A good read, except for the main character's language.
The story was very good and exciting. It was a real pages turner. But Mr. Hicks seems to really dislike people from Tennessee, or he would not have had Capt. Foster use such awful grammar and language. Even uneducated people do not speak the way she did.
But other than that I would recommend it and I plan to read the continuing stories.

Ok read, though annoying in places
Decent flow and didn't have the overt grammar errors that are all too common these days. But some of the word choices drove me a bit crazy. Such as "dropping out of sub-light.." which would really be deceleration. And " donning" armor when "wearing" would be the correct term. It did provide some interesting(amusing) mental pictures for me. It also became apparent that I didn't need to worry about trying to figure out how a group would get out of a jam as new capabilities would conveniently be discovered or acquired. But definitely worth the 99 cent price for the 4 book set.

This series has it all. Action, adventure, politics, betrayal, aliens, and ancient aliens bend on murdering all. It is the story of Rebecca and her crew that go out to explore space and find something terrible. It just sucks you in and keeps you reading to see what will happen next and what horrors are around the corner. It does a good job of introducing all the main characters in the first book and sets up the story wonderfully. Makes you really learn how they all are. I liked the action and surprises. A fun entertaining read that had it all.

Was this written by a middle schooler? The dialog was not that of a 30 some year old woman being made captain of a starship, it was the dialog of a teenager.
The author loves to move from first person last tense to first person present tense then into the third person of either tense. This usually happened so within the same sentence.
This amateur at best, pending to tenants at worst. Avoid this series.

Dragons and aliens, oh my! Eddie R. Hicks is definitely a pro when it comes to highly adventurous epic scifi. That’s certainly demonstrated in his totally epic Edge of the Splintered Galaxy series. What a wild ride Captain Rebecca Foster goes on, well written, perfectly plotted and with a great cast of characters. This is a fantastic set of stories that I highly recommend.

What a great journey!! Loved the story and am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Just one note however. It could use one more look through by an editor. But while mistakes might have ordinarily caused me to abandon these books, the story itself was just too good to let that stop me.

Wish I had never started.
This book makes no sense, jumps around too much, no body should have given the captain a ship, the grammar is terrible, badly needed an editor or proofreader.
I could not get past the half way point of the last book it was driving me nuts.

Space opera and mythology with aliens, oh my!!!
Plenty of action and random archaeology with incredible adventure. The mysterious disappearance is a looming cliff-hanger. Story line dragged a bit in the 3rd book. Things change when gods are involved

The story lines are slightly juvenile, somewhat boring and lacking in substance often containing poor grammar. Their are too many unpronounceable characters names . Sorry but that's how I saw it. I gave up before the end of book one

Needs More Work
Eddie, you need a better proofreader. There are way too many spelling errors, bad word choices, strange syntaxes, and more. All those characters and multiple names confuse the reader. Also, Foster's accent isn't even close to authentic!"

The risk when writing an "epic" story is that it becomes too complicated too quickly, and there are large data dumps. I like some of the threads in the story, but it never hooked me.
DNF at 10% of the anthology, so maybe halfway through the first book.

Dreadful, poorly drawn characters, ludicrous storyline, badly written. Don't waste your time on this rubbish. Couldn't finish it.
