Interesting Little Book on Thyroid Disorders with Some Interesting Recipes (4/5)

I ended up picking the book up out of curiosity when it came up in my recommended list. Given people close to me in my life have suffered from various thyroid issues.

What Worked for Me: The book provided a good overview of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. It also offers a ton of sources to verify the information. I enjoyed the way the details were presented (often books like these err into being too clinical and dry; on the other hand, they can also veer into being goofy, which is also hard to parse). I enjoyed the fish recipes that were listed (made the Salmon with Honey and Wasabi, with a few minor flavor deviations). Plan on trying the Blackened Fish and Avocado Tacos later. I also can see the value in the example grocery list and fourteen-day meal plan, especially for those just getting started on how to handle making themselves healthy meals.

What Didn't Work For Me: There are a few recipes I think a novice cook might need a bit of help with (or have another cookbook to give a background of a few terms). And while I appreciate the information at the beginning, when I am getting a book of recipes, I tend to expect a text full of recipes (versus ~1/2 being recipes).

The Gist of It: My general synopsis is this is an entryway informational book about thyroid disorders, with example meals to support a healthy thyroid. It provides a good foundation for some meals you can eat throughout two weeks while also providing a ton of sources for the reader. While many of the recipes are on the "just getting started" end, there are a couple of gems I am interested in trying out in my meals at home.
