Coraline Jones and her family move from Pontiac, Michigan, to Ashland, Oregon's Pink Palace Apartments. As her parents struggle to complete their gardening catalogue, Coraline is often left alone and meets their new neighbors, including Mr. Sergey Alexander Bobinsky, a Russian circus mouse trainer, Misses April Spink and Miriam Forcible, two once-famous and retired actresses, Wyborne "Wybie" Lovat, the talkative grandson of Pink Palace's landlady, and a mysterious black cat. Wybie gives Coraline a button-eyed rag doll he discovered that eerily resembles her. The doll lures Coraline to a small door in the apartment that is bricked up and can only be unlocked by a button-shaped key. That night, a mouse guides Coraline through the door, now a portal to an �Other World� more colorful and cheerful than her real home. Coraline meets her Other Mother and Other Father, button-eyed doppelg�ngers of her parents that appear more attentive and caring. After dinner, Coraline goes to sleep in her Other Bedroom, only to awaken in her real bedroom the next morning. After meeting neighbors Mr Bobinsky and Miss Spink and Forcible, Wybie tells her about his grandmother's twin sister who disappeared in the apartment as a child. Undeterred, Coraline visits the Other World the following two nights, meeting the button-eyed Other Mr Bobinsky, the Other Misses Spink and Forcible, and the Other Wybie, who is mute. On her third visit, the black cat follows her and is able to speak in the Other World. The Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in the Other World forever, on the condition she has buttons sewn over her eyes. Horrified, Coraline attempts to flee but fails. After questioning the Other Father, Coraline has a conversation with the cat as they walk into the empty part of the world the Other Mother created. After breaking the handles of the locked door which leads to the room where the portal is, the Other Mother has blocked the portal, transforms into a menacing version of herself and imprisons Coraline behind a mirror. There, Coraline meets the ghosts of the Other Mother's previous child victims, including the sister of Wybie's grandmother. The spirits reveal that the Other Mother, whom they call the �Beldam,� is actually an evil witch that used rag dolls like Coraline's to spy on them, taking advantage of their unhappy lives and luring them into the Other World with happier and joyful lives. After agreeing to let the Beldam sew buttons on their eyes to let them stay, the Beldam locked them in the mirror and "consumed" their lives, leaving their souls trapped. To free their souls, Coraline promises to find the children's real eyes.

Una historia, hermosamente narrada, un mundo maravilloso y una villana de miedo

'Coraline' es una historia que me parece fascinante y es que es terrorificamente inquietante todo lo que le sucede.

¿Qué pasaría si te mudas a una casa donde no conoces a nadie y la mayor parte del tiempo estás aburrida. Coraline para pasar el rato decide empezar a contar la cantidad de objetos que hay dentro de la casa y así es como empieza todo...contando las puertas de dentro de la casa.

La base de la historia me ha encantado, ese ambiente tenebroso que rodea a Coraline y la casa donde vive, esas ganas de querer conocer y aventurarse en cosas nuevas y desconocidas. Y creo que aquí radica el juego del autor, llevar al lector hacia un lugar fúnebre, donde no podrás dejar de leer aunque el miedo se vaya apoderado de ti.

¿Realmente da miedo? Depende de la imaginación de cada cual. A mi me ha gustado mucho, asi que os ánimo a leerla si todavía no lo habéis hecho.

Libro que cuenta la historia de coraline que se sumerge en otra vida paralela , su misma casa , pero otra madre y otro padre iguales que sus padres pero por ojos botones, si vistes la película, es un calco al libro, no se han dejado nada.
De las pocas que visto que han respetado la historia del libro.
La madre araña que recoge almas de niños y todos la temen.
Quiere quedarse a coraline, pero ella se niega y quiere volver a su vida con sus padres los cuales la hacen poco caso..
Se enfrenta a ella y ayuda a los niños a escapar y volver o irse sus almas libres.
Y regresa con su gato negro y sus vecinos y sus padres que no recuerdan nada de lo que les sucede...
Me a gustado el libro. Lectura rápida y bien desarrollada.

Good script

I didn't realized it was the script and not the novel until I opened it. It was not a disappointment but an interesting opportunity. I had never read movie script before, this led me to rewatch the movie. I tried to keep up reading the script and watching the movie in synch but it was difficult to achieve. However I found the experience entertaining, the exact description of what you see in the movie. If you want to read the story and depict everything that happens in the movie at the same time, this book will be good for you.

J'avais misé beaucoup d'espoir sur ce livre (trop), dû aux éloges que plusieurs personnes m'en avait fait. Du coup j'avoue être un peu déçue au final. Je n'ai pas aimé l'univers que j'ai trouvé trop étrange. Je ne m'attendais pas du tout à ce genre d'histoire, ni à ce type de personnages. Le livre se lit bien et se lit vite, et le personnage principal est assez attachant malgré tout. Ça n'est pas un mauvais livre mais il n'est tout simplement pas à mon goût. Je ne suis pas fan de ce genre d'univers farfelu.

Nuestro autor Neil se supera siempre con cada palabra que escribe. Estas historias son de lo más para niños( a partir de una edad 8-9) y adultos.
Increíble como te lleva de la mano hasta lugares insospechados donde la mente va y viene haciéndote ver una cosa cuando en realidad es otra.
La historia , los personajes tan peculiares y carismáticos sumados a los plots hacen que el éxito esté garantizado.
Brillante, impactante, original y muy adictivo

Coraline es curiosa, valiente, inteligente y tiene alma exploradora; propia de cualquier niño de su edad. Adentrarse en su otro mundo, sus otros padres y sus otros vecinos será el motivo para encontrar lo que ha perdido. No todo era lo que parecía en un principio.

Un libro juvenil, con una trama oscura, llena de fantasía y trasfondo. Me ha recordado a algunos libros de Roald Dahl y a algunas adaptaciones cinematográficas de Tim Burton.

Cómo me gustan los cuentos infantiles, este, pese a que no me gusta leer sobre terror, me gustó mucho por sus reflexiones, es un libro corto que puedes leerles a tus hijos y a más de disfrutar de una buena lectura aprenden valores sobre la familia, el saber estar agradecido con lo que tienes, en espacial si tienen a unos buenos padres.

Me han gustado mucho tanto el libro como la película, por la historia, de miedo y aventuras, pero también de crecimiento personal de la protagonista. Coraline tiene que tomar decisiones difíciles, pero también empieza a entender un mundo más rico y complejo, el de sus padres.

Wybie no aparece en el libro, cosa que no me ha gustado mucho. Me gustaba que Coraline tuviera un amigo dentro de todo el caos. Otra diferencia es el juego al que se somete Coraline con la otra madre para salvar las almas. Toda esa aventura no aparece en la peli.

Pienso que el libro es algo más oscuro y tenebroso que la película. Ésta, aunque con algún susto, está más suavizada para el público infantil.
