At first when I saw the title of this book I cringed , but it kept showing up in my feed and it was a short read so I decided to give it a try. To bad I was sadly disappointed. The concept was solid enough, but there were so many grammatical errors and things that didn't make since that I couldn't get past it so I had to stop reading this book. This book needs a rewrite and a title change. The heroin in this story is a strong confident woman, but this story does not do her justice.
The plot was decent. I'm glad the leading lady got her happy ending. The flow of the book was a bit rough to follow. In my opinion, two stories in one book is great if it's written correctly.
I normally don’t review books that I read for pleasure, however for this one I felt I REALLY needed to give a review and pray that it is taken in the spirit of love and help the writer do better. When I read the first few paragraphs I was immediately intrigued for several reasons. I love reading BWWM genre books, but I’ve always been slightly disappointed because they usually leave out an important real life factor that I think is needed and should be said aloud in them - state that the female is a Black woman and the male is a White man and have them deal with that in real life scenarios. The reality is that most interracial couples either have to deal with it between themselves and most certainly SOMEONE in their lives (on both sides) will have an issue with them being together. Have them fight for their love and happiness by first acknowledging that love is love regardless of each other’s race or ethnicity. So when I read the first bits of this book I was excited. Then I was really excited because I remembered that this was also a story of a plus-sized Black woman. Whoa, this is unique!
I was, however, quickly let down because of the writing. There was very little character development and what was there wasn’t very succinct. The storylines between the two main men seemed to abruptly shift, so much so that it was confusing as to whom the narrations and dialogues belonged to. The use of pronouns kept switching, changing the voice of the dialogue, and the overall dialogue was pretty painful! It felt as though someone whose first language is NOT English wrote the book. For goodness sake, use some contractions! The language was so stiff and unnatural that it annoying, borderline aggravating. Yet I persevered hoping it would get better. Alas, I was disappointed but I still have hope for this writer. Maybe not for the books that are already out but prayerfully for any new books in the future. Writer, PLEASE get yourself a good editor. The editor on this book should be ashamed, that is if you had an editor go through this book. Also, get yourself some proofreaders as you go along in the writing process. I think with those two resources backing you up you’ll do fine.
When you choose a book because you have Kindle unlimited, you often get it because it's free. There is no such thing as free because in a case such as mine with this book, it costs you time. The first sentence in the book was also the first paragraph and it was grammatically incorrect. That didn't with me bode well but I wanted to give it a chance as some English-speaking cultures have different ways of saying things. The rest of the book didn't fair much better. When the woman asks the man where he's from, telling him he's not from the U.S., his response to her was that he was Caucasian and both of his parents were Caucasian I scratched my head. The woman wasn't blind so was he saying his family came from the Caucus region of the former Soviet Union? I read the book to the end. The manuscript wasn't proofed. The errors were numerous. It was as if a middle-aged person wanted to sound young but I am not certain how many countries use the term "going steady" any more. If you are going to write about something you don't know, do research. Perhaps in other countries you can look for modelling got like you do a job as a store clerk but I'm pretty certain to save people (the ones running the audition) time, they list exactly what they want in the casting call. Plus-sized models who have been at it for ten plus years know what to look for when reading the casting calls. A Plus-sized model who is as beautiful as Lacy is described in this book would have a rep. It shouldn't have bothered me but since the woman in the story has weight issues centered on how her family treats her, the story should be a lot smoother than this read. The story was cliched. The situations as common as white rice. There are 12 books in this series, released in 2020. Book ten was not an improvement on this one, which is book one. If you aren't going to save yourself money then save yourself some time and skip this author completely.
Differences are what makes us all unique. Differences is what makes us attracted to one another. Differences is also what makes us not like one another. The one thing that can be said is that differences is something that everybody has. What we need to figure out is how to live with our differences. Lacy Devaul is a rare gem. Lacy works very hard and is good at the job she does, but that just isn't doing it for her anymore. She is a BBW who has been told all her life by her family that she would never amount to anything due to her being plus sized. Lacy took those words and used them to build her self esteem up and to move forward with her dream of being a model. When Lacy ran into obstacles she decided instead of running from them she was going to run right through them! The one thing Lacy will NOT do anymore is let anybody tell her what she can't do because of her size. Lacy is willing to do the work and is not looking for any handouts. What Lacy did not see coming is being involved in a situation beyond her control. How she handles this situation will determine her future.
Tony Kent is a millionaire by default due to taking over the family business. What he is is a self made billionaire due to his vision for greatness. He took over the family business and developed his real estate and music productions companies. He is all business with no time for fun or love. What happens when Tony finds himself being distracted from business? Will he allow himself to be human or will he just continue to keep being all business?
The Plus Sized Model and The Billionaire is a good read. It gives you joy, sadness and every other emotion that you would like to experience. The flow of the book is good but there are typos that sometimes make you reread a sentence in order to know what the author is talking about. This book appears to not have been edited the best but it is still a good read. The author Samantha Daily has several books in this plus size genre, I just hope they were edited better. I would recommend this book .
I liked the plot and the 2 stories in one book. I like how Malcolm and Stephaine’s story is in between Lacy and Tony’s story and that it’s only from Malcolm perspective because it makes the story more interesting to me. Now here’s the issue I don’t like Lacy, she is very quick to make judgements about Tony based off of what other people say without proof. She is supposed to be this strong independent woman but every time Tony doesn’t do something she thinks he should have done or she has a problem, she never tells him what’s wrong. She acts like a child and he has to be the one to figure out what’s wrong. Lacy and Tony have a problem with COMMUNICATION, half the book could have been eliminated if they had just talked to each other about what they were feeling or what is going with them. The ends was fine maybe a little more of Stephaine and Malcom.
The storyline was good. Model had a legitimate reason for learning to love herself, especially poignant because of the lack of it before she meets her man. Great way for her to have her dreams. However it really needed editing. So many spelling errors are distracting. Two romances in 1 story. Only problem with second romance, no description of the female at all besides her job, supportive role, etc.
Interesting story. Liked main character, a plus sized black woman who loved herself in spite of her upbringing by unloving family. Liked how she didn’t jump into bed with billionaire. I the story progressed well and all her wants were realized. Story left question unanswered. What was beef with billionaire and man who tried to steal main character. Why did her family disliked and not support her? Good story. Needs better editing, typos were sometimes confusing
I gave this book 5-star's, because it told a fabulous story. Love is color-blind, and weight-blind. Tony and Lacy make a terrific super couple. I'm glad the author showed the hassles of an interracial couple, let alone the prejudice against a plus-size person. Splendid, well done and well-written.
The was a wild romance because as usual men do not know what they want. They think that they have to be Alpha men at all times. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys HEA.
Despite some editing needs to this story the plot flowed. Lacy and billionaire Tony find love despite the interference of outside enemies and the presence of paparazzi.
Typos, and mixed up storylines took away from this story. I did enjoy the overall idea of the book as well as the HEA. It left a lot of questions unanswered and skipped about a lot.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The 2nd kiss was on fire and the first love scene was well written and so real life. I was glad to be on the journey with Lacy and Tony.
As a big beautiful black woman, I was so pleased to read this book. Nice to see an author that realizes big girls need love too and that fit men find us attractive. Thank you
Lacy and Tony I loved their relationship and he stood by her no matter what and had so much confidence about her she didn't let nothing stop her from persuing her dreams
The way she threw out that both his parents were Caucasian made me wonder if he was of another ethnic background. The writing was off at times and the spelling needed help. Seems like this was a story that was taken from another book.
The two story lines were interesting but could have been two short reads. It would have been nice to know why Mendez was so blind. As for the two main characters I would have loved to see more interaction between Lacy and her family. It was a good quick read.
Storyline was okay but the editing was horrible. Names were changed/incorrect, some of the writing was confusing, and there was a secondary storyline that was not explained so it didn't make a lot of sense.
I love how this main character was very goal oriented and beautiful personality. There is someone out there for everyone. Sometimes it takes times to find the one. Anticipation is build up like an aphrodisiac. The sex scenes were a bit short but very hot.
I enjoyed this story because it had a delightful story line with a character with great self esteem and not a victimization story. I would love to read more "strong character" stories of women and men who are just carring and kind.
Lacy has dreams and the gumption to go for them. The outside influences try to change those dreams, but she goes for them anyway and everyway. Good storyline.
I absolutely loved it. This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I love how neither of them really overreacted in situations.
