who are also involved, as other victims are revealed and events grow ever-darker?
The townsfolk of Darkwater Cove seem to blame the Gellars' arrival in their sleepy town, for the ensuing wave of death and destruction. Darcy's on/off lover, Detective Julian Haines, despairs that Darcy will ever stop blaming herself for letting Rivers live, when she arrested him, enough to let the 'star-crossed' duo enjoy an HEA.
A riveting third-person narrative, with a dual time-line cleverly links past and present events, making Whispers in the Dark a highly-recommended, sure-fire winner for Dan Padavona.

I can't begin to describe how excited I was that Darcy actually gets to have a little relief from all of her emptionsl drama that she's had to deal with for years since the loss of her husband and her catching the Full Moon Killer. Julian is so perfectly suited for Darcy and he is very good for her children as well.
Hunter found some understanding for his mother's drive and Jennifer managed to dig deep and show her true strength all amidst some horrific situations.
As anticipated I didn't put this book down till I finished it and I am ready for the next in the series .
The answer is "yes". Unbelievable. Also a "yes" . How many times do your children have to be kidnapped before you decides Genoa Cove isn't a safe place for them and they should be relocated else where. How is it possible that one man can kill 5 mobsters in a closet. Why is the best security system available get breached more than once. Why trust Julian. Good story but too many outrageous and hard to believe scenarios.
These thrillers no matter by whom they are written all have a few things in common, which caused the four. Why do kids always have to be the biggest problem in a story? Jennifer was kidnapped, but still wanting all the freedom in the world even after Rivers escapes prison. Why do the kids seem to always be a problem instead of being helpful when danger comes knocking? I haven't read a book lately where teens do not sneak around and risk the family's safety. That makes no sense! The fact that Rivers escaped a max prison was another giant pill to swallow. In the end, all these things factored into the ending which was a new way or at least rarely used way to end a book which is why it got 4 stars and not 3!
I just can’t believe how good this series is! Dan Padavona writes amazing suspenseful stories. Each one gets more suspenseful than the last. That’s something I haven’t seen for some time. I love to read. This series has me going from one to the next as fast as I can purchase them. They must be read in order because you would lose the storyline otherwise. These aren’t cliffhanger books. If you love CLEAN suspense you’ll love this author. He’s amazing with his characters and storytelling!!! Wonderful author!!!
This is a story about a Serial Killer that just doesn't give up. I agree with comments from another reader on "Whispers in the Dark". The stories in Darkwater Cove just get better. I liked the suspense and twists from this story even more than books 1 and 2. I am looking forward to reading "The Vanishing Girl". These are my honest opinions on a book I was given.
As all the books in the series, this one had me up way into the night biting my nails in anticipation of what would come next. Incredibly engaging and fast paced, this book is a winner. Now off to read the next one. Not often do you find a fantastic series like this, and each book is better then the last…. Enjoy!
The Full Moon Killer is out of jail and still determined to kill Darcy and her kids. The family is back home but still on guard. With more twists and turns than the tornado that strikes this storyline get creepier and creepier. Don’t plan on sleeping, just turning pages!
I didn't finish until 4 a. m.and it was worth every second I missed from sleep! I love this series. Adventure, murder, love doubt and fear had me fixating on every page! Strongly recommend this one! Enjoy.
Loved this book. I am glad it finally had a great ending. This is a great thriller. This HS been one of the best thrillers I have read in awhile. I highly recommend this series. I'm on to the next book in this series
This series is a twisting story of the love a mother, who is a retired profiler has for her children. Typical teens trying their bounds to adulthood only to get them in more trouble that you could imagine!
These books are soooo good!! I love all the action and suspense. It keeps you in the edge of your seat. There’s some great twists and turns with a little romance. I love the characters.
Without a doubt Dan Padavona knows how to write. I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller from page one through 'til the end. The twists and turns captivates and draws the reader's attention throughout the plot. Great read! PottsvillePA_THU; 06102021.
More bodies, including friends. The FBI and police are called in. Another policeman (woman) is recruited and kidnaps Darcey's children. Then Darcey is grabbed. Everyone is caught in a tornado and more die.
This book is so filled with twists and turns. I couldn’t stop reading it, read straight through. The characters are engaging throughout the book, you find yourself wondering who’s the good guy and who has taken a step to the day side.
So good, not a lot of repetition on background to give readers a backstory if they haven't read the books in order, love that. The story and plot was steady with awesome twists, I mourn the loss of a couple of characters in an interesting twist. On to #4, can't wait!!
While I am enjoying the book series, I find some of the situations a bit unrealistic so cannot give 5 stars. Characters are believable but situations are a bit exaggerated.
Traveling some places you expect but then taking you places you not only don't want to go but holding your breath wondering what happens around the next turn.
These keep getting better with each book of the series. I jumped several times when my kids snuck up on me while reading it. This one ends on a cliff hanger for book #4…
Much better than the second book in this series, however, in these first three books now, Jennifer has been kidnapped (and saved) in all three books! Granted, her mother and brother were as well in this one, but come on now! It's pretty unbelievable. Not sure why the author would keep repeating this scenario. It's become redundant. I have the last 3 books in this series in my "to read" pile on my nightstand and I am hoping Jennifer will not be kidnapped yet again.
