In Oregon, Katie and Zach Nelson try to discern and evade the dangers in the mysterious rain forest. Can they survive there with their four-year-old son? For how long?
I have enjoyed reading this book in this series of books by this author. They follow the evolution of 3 different groups in their struggles to survive the destruction of the United States. Two of the groups are related by bloodlines, and the third group are the politicians trying to put back together the US after the destruction of California, the bombing of New York, the nuclear destruction of the White House and the EMP that has left most of the US powerless. Each group confronts their own challenges, and the switch back and forth between these three groups kept the pace fast and interesting. I think this was one of the better books in the series and it dealt directly with the spiritual evolution of 2 of the main characters to a life with Jesus Christ.
The book is an easy read, somewhat predictable, but very fast paced, and made me want to know more of the characters. I will continue reading on into the next book in the series.
Seems to be what America is going through, as for left- wing insanity and chaos throughput our country. One issue with the storyline regarding the interim acting president and her compromised situation (avoiding spoiler!), doesn't seem plausible. But it does keep the conflict and intensity of the crises at the forefront and keeps the anxiety level high!! The author's attention to detail is excellent. She takes the time needed to make you feel that you're part of the story. For everyone who is interested in salvation, the Word of God, end times, I'm positive that you will truly enjoy each book. I will be sad to see this series end!! (Reviewed by Sue C. Weaver)
I stole this review but it fit so well that I couldn't have said it better myself "What a compelling, fast-paced, story of intrigue! With miracles and twists to keep the reader engaged. This author is a genius in her storytelling and suburb in weaving a tale that makes you want to read faster to find out what will happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries and Christian reading. This book will not disappoint.
This whole series captivated me, it was slow in parts especially the driving in the first book but the overall story was so interesting I had to know what happened. I don't think I have ever read a book with a storyline like this one and that made it special on its own.
Some of the characters are "lame' especially the brother but you needed all the characters to bring the whole story together.
I was riveted from the 1st paragraph of book 1 California to the last word in Alaska! This series has been a balm to my soul and excitement for my senses. Jamie Grey is an amazing author, clearly a woman of God and her storytelling ability is truly a gift. The way she shows the humanity , the evil the strength and the frailty of all the main characters is astonishing. I could see myself in each character at different times throughout the stories. I could see myself standing strong in my faith, I could see myself stumbling and doubting, I could see myself at the end of my rope not knowing what to do. I am recommending this book to many Of my Christian friends and fellow book nerds. Thank you once again to the author this series has been a blessing to my life .
There are more Jews in America than in Israel. Big Foot ?!?! Really ?!?! Where are the Bunkers ? Cremation is way less expensive than burial. Abraham purchased a burial cave. First apocalypse author to mention gold in Ft Knox. Do Liberal Presidents not salute troops when boarding & unboarding Air Force One ?!? How much sodium is in a box of Mac & cheese? Take your US truck tag off moron. Are there no Christians in military or DC ? 4 is a tad young for kindergarten. Evan's church dropped the Salvation ball. Alana needs a VP pick.
Get ready to continue the exciting and rest taking ride of the Daughter of Babylon series
D.C is falling , the president is recovering not only from her own assination attempt but is trying to.keep.the Domino's from falling as the smoke from the California fires, New York attack and EMP have left smoke and terror on the rise . Has Zach finally found a moment to rest ? What would his brother and Mother now.do stuck in Canada. Just when you thunk it can't get any more intense ,chapter two starts . Jamie does a master full.job as the Daughter of.Babylon series continues don't miss this one its a must read
The continuing storyline of the lives of several different people all trying to survive the collapse of the US is riveting! The one problem I had with this book is the lack of remorse in Zach and Katie who were put in a situation where, to defend their own lives, they had to take the lives of those attacking them. As believers, I wished they were affected more by the deaths. There was no sense of guilt or prayers to the Father to confess their actions. I understand they had no choice, but for 2 people who did not carry weapons previous to this, they became very adept at shooting and almost callous to the resulting deaths.
Jamie Lee Grey tells a spellbinding story. Book 5 is as great as 1.
How can America be taken down? By an apocalyptic end by terrorist maybe? Nuclear weapons used in the White House and not really knowing who did it! Assassination attempts on the President where will it end. Fires, and other disasters to start with and a family being wrongly accused of starting the fires lead to them trying to get away. The rest of his family are trying to survive and where will they all end up? Your guess is as good as mine.
This KU library selection is the continuation of the postapocalyptic story of the destruction of the USA by it's enemies. It is told from three viewpoints, which rotate through the chapters. Next up is Canada, a refuge for the weary new, and more seasoned, Christians who are in the thick of the battle for survival.
The only disappointing part was the mention of a political party. As always, the story is fast moving with sudden unexpected twists and turns. A couple new Christians facing life with a new perspective is exciting.
The Lord can work in peoples lives even in the darkest times. What joy I felt as Evan and then Pres. Mills gave their hearts to Jesus! Even though we will have to walk in the Valley of the shadow of death He is with us and His Spirit can lead us and guide us!
I recommend this series. I have never read a series of this kind, that was so educational in the Bible and could put the verses into our time. I am learning so much and as a Christian I always want more knowledge and understanding.
I’m invested in the characters, so I continue to read the series, BUT the entire Sasquatch plot line introduced in the last book is so incredibly over the top and not necessary. I truly hope this is the last I will read of this plot line.
I know it's a fictional story but I really got excited when they accepted their salvation. They weren't the most intense parts of this book but they were some of the best.
You will thoroughly enjoy this next book as much as all of the previous ones.
There are some good words from scripture that inspired my hope. And , some main characters are finding out what's important, or whom to focus on in life.
I enjoyed this addition to the series and felt it move along smooth. I am getting to really enjoy the different characters and am excited to hear on into nett
One cliffhanger after another, this book is filled with them! Each one just keeps pushing you forward to see how they're resolved, if they're resolved. I can't stop reading them.
