An arranged marriage that started based on lie between two mafia families. Bonnie and Israel hit off together from the beginning. They lacked conversation and Bonnie shows less reception when Israel was mean to her. The story seems underdeveloped but I won't nag, as a new writer Callie Vincent managed to include the necessary tropes for a mafia romance and the writing is great.

3.5-4 ”Israel and Bonnie” stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

His eyes were mesmerizing. The glint behind them froze me to my core. I shouldn't have wanted him, but I did. He was dangerous. Criminal. Downright sinful. I needed to watch where I stepped. The last thing I needed was to get wrapped up in his storm.

Two things which made me notice this book. One that delicious COVER 🔥 and two, the blurb. After reading the whole book, I was shocked to find out this was the author’s first book. Her writing was flawless and kept me on my toes. There was so much action in this story that made my head spin. Few things I loved and few I didn’t. Overall it was a entertaining read. I’ll definitely be looking for more of this author’s work.

Also this is a TRILOGY so it does end on a cliffhanger. You might wanna keep that in mind before starting this book.

I knew damn good and well, by that point, I’d never be able to stop her. She had a mind of her own. A soul of her own. She was a woman who could never be contained, either. A wild, free-roaming spirit. And that was something that attracted me to her.

The story is about Bonnie Moretti and Israel Rossi. Both from two ruling and rival crime families. They are to marry each other to avoid a war and bring peace between both the families. At least that’s what happening on the surface. Bonnie’s parents died when she was a kid and has been brought up by her uncle who also took over the business. The twist is that she pretends to be Brianna (who is her uncle’s daughter), getting married to Israel and has orders to kill him on their wedding night.

His hand wrapped around my wrists, pinning them to the wall. His knee jammed between my legs, forcing them open. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. All I could do was stare as anger mounted behind his eyes.
“Never deny me what is rightfully mine,” he growled.
I nodded quickly as his nose dipped to the crook of my neck. They fluttered closed when he drew in my scent, making my toes curl. He was so warm. So commanding. Yet, somehow, so inviting. His danger added to his allure.

I was definitely confused why Brianna herself couldn’t do this but it’s explained later on. I couldn’t really connect to Bonnie tbh. She was strong, feisty, courageous and beautiful. The issue I had with her was how she claimed to be in love with Israel when they hadn’t ever had a meaningful conversation or spent much time together. It was to fast for my taste just ‘cause she found out that the rumours about him being ruthless was working and was actually a guy with honour.

”I’m not afraid of death, Israel. I’ve been surrounded by it my whole life.”
I grinned. “Sweetheart, if you think I’m going to kill you, you’re sorely mistaken.”
“Wh—what?”
“I’m not going to kill you. You’re much too beautiful for that. I will break you, though.”

Israel was smart, intelligent and easy on the eyes. He didn’t trust easily and went with his gut feeling. He was asshole at times to her but at the same time protected her too from harm. After finding out she was there to kill him, he still never handled her roughly. The reason behind that I think was she came clean about it and told him the truth.

”Yeah. That’s it. Milk my dick. You're mine, woman. And no one is ever going to make you feel this way again. Ever.”
She gasped. “Yours. I’m all yours. No matter what you want, I’ll always be yours.”
My face fell to the crook of her neck as my body collapsed against hers.

Their sexual chemistry was definitely hot but on an intimacy level they needed to connect more. I think the relationship will build with time since it’s a trilogy. Also whenever things got going for them, something always happened. Either they got attacked or more truths came out. The beginning I really liked but along the way it became a little predictable. I’ll definitely love to see where it goes.

The reason I gave it these many stars was because giving this was the author’s first book, the plot was really interesting, writing was hot with also lots of action and angst. You’ll not get bored. The cliffy also hasn’t left me that much excited for the next part. I’m going to get to it in a while.

It’s sounds like something you’re interested in, then I recommend it. Good choice for beginners in mafia romance. 💕

I would actually give this book 3.5⭐️. It was a free kindle book so I thought I would give it a try. I love a good dark mafia forced marriage story and that’s this with a twist.

Bonnie is passing as her cousin to marry Israel. It’s a marriage to unite two mafia families. However, Bonnie is supposed to kill Israel on their wedding night. But Israel never consummates the marriage and doesn’t give Bonnie the chance to kill him. Three weeks and counting and her family is starting to get impatient. So her family starts to attack both Bonnie and her husband.

This is a three book series. The first one eases right into the next one. However, as I’m starting book 2 I can already tell that these 3 books could be one. Anyway, I’m involved now and need to know how the story ends because Bonnie has learned some deeply buried family secrets that’s caused her to want revenge.

I bought this book on amazon, I was looking for new mafia authors and I'm so happy I bought the paperback. I loved this book I read it in a couple of hours. Bonnie is great, I found her to be super funny, I don't think she's meant to be but I LOL alot. Israel is dark, hard faced Mafia king. He's taken over from his father and his family want him to married Bonnie, But Bonnie's family have other plans. There's lots of secret and twist in this book. It's really gripping . I'm so glad I found it.

I really didn't understand this book. There seemed to be huge chunks missing, it's lacking depth especially regarding the characters. Both characters were weird AF. The synopsis was really good but didn't live up to the expectations. :( Sorry.

Cruel prince meets mob boss

This was an easy read trying to get out of a reading funk but its like cruel prince meets mob boss. I hate constantly manipulation and the gone with the wind style love you then don’t moments but that’s just my preference.

Its well written and the steamy parts are good

This book nor it characters were my cup of tea. I rated it as a 2.5. The writing itself was good as well as the editing, thus the 2.5 rating. The story line had so much potential had the characters themselves been more dynamic and interesting. It's not often that I like the hero more than the heroine but Bonnie's character drove me crazy. There are naive characters and there are characters that just don't get it.

Bonnie enters into this arranged marriage as her cousin Brianna and doesn't get that she is being used as the sacrificial lamb in the plot to marry Israel and kill him. Meanwhile Uncle dearest, her cousin and Aunt are the ones that stand to reap the benefits once Israel is dead. Apparently Bonnie doesn't understand that Uncle dearest won't need two wives of the late Israel Rossi to claim the estate and his families Mafia territories, just one. She marries Israel only knowing what her Uncle has told her about him and apparently doesn't do her own homework to discover what she is getting into. Several missteps later she decides she can't poison him because she likes him, but still has the snake venom in her purse. He finds it and oops things go sideways. She cooks up a storm as some kind of way of connecting with him (who would eat anything prepared by someone that was going to poison you with snake venom) and can't understand why he doesn't want to eat what she cooks. The characters don't even establish a real connection until the end of this book.

When they get attacked at Israel's house during the night, Bonnie is supposed to be well trained in tactical weaponry such as guns and knives. She has the opportunity to shoot one of her Uncles's Henchmen but is unable to. What? You are about to be killed and you can't shoot the guy?

By the end of this book with Israel's help Bonnie finally finds out the truth about the death of her parents, the estate that conveniently went to her uncle, not to her; and how much she has been played and used by her Uncle. This book ended on a cliff hanger. Perhaps book 2 will allow Bonnie's character to grow and mature. Perhaps she and Israel will become a team and succeed in this war between the families. Unfortunately for me, I am not invested enough in this story or it's characters to see what happens.

Cliche and not in a good way! I had the book figured out before the halfway point.
There were also parts that didn’t make sense or flow with the book.

Love, Betrayal, and Power

Kingpin” delivers a gripping mix of suspense, intrigue, and romance, plunging readers into the dark, treacherous world of mafia politics and power plays. At the heart of this story is Bonnie, a strong heroine who navigates an arranged marriage intended to bring peace between feuding families. The early setup has a familiar mafia romance feel, but as the story unravels, the plot’s twists and character dynamics elevate it into something more engaging and raw.

The story’s pacing feels like a roller coaster—intense moments interspersed with emotional depth. Bonnie, initially entering the marriage under a fake identity and as a pawn in her uncle’s schemes, shows a lot of growth throughout the novel. She transitions from a “damsel in distress” to a fierce warrior, taking control of her fate and finding power amidst the chaos. The journey of her rising from her ashes was a highlight, giving her character a satisfying arc.

Israel, the hero, is brooding and intense, but Vincent takes care to show his more subtle traits, allowing readers to understand why Bonnie might fall for him. His character strikes a balance between ruthlessness and vulnerability, adding complexity to their relationship. While Bonnie and Israel’s relationship is central, there’s a satisfying tension between loyalty, love, and survival that keeps the plot intriguing.

The storyline is filled with betrayal, family manipulation, and a toxic uncle who deserves every ounce of the readers’ hate. His presence drives a lot of the conflict, and I can’t wait to see his downfall in future books.

One downside is that this isn’t a standalone, so we’re left hanging as to where Bonnie and Israel’s story will go next. The open-endedness will have readers hungry for the sequel.

Overall, “Kingpin” is an engaging dark mafia romance that combines elements of danger, passion, and resilience. If you love strong heroines, deep-seated family feuds, and steamy, tension-filled romance, you’ll enjoy this one. Just be prepared to dive into the next installment!

Meh. It was okay. I found the character's motivations and actions unrealistic, but the story continued at a quick enough pace. It wasn't overly boring, but not too interesting either.

I don't see why either of the main characters (Bonnie and Israel) would fall in love or even like each other. To the author's credit, Israel doesn't seem to actually fall in love. There is certainly attraction though.

When reading "dark mafia romances" I expect the characters to be dark. That expectation includes the protagonists. This doesn't really occur in this book. Yes, they shoot people but I only ever see the protagonists display any type of darkness when used in opposition to the comically evil antagonists. Bonnie's uncle seems to be evil for the sake of money and power, but he's seemingly too stupid to actually do anything properly. I don't understand why he would need a inexplicably silly plan to kill Bonnie instead of just shooting her in the head. Israel is oddly kind to Bonnie despite her lying and trying to him. He literally has no reason not to kill her after he first realizes she was sent to kill him. One could argue that it's human decency but when faced with the fact that he's the literal leader of a crime family, human decency is off the table.

This book was a silly quick read and I don't plan to continue the series.

Okay, first off, for a debut, I think the author did okay. The story had some good moments, and I can see where they were going with it, but if I’m being honest, it didn’t have that wow factor I was hoping for.

Plus side though, the book was a quick, fast-paced read, with all the mafia romance vibes—arranged marriage, false identity, family secrets, blood ties, and the whole deal. So, woohoo for that. It’s just unfortunate that I didn’t feel super hooked the whole time. Again, it was fine, but it didn’t exactly blow me away or keep me up at night thinking about it. It was just kind of... there, if that makes sense? Not my favorite, but not a complete waste of time either.

Anyways, I think I’d still be interested in seeing what else the author writes in the future regardless.

*Anyone else feel along the same set of lines with this one?

I can't with these two characters and their wishy washy thoughts that come out of nowhere and make no sense. Tried to push through but had to DNF at 50% the leading lady and man are just giving "I'm trying to be something but not really that hard" ...and its annoying. Day one she's all about the plan to kill him so she can go on vacation...even though she's never been in the family business...and then day two...after barely having spoken to him she's all..."maybe I can make this marriage work"...girl what?! I just can't.

This mafia novella was a quick read. A typical arranged marriage but with a twist! The bride is not who the groom thought she was AND she was assigned to end his life. The plot twists were intriguing but the story was so rushed that it was hard to “believe” in the story. It all just felt too shallow. Having said that, however, I am interested enough to read the next instalment of this series, as this ends on a cliffhanger. Hopefully, the next book is longer, allowing for deeper and more detailed story lines. .

Dark mafia at it’s best!

A fabulous five star read that had me hooked from the first page. Bonnie entered an arranged marriage to try and save her family, only to be deceived the entire time. Israel is ready to take over a rival family and agreed to marry Bonnie aka Brianna. Bonnie and Israel uncover who is behind the attempt on their lives and vow revenge. Feelings between the two evolve, making things more complicated. I can wait to read the second part!

Ok when you read the synopsis sounds good and the beginning of the story it was. But then OMG was boring and the fact the characters are a little odd why? Well he belong to the mafia but frankly you describe a normal guy is not the alpha male of mafia and the girl is so ridiculous always trying to please cooking and doing other ridiculous things. The story was so boring and ridiculous. Sorry but no for me

This is just the beginning.

Bonnie Moretti is asked by her uncle to pretend to be his daughter Brianna in order to marry Israel Rossi and kill him. Bonnie agrees since she feels like her uncle says ed her after her parents died when she was five years old. This is just the beginning of their story and its a pretty good read. I'm looking forward to reading book two, Mob Princess to find out what happens next.

A great steamy, afternoon read. If you need more mafia boys in your life, this is one to add. A few arguments I have for characterization flaws but not enough to take a star. The story kept me turning pages and I read the whole series in one, steady flow 🤓 As this is the first for the author, I especially look forward to more.

Ugh. I wanted to like this story so much! But the whiplash of inconsistencies and the constant repeat of the relationship (we do/we don't) was too much. Such a good idea/plot! However, add in the horrible dialogue, weakness of the heroine (who could've been so bada$$!!), and it just ruined the story for me. Don't waste your time.

Good read..but ..

Hoping there is a second book to finish the story. I'm not a big fan of incomplete novels forcing you to wait for the sequel. I enjoy mafia series that tie the familia characters together but finish the story of each couple in one novel.

This book was the first I've read from this author and there was almost no character development. The first part of the book was like 10 pages and then it was a month later and they were married ?? The whole plot felt rushed and unfinished.

I loved this trilogy. It is filled with deception, betrayal, plotting, vengeance, assassinations, and chemistry. The MCs are defined, somewhat likable, but they grow on you. There is a possibility of a HEA in this engaging and entertaining collection.
