I’m a ruthless killer. A bloodthirsty beast. I always take what I want, What I’m owed, And what has been stolen from me. With a gorgeous face and a porn star body, Lindy thinks she owns Sin City. But my new obsession made a deadly choice when she walked into my casino. She trusted the wrong people, put greed before common sense, and lost everything. Now, there’s a debt to be paid. To me. But I don’t care about money. I want her as my payment. And it’s time to collect.
Kristen Luciani is a USA Today bestselling romance author, momtrepreneur, and a beauty product junkie with a penchant for stilettos, Silicon Valley, plunging necklines and grapefruit martinis. As a deep-rooted romantic who prefers juicy drama to fill the lives of anyone other than her, she tried her hand at creating a world of enchantment, sensuality, and intrigue, finally uncovering her true passion. No pun intended…
Too long, nothing happens - I think literally 3 days are described in this book, 2 of them really boring. The blurb is misleading AF. The books ends with a cliffhanger and the next one is about a different couple when we have no bloody idea where this one is going. So yeah, not for me.
Was going good, but the rational of Kaz is just off the wall and Lindy is just not thinking normal. Kaz I like the girl so let me scare the crap out of her and her friends and then blackmail her to do what I want, because that will make her want me?!? Yeah that makes sense! Then Lindy who has post traumatic stress gets triggered again due to Kaz, but the tingly feeling makes her realize she loves him?? Then he sends her to a place where she gets groped and almost violated because he thought it would make her horny?! Just love the thinking?
Then the ending solved nothing and made the whole book pretty much plotless and a waste of time.
Loved Kaz & Lindy's story. Great characters. I was hooked after the first few pages. Wow. Such an intense & intriguing book. Couldn't get enough. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
After 68% I'd say it started getting interesting but before that it was slow. It started slow and slowed even more.
Have you ever checked the time when one person in a book says something to someone else and then they think on what to say for the next 15 pages and it seems they answered quickly. In other words too much thinking and less about doing. Almost all the main action comes at the end.... makes it where I'm going to read the next book and hopefully it will stay action packed.
The end saved the book so here's hoping the next is better.....
I started out with an open mind. I usually like Russian mafia, but this one, I just didn’t like either of the main characters. I still gave it 3 stars because I think it’s a “me” thing and there’s probably nothing wrong with this book for non-picky people.
Merciless is the first book in the Russian-Italian mafia series by Kristen Luciani. This mafia romance offers the right amount of drama, twists, off-the-charts chemistry, revenge, greed, suspense, mystery and steam. My only complaint is the ending of this book. The blurb says there is a guarantee HEA. This book does not end on a HEA or even a HFN. There's not even a cliffhanger. What about the hero and heroine? Do they get together? Does the story continue in the next book?
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Lindy and Kaz have off the chart chemistry. Their personalities had me smirking or laughing quite a bit as well. This has a fun twist to it as Lindy is in the predicament she is in bc she ran from her own Mafia family back in Jersey.
Most of the story is answered through the plot as it unfolds, but some of it isn’t as the ending provides one heck of a switch in focus and cliffhanger. The family and friend dynamics are entertaining and I plan on reading more of this series.
Amazing start to a new series. Kaz is a mafia assassin exacting some revenge. Lindy is having fun, counting cards and having money. When Lindy robs the wrong casino, Kaz is called in and he plans on making Lindy his. Fast-paced dark read with loads of drama and suspense. The chemistry is off the charts hot and the characters have a lot of depth. I was hooked from beginning to end on this dark mafia read. I loved it!
Lindy and Kaz are hot as hades separately but together watch out! Lindy being Rocco’s little sister makes this a spin-off of The Mob Lust Series. The best part for me is that Kat is back tho! Ugh LOVE!!!
I don't usually read mafia romances because I really don't like rooting for bad people. I recently read a series about different mafia bosses and at least two out of three of them were mostly good people. One of them was a government spy. While I wouldn't expect every mafia story, or even most of them, to have these types of men, I did hope to read a book where some of the worst parts of the business the mafia conducts was at least glossed over. Not so with this book. They spend a decent amount of time discussing using escorts as drug dealers. They only use them for a short amount of time and then move on to a new set and a new agency. They kill any escorts who try to stay in business with them or with the owners who fuss when the time is up. Or anyone of them that asks questions. However, I did not drop any stars for the mafia guys actually being bad guys even though the story could have been as real if they focused on business outside of drugs or human trafficking. Those are the two hardest to overlook IMO. I'm sure the latter doesn't show up in the series.
The biggest reason I gave this 3 stars is way too much of the gook is before she actually gets in trouble. Over half the book is used to get to the point described in the blurb. Very little time was spent on them trying to build a relationship. And what he asks her to do in return for forgiving her misdeeds is really stupid and he probably had a million people he could have had do it.
Another thing I hated about this book is how confident he comes across when alone but his brother and sister treat him like he is the family screw up. It was hard to reconcile the two images the author painted of him. That I did count against the author. That his family obviously didn't support him while saying they did was something else I hated but that is just the story and not about her skill.
Another frustration was the book opens on a prologue 6 months in the past. Kazimir is about to take down a portion of a different mafia and the whole thing goes sideways. The author never circles around to explain exactly what happened or how he survived.
Lindy wasn't a great FMC. While she was extremely loyal to her friends, some other aspects made her a not so hot friend. She was bossy and controlling. She bullied them into doing what she wanted.
They went from enemies, from her pov, to lovers on a dime. He didn't do anything to win her over other than being hot. I don't mind insta love but it still needs to make sense and be based on something aside from lust.
I won't be reading more by this author because I am definitely not into this kind of mafia book but that is not a reflection of her. If the book were not about mobs, I would probably try another book to see if her stories tend to be all build up and very little relationship time. She certainly isn't a bad author. If you read mob books to see the mob operate, you might really enjoy this book. If you are looking for romance, you'll be disappointed.
Merciless by Kristen Luciani is book one in Luciani's new dark Russian mafia series, Severinov Bratva. This book is a Dark Enemies to Lovers Russian Bratva Romance. It is a standalone Dark, Captive, Hate To Lovers Mafia Romance, complete with HEA and no cheating. This book revolves around Lindy and Azimir. Azimir, the professional killer and sensitive man is planning on making up for a past mistake that took his mother's life as his thirst for revenge blinds him. As punishment, he is banished to LAs Vegas given the title of head of security at his family's casino. Whilst, Lindy ran away from her family after finding out that her whole lie had been a lie, a lie by omission and ended up almost costing her, her own life. Now as she is desperate for cash, she masterminds a card counting scheme with the help of her friends which brings them to Kazimir's casino where the two meet and their chemistry sparks.
I absolutely love this author and this book didn't disappoint. The book length is good and the characters and storylines were developed amazingly. The tension and chemistry between the characters was created so perfectly that I could practically feel and smell it coming off of the pages. I could not put this book down until I finished it and now cannot wait to get my hands on the next instalment in the series.

Great start to a new series. This is the story of Kaz and Lindy. Kaz is part of the Russian mob who also happens to be head of security at the casino his family owns. He is dark, dangerous, hot-headed and out for revenge. Lindy is a college student who just recently learned she was also part of a mafia family. It had been kept from her all her life and she felt like she was not in control of her life. She left to be on her own and try to gain some of her control back. Lindy is strong, smart and feisty. When Lindy and Kaz meet there is an instant attraction. The banter between Kaz and Lindy is pretty funny and can get a little steamy!
What happens when you have two people who are control freaks and want everything their way? You get drama, adventure, suspense, betrayal, chemistry and entertainment. A few characters were also brought into this story, Kaz’s siblings – Leo and Tali. I cannot wait to read the next story about Leo to see what kind of trouble he can get into. ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
So much to love about this book :
Amazing characters in Kazimir ( aka Kaz) and Lindy - as well as secondary characters Mafia genre Fast paced storyline and plot Laugh out loud dialog Strong and fiercely determined heroine Sizzling chemistry Can be read as a standalone HEA
I think it’s safe to say I loved EVERYTHING about this book and I am becoming a huge fan of this author who never fails to deliver on a great storyline , characters and with lots of laughter thrown in !! I might even say that Kaz and Lindy are two of most favorite characters.
Great read - highly recommend this book , series and author !

I hate leaving a less then stellar review for this author - HATE IT - but I just don’t get it. Merciless is the first book in the Severinov Bratva. I’ve read a lot of mafia, dark reads and before today I would have said I enjoy them because - usually - even though we are talking about mafia, Bratva etc they still have lines they don’t cross. I know, sounds naive and silly but the books I’ve read - the bad guys don’t kill innocents, or women and children - they live by a code - not a normal code but a code none the less. This book was filled with just serial psychotic, psychopaths and I found myself cringing and putting my kindle down. I am a huge fan of this author but I just feel let down and can only hope the rest of the series is better.

Merciless, book 1 in the Severinov Bratva series was a great beginning!
I was kinda curious about Lindy after reading about her in Crushing the Mob. She’s Rocco’s sister.
Merciless focuses on Kaz & Lindy’s story. After leaving NJ to get away from her family and trying to grasp everything happened to her, Lindy enrolled at Stanford. To help pay for her student loans her and her friends decide to start counting cards in casinos. While in Vegas for the weekend, and staying in Kaz’s hotel/casino they get busted and he offers her a deal she can’t refuse.
This is definitely a slow burn, and everything happens over a 48 hour period. There were still questions left unanswered, which get answered in the next book. Overall I enjoyed this book and loved this couple.
This one just wasn't for me. For starters there were grammatical errors on the first page of the story and then scattered throughout the book. Second the story was kind of all over the place, had huge holes and just didn't add up. For example if Kaz is the only person Lindy ever told about her family situation then how did her friends know to call her brother when they thought she was in trouble? It didn't make sense. Third the story just ended, not on a cliffhanger, but with a ton of loose ends. Those loose ends should've been tied up or the story should have ended on a cliffhanger leading into the next book. Neither happened leaving me zero interest to continue on with the series.
This is Book 1 of the Severinov Bratva Series and my first read by this author. Let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and the author's writing style. It is a suspenseful romance between Kaz and Lindy. Their strong connection, explosive chemistry, and the unconventional plot make for a intriguing read. I quite enjoyed reading the push and pull and ups and downs in their relationship. It is a dark love story with more than enough drama, danger, action, and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested.

To be honest this started off a little slow for me, but once it got going i found i really enjoyed it. It wasn't as action filled as some other mafia style romances, but the characters were pretty good, i liked how tough the heroine was and how persistent our hero Kaz was in trying to win her over. I still feel like we were left with some outstanding questions like who was behind the casino attack but this may be picked up in following books.

I really enjoyed this storyline but there were some areas not so much. IMO it didn’t really have a Russian Mafia feel to it. Maybe because the main character as well as other characters didn’t have a Russian accent or very little, I’m not sure. That said, I did enjoy the story overall. The narration was okay he has a good voice. This is book 1 with an HEA but the story continues.
I thoroughly enjoyed going on Kaz and Lindy's troubled journey with them. As with all of Kristen's books, there's the usual blend of darkness, misunderstanding, angst and heat. This one was a little shorter than some of her books, but that made it none the less entertaining.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Lindy thought she could get away with counting cards, running from her past she needed the money eu to pay for school but doesn't pla on getting caught. Kaz is an assassin after his last hit goes bad he's sent to lay low at the casino, where he catches sight of Lindy, but how to punish Her? This is nicely written, fast paced, woth twists ,suspense and desires.

Kaz is head of security at a casino in Vegas. Lindy has no clue that the man she ran into and is drawn to is the man she’s looking to steal from. They both have similar backgrounds and both have a passion to protect their family. This book is fast paced and full of action that will keep you rooted to your seat, flipping pages.

Kristen Luciani did a wonderful job with Merciless, the first book in her new Bratva mafia series. Conner Goff does an excellent job of narrating and bringing the characters with all of their emotions to life. Angst, love and intensity are all great descriptions of the journey through this novel. Being a Kristen Luciani fan this does not disappoint. Her talent shows through again.
The story of Kaz and Lindy was fast but sizzling and hot in all the right places. I enjoyed it quite well. The book was well written and the characters background is explained very well. You truly get a feel for who and what they are and you will be cheering for them throughout the entire book. I can't wait for the next one!
An enjoyable dark read that had me hooked from the beginning. I liked how the author crafted this story. The characters were fascinating as was the well written storyline. The tension between them was palpable. They had a believable chemistry and I loved how the story played out.

This book is drama filled, it has some shadier parts, but they make it real, since it is a mafia book. Lindy has a past she is trying to overcome. Kaz has lots of family drama, there are a lot of avenues working throughout this book. I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this. Kaz is totally hooked on Lindy and just has to make her see it too. Nothing goes smoothly for them but I love Kaz will not give up. I can't wait for the next book to see where their story goes next.
