I read On the eighth day she rested over so I could travel with Ruth all the way to this sequel. This book didn’t disappoint me. Ruth kept me in my feelings and Ms Mason knows how to keep you reading to the end. I hate to say but I still want more. The theme of both books will tear your heart out of your chest.

Wow! This was the ultimate follow up to an amazing book written by this author. She made it a seamless transition from then to now but without any compromise. The growth of the ladies individually and as a group was spot on. Everything changes whether for the good or indifferent. I absolutely adored this book and can only pray the characters would not keep quiet and we get a part 3.

To watch Ruth fall and ride again; to see her be the catalyst of bringing her friends together and mending their relationships; and then working through her relationship with the then boyfriend and the now boyfriend. That was the toughest task.
JD Mason is a gifted writer and I have enjoyed her work from the beginning.

Just when you think you know what's happening next, J. D.Mason surprises you. Loved each of the characters and their perspectives.

This book is about a woman who had a hard abusive marriage that she was able to come out of victoriously. But in the process, she lost contact with her close circle of friends. Then tragedy struck her once again in the very arena that she got her success - loosing her assistant to an abusive husband and where she, too, almost lost her life. Its a story of rise, fall, and rebuilding. Good read but some typo in the book; typos to me means that whomever did her editing didn't do such a good job and/or maybe this book was rushed to press. However, the story of what lead to her place of success, what lead to her failure and loss of friends, and the rebuilding of those friendships lets one know that it's truly not over until God says its over - if we'd only listen to ourselves and are able to see those that want the best for us. It did tell of love - lost, gain, lost again, regained; sometimes, we need to get out of our own way.

It was nice to read something that actually kept you grounded in reality. I've read countless books where the hero/heroine was gorgeous and had it all...and in the end, settled back into the perfect happily-ever-after. I love the escape but sometimes you need a book like this to remind you that life and love aren't always perfectly mapped toward the HEA. Ruth was the true definition of a heroine (she had a hard life but she always came back swinging). It would have been nice to see her end up with Prince I...too nice; but reality kicked her butt and she realized her life was with Prince II. I enjoy books that put a spotlight on friendship; especially the dynamics of good "girlfriends". Every woman should have a May, a Bernie, and a Clara in their corner.

JD Mason is one of my favorite authors and this sequel did not disappoint. Ruth's life was still a rollercoaster with highs of being a national author/lecturer and lows of feeling responsible for her assistant (no spoiler 😊). I was surprised at the ending--hoping she Adrian would finally have their HEA, but it was not to be. Great story and highly recommend this book be added to everyone's TBR list.
