A woman driven to marry out of desperation. A billionaire who cannot stand gold diggers. The heat between them will lead to one or both of them getting burned.
To support her unemployed mother and ailing grandmother, Alena Vetrov pretends to be a mail-order bride for quick and easy money. Only she gets more than she bargained for when she finally meets her fiancé. He’s not at all what she expected of the man she ‘met’ in the chat room, and, oddly, he doesn’t seem especially happy to be marrying her.
Determined to find out who killed his friend, billionaire Chen Lee assumes his friend’s identity to meet with a woman who may be the last link to his deceased friend. As soon as Chen meets Alena, he can tell that she’s hiding something. She claims to be in love, but Chen doesn’t buy it. So he puts her commitment to the test in dark and wicked ways.
Her marriage vows may turn out to be for richer, for poorer…in bondage and submission.
Advisory: This box set of short story episodes is part of a serial. If you're looking for a wickedly hot Dom to steam things up with, get BOUND TO HIM and start your submission today! But read only if you can take the heat...
After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
This has all the hallmarks of being the beginnings is a wild ride. Chen is reeling from the death of his friend and how it might tie into a mail-order bride, Alena. Upon meeting, he begins to break her down with rough, hard, hot intimacies that are not always in private. Dark and decadent!
I switched back and forth with the audio. The narrator, Jonathan Waters, has a really nice voice and keeps a good pace.
Audible book review This is the first three episodes of this story. Alena is a Russian woman looking to find a rich Chinese man to marry and ditch. She has done this before and needs to find a man that can give her the money to support herself, her mother and grandmother. Alena swears that this will be the last time she does something like this, but she is unaware that the man she meets at the company’s meet and greet is not the man that she was corresponding with. Chen has come looking for answers in his friend’s death. He pretends to be Peter and even though he despises Golddiggers Chen finds himself having feelings for Alena. This is only the beginning of their story.
This box set just sets up the story. I felt that the characters were one dimensional and seemed very outlandish. Chen and his sexual prowess was overdone and exaggerated too much for me. He may have a good reason for doing what he is doing but he truly just comes off as a bully that harms to get the truth out of someone. He does not come off as a good Dominant at all. As much as Alena is portrayed as not wanting to swindle men for money yet she has done it numerous times and being poor does not make it a good thing to do even if you regret it. These and other things made these characters unlikeable to me. Their story moves slowly, these snippets revolve around how rough Chen can be sexually and how Alena struggles with her enjoyment of it. Each of these books is only a few chapters long. Narrator Jonathan Waters Keeps the narrative flowing but I did not enjoy the cadence or the voices that were used for the characters.
With this being a box set I wrongly guessed it to be the complete story. It's one of those long drawn out stories so the author tries to make more money from it but quite frankly, I doubt many will bother. The story plot is tedious. I did wonder what the point of the conversations were and the long paragraphs of her\his thoughts about very random and unrelated topics. Now I see it's only part of a book I see why. For instance, her cat, named George after some woman that Virginia Wolfe had once referenced in a book. And Wolfe had a movie made about her love with Chopin. Not to mention, this cat seems to freely wander around a hotel they are guests in, including in the dining room where she feeds it bits of egg under the table. Yes it's that exciting! This could have been a really good book if it was as an actual book and left out all the pointless page filling.
This was an interesting start to a new series. Elena is a Russian mail order bride. She has been a mail order bride before and is still married to her first husband, who abandoned her. She's supporting both her mother and grandmother and is poor. Her latest husband to be is Peter, who has asked her to marry him and support her family. They are meeting for the first time at a hotel to see if they are compatible before they get married. But the person that says he is Peter isn't Peter. He's Chen. A friend of Peter's who is there to find out why Peter died. He sees a text on his friends phone and decides to keep the appointment and see if the women is why his friend died. This is a short story serial erotic novel with BDSM and some dub-con scenes. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the story plays out.
I got a box set that wasn't a full story, books 1-3. The stories were short so you could read in about an hour. I don't know if I would buy more of the story. I didn't feel a connection to the characters or events. Overview. Chen was meeting his dying best friend when the friend, Peter tells him to look over his swan. Chen goes looking for the swan only to find that it might be a girl from a dating service that sets up Chinese men and Russian women for marriage. When Chen meets to girl he thinks she is a gold digger and going to prove how wrong she was for Peter. That was were it ended in my box set.
Wow, what a book. Alena and her mother and grandmother are desperate for money and Alena has been marrying Chinese men for the money from them and the matchmaking service, but then immediately leaving them. She is about to meet Peter who has promised two million rubles as a dowry. However he has been murdered and his friend Chen is impersonating him to find out if Alena was involved in the crime. Really good story sprinkled with a great deal of BDSM. If this isn't your thing find another book! I liked the characters and enjoyed the slow burn romance. This review is for the entire series.
I really liked this first 3 episodes, can't wait to read the rest!
This book is hot and possessive, so if you like BDSM you should definitely read it! There was times that I got a bit frustrated and angry with Chen but could understand his actions. Alena seems sweet and naive but has a dirty and submissive side of her. Also liked the different languages and cultures in the book 💖
From the cover, you can tell the romance is going to be a nonconventional one with some BDSM tied in somehow. I apricate the interracial relationship, especially with an Asian male protagonist. That's quite rare to find. The story is okay so far, just interesting and steamy enough for me to keep going but nothing mind blowing... at least not yet.
Chen finds out his friend Peter is dead. Now he wants to find out what happened. He's got his friend's phone when there's a text that comes in. It's time to start the process of getting to the truth. Read the book to see what happens including someone named Alena.
Alena is playing with fire when she decides to pretend to be a mail order bride. Her groom to be is not as pleased with her as she had hoped. Chen Lee is about to play cat and mouse with Alena. Let's hope she can bend to his rules before they both get burned.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a pretty good start to this series. Definitely different than what I'm used to with the language being foreign sometimes but not confusing where you don't know what's said. Looking forward to continuing the rest of the books.
The book was a great read, it does en in a cliffhanger so reading the next box set is a must. Chen and Alena's chemistry is such a passion that it makes you continue reading.
This is first of three episodes of this story. It is one of those long drawn out stories. I have read other books from this Author and really enjoyed them. Not going to continue with the others in this series.
Haunting, dark. Not for the ininitiated. Explicit and sexy. Brown entices and grips the reader. Breathlessly delicious, leaves you hot and bothered. Great read!
