This sounds like a book for me, people who have a difficult past come together is really my thing when it comes to romance. So I am very positive about the description of this book and can't wait to get started.

Unfortunately, the book was a bit disappointing, it is not bad, but it did contain a number of things that I just didn't like as much as I had hoped.

Angela's past was indeed really violent, the event is indeed very violent certainly at that age. I liked that you know what happened early in the book because that makes you understand Angela a bit better. I don't know if I could make the choices she made at 17, I found her very calm under the situation. But everyone is different, of course.

Fast forward to now and I have to say that I sometimes had some trouble with the story there. I think Angela really copes very easily with a certain situation given her past. I will put it in a spoiler box.
Okay at the age of 17 she was raped and got pregnant. She keeps the baby. In the present she sleeps with someone for the first time since then and she is not bothered by it at all. Fortunately, I have no experience with this, but I can't imagine that you think it is as fantastic as she finds it. [/ spoiler]

I already noticed that that piece took me a bit out of the story. Until the moment described above, I quite liked the book, but I found this a bit strange. Then there is a kidnapping and although the kidnapping is not strange in itself, he has a security company so it makes sense that it takes such a turn, I think the reasoning of one of the kidnappers is just a bit strange. Another spoiler piece:
Okay, one of the kidnappers has the following reason: He disagrees with the fact that Mikael has someone else than him as his best friend. Earlier, he therefore made sure that the best friend's children were kidnapped. And now he has kidnapped the love of his life because they really should be best friends. I find it rather childish for adult people. [/ spoiler]

From this moment on I just didn't really the book at all anymore, I had a hard time finishing it afterwards. I also found the two epilogues a bit weird

I really liked the first part until the kidnapping! But after that the book slipped.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I'm not sure if I should have read the Carter and Elizabeth's book first. But I feel a bit disconnected with the characters on some part of the book. I like the first part of the book, where Mikael and Angela get to know each other. Then suddenly, it's been a few months since they started dating. There were not enough them in the dating phase shown when the suspense kicked in.. I would like to read more on how their relationship evolve

Also, the part where Mikael abuse his friend who betrayed him, that was uncalled for a man like him. I didn't expect that from him even if he's trying to protect the woman he loves and her son.

This was my second book by Kiki Malone. I really liked the first, so I had high expectations for this one. The writing was amazing, and the plot was easy to follow. The character growth was amazing to read. This does touch on multiple different sensitive subjects, and the author does warn us. I was not expecting how intense this story line was in this book though. It kept me on my toes, and I was shocked with every turn of events. There were a few actions that I felt wasn't truly in the characters original personality. Which made me feel a bit disconnected to the characters. I do have mixed feelings on the ending of the epilogue, but I'm interested in seeing what else Kiki Malone will be coming out with.

I received an ARC for a honest review.

I really enjoyed Letting Go by Kiki Malone. It was my first book by the author and what I learned very quickly was that the story is written with so much emotion and feeling and it was something I really enjoyed since this girl loves to be all up in her feels.

Angela and Mikael’s story was one to put me through a whole spectrum of emotions and also what kept me wanting to read. There were also twists and turns that had my heart racing and made me not want to set the book down. I really enjoyed the story’s nd writing and look forward to more from this author. 4 stars.

Even though you don’t have to read Holding On first (technically) I would totally recommend it. I liked the intensity of this book and the way these characters were written and the overall development of the plot and am looking forward to reading more from KiKi Malone in the future.

WOW! Just WOW! So, this is the second book by author Kiki Malone and although it can be read as a stand-alone I would strongly suggest reading her first book Holding On prior- there would be spoilers of you read them out of order...
The author has had a lot of growth as a writer between these two books- it really came through in this book.
The characters first appeared in her first book and the secondary characters are mostly from that book as well. The characters have amazing character growth, chemistry, backgrounds and the pages flow effortlessly. This story is one of emotion, touches on some touchy subjects and is sure to bring the reader a tear or two. A HEA is worked for and well deserved- for everyone involved. The book was one I couldn't put down, made me smile, laugh and cry... And then ended with a nice treat on a future book that left my eyes popped and jaw dropped with an OMG! I cannot wait for the next book!!!

I finished the first book by this author in one day, (it was Sunday, so I had the time), and dived into the next one right away. Unfortunately, it was no longer the weekend, but I stole a minute or two whenever I could, to get in a few more pages over the 3 days it took.
Letting Go starts out a little rougher for me, but I knew it would get going, and it did as I began to see the sparks flying with the H and h.
Again, I love a book that can keep me guessing, and this one did not disappoint.
The subject of the conflict in this one was a little hard (triggering), but it did not lower my 'like' of the story. Kiki does a great job of coming up with ways to mess with her character's lives. (I like doing that, too) And I really like her 'voice'. It is new to me and refreshing to read her characters.

Letting Go is a story that the author warns us about, as it touches on some hard topics, so please listen to that. I was prepared, and yet I wasn't prepared at the same time, as it was a little more intense that I could fathom, and I'm dark by nature so I'm always expecting dark intensity. There are twists upon twists, so that kept me on the edge of my seat, dropping f-bomb after f-bomb, which it totally my happy place. Of course, with those topics I hinted at, I did find myself a bit more emotional that I thought I would be, so my eyes may or may not have leaked a time or two, so you may or may not need some tissue on hand nearby. I know that this is cryptic, but why would I ruin any shock value that the author provided by naming names or giving the goods. The one issue I had was the ending, not sure how I felt about it, and that's all I'll say about it. Now, it's time y'all hit those one click buttons to experience Letting go for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was the first book I've read by this author, and I was hooked from the first page!! There is so much emotion right away, and continues throughout the book.. I definitely shed more than a few tears throughout the book!

There are some definite jaw dropping moments and twists and turns I didn't see coming! I'm definitely going to go back and read the first book in the series (which is an interconnected with this new release) because I truly love this authors writing style! I can't wait to read more from her!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
