Being guarded is an understatement when it comes to Grace who has had to experience major losses in her life back to back. After losing her baby girl and the love of her life at the same time, she has become accustomed to losing the people closest to her and as a result, she has shielded herself from building bonds and relationships with people for fear of getting hurt again. But when she presses the reset button on her life, she winds up meeting Malik who shows true, genuine interest in her from day one. Due to Grace’s past, she remains guarded even though she begins to feel something for Malik. However, her guarded demeanor almost pushes him away. After some deep soul searching and some advice from those close to her, she comes to realize that Malik might be the one who could help her move forward in her life. After getting pregnant as a teenager, being forced to give her baby up by her mother and being shipped off to live with her father in Vegas, Grace returns to Chicago to work at her dream job. Not knowing what really happens to her child, as well as the love of her life, Grace starts to date a co worker, but doesn't know that her past will eventually come back around.

Although the book could have used a little bit more editing, I enjoyed the book. I'm not really happy that it ended in a cliff hanger, and you'll have to buy the other 2 books to find out what happens. But I do have to say that it is a very good and intriguing story line.

Decent read

I enjoyed the premise of Silent Cries for Help but the typos and redundancy of explanations throughout the book drove me crazy. The ending was abrupt but the cliffhanger ending makes me curious to see where the author takes the story.

I give this book 3 stars.

I enjoyed this book as it enlightened my vision on how entangled relationships begin. Although the words and the vision of the author were repetitive it made for a great story which will lead into a book two.

Grace's mother has me speechless! What kind of mother is that?! Yes, Grace shouldn't have been have sex much less get pregnant but I saw just why she hid it from her mother. She is one cold hearted piece of work! Thankful that Desmond and his parents stepped up to adopt Faith. What I dont understand was why Grace never checked back on.Desmond. He was just as hurt as her. Yes she didnt have any say in what happened but when she got to Vegas, she could have at least check back. Even if it meant her waiting till she was off age. Idk why her and Desmond just wont get over themselves and have a much needed conversation. They are adults now and as much as I agree with his mom about keeping Faith protected, it doesnt mean that they should talk to at least attempt to close that chapter. Now with a dream job, with who seems like a great supervisor, the one thing she wanted to avoid is happening. Malik is a slime and I hope Grace stays far from him! All that talk bout being real and he doing all kind of crap. Chantel is NOT letting this go!

WOW!!! Opening up with a gripping bang and ending with an EXPLOSION…. “Silent Cries For Help” is everything from love, family drama, heart breaking betrayal and EVERYTHING in between.

FROM BIRTH TO GIVING BIRTH…Poor Grace has been dealt a bad hand in life. And while she has yet to deal with the painful baggage of her childhood trauma...Grace decides to dust herself off, let her guard down and reemerge on the dating scene. Attractive, naive and inexperienced makes her an easy target for Malik... The suave, calculated, manipulative, wolf in sheep’s clothing.

This is my first read by Loryn Landon and even though I want to fight her over the JAW DROPPING ENDING, I most definitely look forward to reading more of her work 😂 With a little fine tuning on the editing, “Silent Cries For Help” is a 5🌟 READ. I’m diving into Part 2, so I suggest you 1-CLICK NOW!

Recipe For Disaster

This would have been so much better had it been edited. It really irks me to read books published like this, and even more so when tackling such a serious issue.
The storyline, however, is excellent. I love how the author took her time laying out the backstory and setting the stage.
Grace is so naive. Despite having a good life with her father and stepmother, they failed her by not getting her help to deal with the situation that led her to them. Grace is carrying around too much in her mental. She hasn't learned to deal, communicate or relate to people. I love her drive, but she needs therapy.
Looking forward to the next installment; I just hope it's edited better.

Great cliffhanger!

Book 1 of 3 in this series started and ended with some jaw droppers. I was immediately drawn into the storyline after Grace losses a child in quite a disturbing manner. However, the remainder of the novel spent a lot of time (too much if you ask me) reminding the reader of the same things about our main character. She’s guarded. And she’s also guarded. Oh, and she happens to be guarded....it was unnecessary. That, combined with the need for editing tweaks, put this read at 3.5 stars from me.

Grace gets pregnant at 16 but is forced to give the baby up then move to another state with her dad. She loses her first love, her child & her whole life is basically turned upside down.
Years later she moves back to her hometown to start over. She has a new job & she also runs into her first love. He's moved on & she's trying to move on as well so she starts seeing a guy from work, Malik.
Malik is doing & saying all the right things but he's got some hidden secrets. And a temper!

So !ugh is happening!

Poor Grace and Desmond forced apart like that! Just when it seems like things are going so right, Malik shows his ugly side. Des dealing with Lexi and her foolishness! So much but the ending/cliffhanger, wow! I must keep reading to see what happens next. Great start to the series but I have to point out there are a lot of repeats on subjects that aren't needed, and a lot of grammatical errors editing is definitely needed!

Ok 😒

This story would be good if it was not so poorly written! There are constant repetitive sentences, thoughts and phrases that distract from the point being made. A lot of the story is just "fluff" that does not add any value to the plot and the even though there are a lot of words, the characters like real substance. Get on with it and tell the story already! I'm hesitant to go any further!

A little slow but a good read

From the beginning reading about grace i was very interested to know more and more the pages kinda dragged for me and it took me a week to finish but once i got to 50% i felt like the pages flowed better and the ending was very good and i will also read the second book..

Grace hides a secret from her overbearing mother, which leads to chaos and being sent to live with her father. Years later, she moves back to Chicago and her life new, which includes a new job and a new suitor. The only thing she didn’t bank on, was a blast from the past.

Unfortunately, Grace finds out that she is not the only one holding a secret.

The story line of Silent Cries for Help is one that hits close to home for countless women. Unfortunately, it's the untold story in many families. While the taboo topic was interesting, the story had too much of nothing, a WOW moment and, then we're at the ending. I believe this could've been a great read, had the author author taken the story beyond the surprise ending.

Too much

I will say the story kept me interested because I wanted to know what wad going to happen next. I can't say that I'm a fan if this author's writing style. The simplicity & repetitiveness kind of threw me off. However, the ending pow does leave me wanting the next installment.

Off to a good start

I liked the story. It dealt with a lot of relatable issues. The characters felt like people that I know. I liked the author's writing style. It was simplistic yet pulled me into the story.
The many minute errors were frustrating. There was a lot of fluff. It took a while to get to where the author was leading you. It ended with a bang so I will probably read the next book to see what happens next with these characters.

Wow!

Malik is real crazy I wish that Grace would've followed her first instinct and never gave him a chance. Chantel and Malik need to be with each other bc both are crazy.
