This book almost became #5 DNF, but I did and gave it one star as I couldn't give it a zero
Since Amazon carries this book, too, I usually leave an Amazon review. I did take a look at other disgruntled readers which were few and far between. I came across Crompton who was generous with two stars, but I need to include what Crompton reviewed because I didn't want to repeat his/her thoughts because s/he covered his/her unhappiness quite well:
I think my face is stuck in a look of exasperated confusion because it's been that way since I started this book.
1. It's insanely rushed. The plot is very simple and linear with really no depth or twists and turns at all.
2. The conflict between the characters is horrifically illogical. They have sex pretty quick then suddenly, immediately after, there's a fabricated argument about them both trying to take charge of the situation which makes zero sense. Yeah, no. Because no one, NO ONE would actually argue with a member of a military organization on tactics if they had no military experience.
3. The inner monologues are what carries the attraction and the story throughout the whole book...like, nothing other than "he's so hot" and "my bear wants her so bad because she's hot" and then use variations of this for another 100 pages.
4. There is zero outside anything and every possible internal conflict that arises is quickly dispelled.
5. The portrayal of anything military is cringe-worthy to those that know anything about the military.
I have to agree with Crompton (2-star review) on his/her points, too, so I won't reiterate them specifically. I will add a list of my own complaints.

6. Absolutely NO meaningful research was devoted to this story involving the native Alaskan tribes. The Inuits mainly occupy Northern Canada, not Alaska. When I was living in Kotzebue (second most-northern city in Alaska), the main tribe was the Inupiaqs. They do not like being mistaken as Inuit, I can tell you. Their language and culture are vastly different as Inupiaqs are more maritime (as in whale hunting) than the Inuits. That doesn't mean there wasn't a few Inuits there, but there were plenty more Finnish indigenous, Siberian indigenous, etc., there, but they were mostly nomadic.
7. Not until the very end of the book did the author even infer that the only way to get to Wales, AK was by plane. It took me forever to find a company that would fly you from Wales to Anchorage or Fairbanks, but it is doable. What really pissed me off was that the author assumed that foot travel (even on the back of a bear shifter) was doable to do in a few days. Uh... it IS 558 miles across snow-covered tundra, not including the mountain ranges, glaciers, and swamps. Not doable at all. And to think that I would buy that? Huh uh, girl. Not at all. And shame on you for trying to lay that line of crap on me, thinking that I would believe that.
8. And I don't buy the 100+ miles from Chatanika to Fai Fairbanks, either, on foot. No freakin' way.
9. Here's a good question for you, Ms. Alters. Why would you contact the sheriff in Fairbanks to report an attack by Russian spies? The Alaska Department of Public Safety thusly says: "The Alaska State Troopers are primarily a rural police department. Alaska does not have counties, Sheriff's offices or deputies." Since we are talking about possible terrorists, the FBI and the Alaska State Troopers should had been notified. I would also throw in the Native Village of Wales Tribal Council should also be notified as Wales is a tribal village. This could involved tribal law first, too.
10. Why would Julie be delivering mail to Fairbanks? Why in the world would little ol' her be using such a teeny tiny plane to deliver mail to the second largest city in Alaska when there's the USPS planes plus all the Alaska Airlines' 737s that also haul mail for the USPS? Also, the USPS doesn't supply a private contractor with his or her own plane. They hire private contractors who already have.a plane to do the job for small villages that don't have approved runways for the bigger jets. The book doesn't state she mainly flies to small villages. (Sheeh! Some people still think we Alaskans get mail via dog mushers!)
11. I do like to see women trained in throwing knives, but most throwing knives meant to hurt someone or something are usually the specially designed throwing knives, not the typical knives we usually have to keep us alive and well. (And I'm not referring to ulus though I really LOVE these knives, but they ain't for throwing!) Knives meant for tundra survival don't hit targets at that distance easily because of imbalance issues. Now I'm not saying that they aren't for hand-to-hand combat because they can easily be used as such.
12. There should had been more "meat on the table" with this story. Russian spies? Maybe if you can really convince me. I would be more likely convinced that computer ransom hackers had attacked the Alaskan Pipe Line, but that's just cyber attacks, folks. Russian spies would be far more boring in appearance rather than the stereotypical Boris from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Sure, the writer did inject a little humor in her choice of villains, and I might have accepted that if it weren't for all the errors and stressors on my already broken suspensions of disbelief.
13. Too much of a rush job, and where's the REAL end of this story? Not where it did end. I looked for an epilogue, but none was to be had.
15. I couldn't get into Jace or Julie, not with all the problems I was having with the lack of research, so I won't talk about them.
So all in all, I would not recommend this book or the series. Can you return an ebook? I'll try, but I might not even waste my time doing that when I could be rereading a far better book. I just don't understand why all those who gave this book five stars could get passed all these basic problems? As an editor, I would be screaming and pulling my hair out by the roots.

An action packed read full of chemistry. I was completely absorbed in the action of this story, hoping Julie and Jace managed both to escape and capture the bad guys. It certainly wasn't the bad guys day when they decided to target Julie. I enjoyed the chemistry between Julie and Jace and loved how Jace's bear claimed Julie from the start. I do love a happy ending.

Excellent read
This was a surprisingly excellent story. It seems like I'm kind of used to sort of weak storylines these days with very little in the way of real excitement, but this book delivered on every level.
The military type adventure was well thought out and gripping and was a perfect balance with the romance storyline. It was exciting and kept my attention from start to finish.
The sex scenes were well written and weren't out of place in the story as a whole. And there were plenty of them.
The only small gripe I have is the two instances of the FMC flying of the handle for literally no reason and sort of struck me as having conflict for conflicts sake, which I absolutely detest in a book. It always just seems to me some authors don't think the story is complete without stupid arguments for the couple to "overcome", regardless of the fact that's there's literally bullets and knives flying, Russian spies, a killer snow storm, hypothermia, head wounds and god all knows what else for the couple to overcome also. But luckily each stupid argument was resolved within two paragraphs, so it's all good.
A very well written book with only a few small typos/mistakes that in no way detracted from the experience.
100% would recommend and am now off to try the next in the series.

Julie wanted to only to be in the air
Julie was Inuit living in Alaska. Her passion was flying. She worked as a mail carrier, flying to different military stations around Alaska. She was friends with many male soldiers. She wanted one in particular, Jace. He was a soldier too , rarely speaking around her. He was someone she wanted.
Jace always briefly glanced at Julie, his bear wanted to only to be near her. He didn't know what to do about that. He was special forces as a bear shifted unit. Saying it was complicated was an over simplified word.
Julie had to beat the storm for her next delivery, just as Jace left the restaurant they were in. He must've got a call for a mission. Too bad they couldn't even say hi.
Jace's mission was to stop possible Russian terrorists.
Julie arrived at the next post, Dimitri usually met her at she arrived, that was odd, but ok. When she got to the office, she only heard whispers. The tv was off, which was normally on. Strange again. She decided to go in the back. A group of men were opening states if weapons! She was silent entering and quickly decided to leave, but stepped on something, making noise. Dimitri was unusually sweet. She needed to get out of there!! Her mind was reeling, they were terrorists. She needed to get back on her plane. She needed a distraction. She threw a knife, it landed in a shoulder of one of the men.

I liked this story about a Special Forces grizzly shifter, Jace, and an Inuit postal pilot, Julie, who have been acquainted from afar and have a humdinger of an introduction one snowy night.
Jace has admired Julie from across a local bar but has never taken it any further, despite his bear's encouragement. Not only does his unit frown upon shifter-human relationships but his pack is even worse. He has found that one-night stands suit him better, and he hasn't even had one of those in the last year. When his CO calls him out on a mission involving a Russian spy sleeper cell, he takes his bear form and heads out. He has no idea what fate has in store for him before he makes it back to base.
Julie plans to make a mail delivery and spend her weekend hiking but what she sees in the post office of a small outpost on the border changes everything. She finds herself in big trouble and when her small plane is shot down she figures it is all over with, then she wakes up to the sight of a grizzly bear turning into a human male. Jace, her secret crush, is a bear? Wow.

I absolutely loved reading this story about Jace and Julie. Talk about action from start to finish. There are Russian spies in Alaska and Jace is sent to investigate, but Julie, who is a pilot for the US postal service. She wants to make it to Wales before a big storm hits.
Julie makes it to the airfield inWales and delivered the mail but her contact Dimitri wasn’t at his desk to take the delivery. Julie hears voices and goes to investigate and sees six Russians with guns and Dimitri is the leader, he spits Julie and demands she come back. Julie takes off in her sea plane but she is shot down.
Jace sees the plane go down and races to see if Julie survived. He pulls her out of the wreck and takes her to a safe house. Then they have to fight for their lives. This book is full of action to keep you on the edge of your seat and enough passion to keep the fires burning. It all works out in the end and they have their happily ever after.

Julie is an Alaskan Inuit, but doesn't conform to her peoples norms, she loves to do daring things like skiing, hiking and flying, that's her job piloting for the post office. She's had a huge crush on a very broody soldier for the longest time, like years, but he has never once approached her, he's the only man that makes sparks for her. She works with a bunch of hunks, but not one has ever made sparks for her just Jace and he hasn't even touched her!
Captain Jace Branton is a Special Ops bear shifter, unknown to the gorgeous Julie his bear has always had a thing for her. He'll never tell her that though because not his unit and especially his clan forbids bear shifters from being with humans.
Juie and Jace are thrown together when her plane is shot down by Russian spies that Jace is looking for and the attraction is unavoidable. Will Jace throw it all to hell with his unit and clan when he finally finds his mate, or will he forgo having a life with the beautiful Julie in his arms?

Good action but the ending?
I had never read this author so thought I would give this shifter romance a try. The action parts are fast moving but the editing really needs attention! Not to give away too much, but at one point it is stated that there are 5 bad guys in a vehicle that the hero bear attacks. He handles 4 of them, but no mention at all of the 5th guy. He just disappeared? Then there’s a 6th guy who is apparently wandering through a blizzard (somehow he was never in the original vehicle) but is trudging many miles through a blizzard to catch up with our shifter and his mate, a human. So the Special Ops shifter takes care of all the bad guys but there is still one out there, presumably coming after our couple…..But the book abruptly ends with no satisfying ending to resolve this outstanding threat! The author also sets you up to thinking we will meet our couples’ parents, with all the drama that would result with a shifter mating a human, yet that never happens either! I thought the next book would cover this one but it doesn’t. So disappointing.

Awesome story but this special forces bear shifter
Jace is a special forces bear shifter who sent on a mission to hunt down some spies. Julia is a human who is also a postal service worker and plot of a seaplane in Alaska.
Julia encounters Russian spies on the last stop of her postal route. She escape, however her seaplane was shot at and crashed. Will she be rescued?
This fast action drama is very intense suspense with the main characters who are unique with a variety of skills, sexy, protective, and the banter between Julia and Jace was funny because of punny bear jokes. I enjoyed the story because the heroine is fierce and a pilot. I once was in a two seater plane piloted by my uncle and remembered that flight as the highlight of my life.
The story is engaging, highly recommended, and appreciated. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This fast action drama is very intense suspense with the main characters who are unique with a variety of skills, sexy, protective, and the banter between Julia and Jace was funny because of punny bear jokes. I enjoyed the story because the heroine is fierce and a pilot. I once was in a two seater plane piloted by my uncle and remembered that flight as the highlight of my life.
The story is engaging, highly recommended, and appreciated. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

To start with, the cover art depicts a polar bear behind the guy. The story is about a guy who shifts into a Grizzly Bear (NOT a polar bear!). Unfortunately that was a big giveaway to how the story would go when it's first mentioned that his grizzly is running... I really wanted to quit at 56%, but decided I was over half done & should try to finish, but I had to skim a lot towards the end to just get thru it, as it was just that bad. The writing quality was not the greatest. I felt like it was fan-fic or something, not something published. There was way to much repetitiveness in the book, too. The plot was full of holes and there were a lot of distractions to the story. I really never got where I liked Julie or Jace, I kinda felt they were flat/one dimensional. Definitely not a story I would read again, and I won't want to read more from this author either.

Jace is a special op bear shifter in Alaska. Julie is a pilot who delivers the mail in Alaska. Jace and Julie have crossed paths before and they are aware of each other but they have never spoken. Jace has been sent on a mission to Wales to track down some Russian terrorists. Julie is headed to Wales in her plane to deliver the mail. Julie comes face to face with the Russian terrorists and barely escapes with her life when her plane is shot down. Jace is in the area and sees what is happening to Julie's plane, can her get to her in time to save her before the terrorist shot her. Jace and Julie are chased through the wilderness in a massive storm by the terrorist but they still find the time to connect. The characters are amazing and the story had me on the edge of my seat. I love this book and plan to read it again.

The first part of this novel i found was quite good, but then it sort of got boring with all the sex and constant talking and repeating them selves....Instead of hunting down the spies which was what Jace should be doing! Then it came to where he went out to put an end to it once and for all, after attacking and killing five he ran back to the cabin and was nearly killed taking down just one man! WTF. Then more talking, more sex, more talking. So much more could of been added to this novel to make it a good one but the author i felt failed. The author could of added where they met his family and got permission from the clan to wed, so much more needed and was not in this novel, just some useless boring stuff.. The first half, when the plane goes down gets 2*`s but the rest not worth it.

Jace & Julie: TRIGGERS: gun running, violence. This story started a little slow but does pick up. Julie is an Inuit mail airplane pilot. Jace is in a special forces team of the military with other shifters like himself. Julie has been crushing on Jace for a while but Jace tends to avoid her. Jace doesn't date and it's against the rules to be with humans for more than just a night. But he has strong feelings for Julie, which of why he avoids her. After stumbling accidentally into a gun running deal, Julie is forced to crash her plane. Jace on special assignment will do anything to save her but now she knows... About his bear. And his bear wants his mate. The story was actually pretty good. There's a lot of action and was really sexy. Not a bad start for this series.

Jace and Julie have been on each other's radar for some time, but never made the connection. With suspense and shifter elements, these two finally come together in explosive chemistry while trying to survive.
Overall, an enjoyable shifter romance read with wonderful characters surviving the odds and on their way to a great and promising HEA.

I loved Julie. She was Inuit and was used to handling herself in rough conditions. She was tough, smart and not easily rattled. Her inner strength throughout the ordeal was admirable. Ah, Jace. He was absolutely wonderful with a good heart, a sense of honor and protective as heck. The two have quite the chemistry so the story has lots of steam.
The two of them are forbidden to be together by his unit and his family so getting a HEA doesn’t just mean surviving but he’ll do whatever he has to for them to be together.

I really enjoyed this story, this author really knows how to keep a reader interested.
Whether it's from the strong heroines she portrays like in this story or the stronger shifters that they meet up with it, she finds plenty of ways to keep you reading.
Julie is such a strong independent person and she has finally found her perfect strong shifter in this bear.
These two really work well together.
Looking forward to another one in this series, hopefully.

Pretty good story for as far as it goes, it's a darn cliffhanger with no real ending.
Victoria needs a man, a real man instead of a boardroom wishy washy wimp. So she decided to go to a matchmaker and ask for a real man, with muscles, not afraid to shoot a gun, and respectfull. Unlike the snobs and creeps she had been dating and is so tired of. Story does not end, you get left hanging after she meets a nice guy who fits her list. If it had actually finished the story of it may have gotten five stars, instead of only three.

I loved 💘 it
I liked this story better than I thought I would,in fact I think I loved ❤ it. I don't usually love/like paranormal romance. This one was pretty great. It has military or Special Forces which I love.
The characters were really interesting. Jace was an Alpha man, protective and as the title says a Bear Shifter. Julie was a pilot. A strong woman. These two have amazing chemistry together. Wow, HOT🔥 Steamy, sex scenes.
The plot and storyline were great too!

light adventure with heat
This is a light adventure involving a special ops shifter, a Russian spy ring, and a feisty female pilot in Alaska. The pilot, inadvertently discovers the Russians at a remote post office that she delivers mail to. Before she can flee, they give chase and of course, our special ops guy (whose mission was to find the Russians) comes to the rescue. Mutual attraction and close proximity while on the run leads to high heat. This is a very enjoyable quick read.

It's par for the course
She's in love with his looks. They don't talk. They fall in love while in danger. And they have little in common. And to top it off, they don't know how to fight.
She's a social creature with a giant family and many friends. He's a loner. They both love Alaska so, I guess that's something to build on. And that's about all I know because they had as much depth as a puddle.
The spy stuff drives the story and gives it a reason for existing but, it lacks believability. What were they even doing in the first place.

I liked that Julie and Jace were both aware of each other but don't really interact until Julie's plane crash. I thought they were both so good together because they are both strong people. I liked that Julie had things happening to her but she doesn't loose it. I liked Jace and Julie together and am glad they got their happy ending.

This is an adventurous book, they had to fight hard to stay alive.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
Julie is a pilot for the post offices in Alaska, she isn't afraid of a little storm. Russian spies she is afraid of, good thing Jace is there to help her.
Jace is a bear shifter in a special branch of the military, he can't have a human mate. His bear doesn't care what the rules are.
I enjoyed this book.

Special forces?
I liked Julie. The plot itself is fine: girl meets boy, boy rescues girl. There are relationship complications and outside forces trying to kill them.
The problem is that so little makes sense. I found myself
asking the book aloud, "What?" "Why?" and "No!" Jace does not come off as a competent military hero. The spies must have supernatural support. There is a lot of sex in tense situations too.

Russian spies, traipsing through Alaska, tampering with the U.S. mail, shooting at the air pilots, and battling bear shifter, anti-terrorist forces, were defeated after they attacked Jace's mate. Yep 5/6 were killed, but I was left wondering if Russia did not have a strong shifter community? Interesting read, with a HEA and future social biases to resolve.

This was an entertaining read that showcased two people that secretly crushed on each other from afar. Of course, things don't go smoothly when they get up and close to each other. There's a fair bit of drama, chemistry....and gun runners ;) All together, it's an entertaining read with everything to keep you hooked, beginning to end.

Action and Romance
Nice story with good character development for Jace and Julie. The book has a modest cliffhanger ending, but the main story gets good closure.
There were a couple gaps in the story that didn’t make sense (like being tracked in a blizzard). Putting those aside, the story worked.
This was a nice romantic story with a few intense action scenes.
