There’s only one rule in this don’t fall in love.
Getting romantically involved always brings trouble, and I already have plenty of that working for Eric Santone.
This job requires focus and a lack of morals, two things I undoubtedly have.
Until the beautiful bartender, I’ve been watching for the last year needs help.
I can’t fight the instinct to protect Michelle…
Or my desire for the woman who’s too damn good to get involved with the likes of me.
Secrets. Lies. Backstabbing. Death.
It’s all just part of this gig.
But I never could have anticipated how deeply entangled the girl of my dreams really is in all this mess, or what I’ll do to protect her.

Great background info on how Joe Mancini became the man he turned into. He is released from the orphanage he was raised in only to find out that the world he thought he was going to master turns out to be cold and cruel. He meets Donny and Bryan, the two men who teach him the ropes and also turn out to be the "family" he never had. Quick read but one you don't want to miss and will make you anxious to read Mob Ties.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

This is the prequel to the Mob Ties series. It introduces us to Joe Mancini and how he went from being an orphan to his current profession.

It's a short but engaging read that left me wanting to know more about him and the people he now calls family. The next book in the series is on my to read list.

I received a free copy of this book.

Mob Ties (prequel): A young man (Joe) leaves the orphanage he grew up in only to quickly be broke and homeless until the mafia takes note of him. Quick prequel. Sweet ending in its own way—a boy finds a family.

It's there. Neither good or bad. It probably depicts the normal way a young man gets hooked into the mob. Really, it briefly introduces Joe, the narrator of the story.
