The Easy Life is a book about cleaning and managing your home as the seasons change. I really like self-help books which are divided by seasons. It seems like a natural rhythm to me.
The book contains lots of useful, if basic, information. I listened to the audio, and I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s reading (she read it herself). On the other hand, she occasionally addressed topics I found unexpected, and I wanted them to end quickly. A couple of examples are packing for vacation and pet care.
Overall, I enjoyed the book (even as a veteran of the housework wars) and will apply a few to tips to my repertoire. Having to look up a couple of British terms was a fun perk.
An ok read - it does have some good tips and tricks, but anyone who has time to do this much housework, work and raise a family is a better person than me!!!
I feel like this is a great book for beginners, you can truly dip in and out when you need. I found the layout to be easy to follow, for each tip the paragraph/sentence is isolated by a line and a gap from the other tips. I like this as I find it easier to find the tip I need but also it’s less overwhelming broken down into bite size chunks. It definitely delivers on the cleaning you home and does have a theme of home management though I would have liked a bigger section on general home organisation as I found it very basic and skimmed over.
If you have many books on cleaning and home management this might not be the book for you as many of the tips are similar to others I have read, that being said if you want lists and notes sections maybe this could work for you. I will say people new to home management would definitely benefit from giving this a read, especially as it’s also ordered in season as to what extra tasks you may take on in winter instead of spring so you can use this book all year round.
Overall I did like this book and I will continue to use if in the future.
I love Lynsey for her down to earth and no nonsense approach. The reason I have only given this 3 stars is because it covers so many things covered before. Having said this, the purpose of the book is to give structure to the myriad of things which only need doing a few times each year. It comprehensively succeeds here and would be great for students moving out at this time of year and for anyone setting up a first home.
Suitable for those who live in 4 season weather. Provide many tips and tricks in managing and cleaning your house, plus checklist/to-do-list for your references. I like the challenges offered by the author.
Great read for getting yourself organized at home.Particularly like all the cleaning tips using things you already have in your home. Highly recommended.
I’ve been reading this on and off this year. Lots of good tips. Like the fact it’s written in seasons. Will keep on my bookshelf to pick out bits over the seasons to get me motivated!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve read so many books over the years similar to this & had so much enthusiasm to try it all but got bored quite quickly. With this book, it’s broken down into seasons & the hints & tips in bullet point method so I found it so easy to follow & keep me motivated throughout. It also has useful checklists inside that I will definitely be using. Highly recommended book 👍🏼😊👍🏼
