Hot Shot

I was one of the toughest players on ice -- until she melted my heart. Like most hockey players I went through the one-and-done puck bunny phase. I knew what my smile did to women and I had no problem using it against them. But Elyse is different. Something in her past pushes everyone away, yet she feels safe when she’s with me. She’s gorgeous and I can’t forget her curves or how she comes alive with my touch. I’m learning that I can’t deal with problems in real life the way I handle them on the ice. I’m determined to win her. It’s hard, but with Elyse, I’m playing for keeps. ***Sizzling hot alpha full-length romance with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after***

I loved Ryder & Elyse's story! Ryder met Elyse when they were both out with friends. Elyse is a shy up and coming artist. Ryder is a hot shot hockey player.

Story was well written and had everything a good book should have. Suspense, mystery, great second characters and of course love, lots of hot love.

When is the last time that you read a book where there is a man that the leading lady has no issue with? The only thing Ryder brings out is seriously genuine feelings in Elyse and it is beautiful to read.

I am one of those reviewers that try extremely hard never to give away any part of the plot, so that I do not ruin it for other readers. That being said, here it goes...

Elyse, an aspiring and talented artist, has had an unbelievably hard journey to get to where she is today. Overcoming a horrifying past is not easy and to this day, she still suffers from the emotional trauma. With her best friends encouragement, this sheltered, albeit strong, woman agrees to a small art showing, where she inadvertently meets her future in the enigmatic Ryder. Ryder is a famous hockey player & a man's man, as well as a Family man and from the moment he lays his eyes on Elyse, he is enraptured. Could this skittish woman be his future? Or is danger not done with her yet? There is so much to love about this release and I encourage all fans of amazing romance to pick up a copy & get to reading ASAP.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced readers copy of Hot Shot in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend reading this release.

Anything published by Ms. Pratt is sure to please.

Lulu Pratt lights the lamp with Hot Shot. In this story, hockey defenseman, Ryder Bellamy, is smitten the moment he meets Elyse Ashby. He immediately feels protective of her. Elyse is reserved; he realizes he needs to handle her different than the way he would normally treat people. This story is suitable for adult readers. It takes place in Denver, Colorado.

Hot Shot is a heartwarming and enjoyable read. I like Elyse. She is an introverted artist, that works part-time at a second-hand bookstore. She experienced a tragedy as a child that causes her some issues. Ryder is a swoon worthy hero. He is protective and thoughtful. The two have amazing chemistry and are perfect for each other. I like how they both grow as individuals and a couple.

I enjoyed the plot. It was skillfully written and believable. I like Elyse’s best friend Tori and Ryder’s teammate Justin. I would love to hear their story. This is the first book that I have read by Lulu Pratt. I enjoyed her writing style. I plan on reading additional books by her in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

"I Wanted Her To See Her Worth The Way That I Did."

Lulu Pratt creates a swoon-worthy book boyfriend in Ryder, with "Hot Shot." Ryder is a pretty typical young man, who happens to be a star athlete. He gets plenty of action on and off the ice. Elyse is different than anyone Ryder has ever met. Shy, reserved, and a little haunted. As attracted to Ryder, as Elyse is, there are so many things about him that trigger her severe PTSD. Ryder and Elyse are characters that endear, and you'll quickly become immersed in their story. Great supporting characters, pave the way for their own stories. I love that Elyse works in a used book store, (be still my heart,) and that we see a bit of an opposites attract, with this artist and hockey player. You can expect drama, angst, high emotions, amusing situations, a few twists and surprises, along with sweltering scenes of steam and romance. An enthralling read. I received this book as an ARC from Bad Boy Update, and I volunteered this review.

Great Hockey Romance

Elyse has PTSD stemming from a traumatic childhood tragedy. Ryder, a hot shot hockey player, spots her at a bar with her friend & he wants to get to know her better. He soon learns she's shy, very fragile, skittish & escapes to her safe-haven when in a panic. Ryder protects her by staying by her side, listens to her feelings, encourages her out of her shell; in essence, to put more trust into him. He shows patience & kindness towards her. Ryder's a sensitive guy. Who could resist his charm? Elyse gives him a chance & starts the healing process.

This story is well-written when trying to enter the world of PTSD & the emotional turmoil a person goes through 24/7. A cure doesn't happen overnight & this novel had taken the time to show how necessary it is for another person (whether a professional or friend) to be patient with them & not push their buttons into panic-mode.

I volunteered to read this ARC & leave an honest review.

Hot Shot is Another Top Tier Romance.
Author Lulu Pratt continues to write outstanding books and Hot Shot is a perfect example. This storyline is unique in that the main characters, Artist and part time Bookstore employee, Elyse and Pro Hockey Player, Ryder never go thru the falling in love, falling out of love, then reconcile scenario. It’s all about...well I’m not giving that away :)
The bottom line is that this is a well-written book that held my interest all the way until the end which had a satisfying conclusion. All the characters contributed solidly to the storyline. And, as an avid reader who loves used bookstores, I was happy to see such an establishment play a role, plus one of my favorite authors mentioned. So I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.

I really enjoyed this book. It was tender and sweet as well as sexy and passionate. From the beginning when Ryder and Elyse meet, he knows she is different than anyone he has ever met. Elyse is sweet and shy. Her past still haunts her and she tries to stay far away from perceived aggression and violence. Ryder wants to be the one to protect her and wants to get to know. He is patient and agrees to take things slow with her. This is a very well written story and I was captured from the start. I love how they go closer and in doing so it helps Elyse deal with her fears and confidence. Great story with a wonderful HEA.

OMG!!! Lulu Pratt you have done it again, Thank you so much - I absolutely loved this book both Ryder (Hot Shot Hockey Player) and Elyse (a struggling Artist) had there own story to tell. I won’t give any spoilers away, so you have to read it now. I definitely loved the mention in the bookstore about a certain author we all love.
I also loved how the book ended with a follow up in the “Ten years later” Epilogue, very nicely tying the story up.
Thank you so very much Lulu for this book! I loved it 💗 😊P.H. xo

Ryder just might be my next book boyfriend. He's tender, sweet and protective. He and Elyse are so perfect together. She's shy and has a troubled past, Ryder is there to comfort and protect her. The story was well written with interesting and relatable characters. The story line has a lot of emotion and chemistry that will grab your heart and take it for a spin. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.

This well-written storyline has chemistry, emotions, secrets, a dark past, PTSD triggers and a Hero who is willing to work for a relationship even though his heroine is keeping important information to herself. I liked this entertaining book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

A well written book that you just can’t put down. I loved the characters within the book. Who doesn’t love a sexy hockey player and a strong woman who has been through hell. The two just clicked and the storyline was so very enjoyable.

I received this ARC from Bad Boy Update. This isn't your typical bad boy hockey romance. Ryder and Elyse take you on a journey of romance, trust, pain, guilt and passion. I just love this!

Artist meets hockey player. Love ensues with some bumps along the way. I really liked both heroine and hero. She was quiet and artistic; he was very caring while still being charismatic.

No rising action, they just meet, nothing special to it. Romance is plain and predictable.

I enjoy books by Lulu Pratt, but this one didn't quite live up to what I have come to expect. The premise of a hockey star meets quiet, artsy girl is a good one for me since sports romances are some of my favorites. Hot Shot has a sound plot with likable characters, but they didn't quite ring true. The language is a little too simplistic, making college students sound like middle school kids. It's a cute book and you just might love it. Give it a try!
