Jessa Robson applied to the alien match program for the money. After a string of disappointing relationships and a childhood spent shuffling between foster homes, she doesn’t envision love in her future. When she’s chosen to be a mistress for a Virilian male, she sees that five-million-dollar fee as her ticket to an independent life, free from scraping by and dead-end jobs. All she has to do is provide one of those gorgeous Virilian males with an heir. But she doesn’t expect such a powerful connection to her match—the enigmatic and devastatingly handsome Virak Braal, ruler of Tagja City.
Virak has had one failed pairing and has no expectation that this one will turn out better. The life of a Virilian king is solitary and Virak, who was raised by brutal combat trainers and cold attendants, has learned to keep everyone at arm’s length—emotionally and physically. Virak is immediately drawn to Jessa, but he long ago accepted his discomfort with closeness and touch. When his city is invaded, putting him and Jessa in danger, primal forces within him snap the chains on his tight control.
A familiar enemy threatens Virilia, forcing Virak to trust allies, both old and new. Finding out who is behind the deadly Sifter group’s growing power will put Virak’s leadership to the test and expose Jessa to the darkest part of him.
This is book three of the Virilian Mail Order Mates series. It features no cliffhangers and no cheating. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and always a happy ending.
Virilian Mail Order Mates is an alien romance series. Each book in this series comes filled with adventure as romance blooms between two individuals: an alien Varilian and a human woman. The Varilians are aliens from a far away galaxy. They are humanoid, but with natural dark circles around their eyes (looks like they’re wearing black eyeshadow), a dark blue tail with a sharp spiked end, a god-like muscular figure, and covered in tattoos. Whenever a Virilian’s home or loved one is threatened, they turn into a rare demon form that runs so hot it burns everything around them. They grow in size in this form, skin emitting a red color, with flaming eyes and horns. As would be expected, they typically scare their unprepared human mate whenever this form takes over. The Virilians are running low on women and children, caused by a mysterious virus (of course), so they turned to Earth and it’s biologically compatible females. Earth agreed to the Virilian’s need for women, allowing only 10 women at a time to be selected with each woman generously compensated for their participation. The female candidates are selected by a blind Virilian sage who can see the souls of the perfect matches. Once chosen, their journey begins.
Virak is book 3 in this series, and follows the Virilian King Virak Braal and his chosen human mate Jessa Robson. Jessa was chosen as one of the 10 candidates by Ferias (the blind Virilian sage). Jessa grew up a foster kid, moving from home to home. Growing up poor and struggling to make ends meet, she was going to use the money from her baby to buy herself a farm. She never thought she would make a good mother. Virak is the king of the neighboring underground city to King Drax. We met him a couple times in prior books. He already had a mate chosen for him by Ferias who he was quite fond of; Ferias that is, not the earth woman. The last woman chose to leave after he was unable to touch her. That’s the thing with Vikar; his past left touch painful for him, so he has difficulty copulating to say the least. Jessa figured it out though, and displayed an incredible amount of patience helping him work through it. The beginning was a little confusing; chapter 1 clarified that he had a human mate prior to Jessa, but she chose to leave. If that was the case, his assistant wouldn’t have had to update his translator with English. So that was a continuity error on the author’s part. It pulled me from the story almost immediately, but I was back on track quickly. Virak had animal sanctuaries within his city, which was one of many things that warmed Jessa up to Virak and she slowly changed her mind about returning to Earth. There was adventure with his city coming under attack. Virak fleed to Drax for help and they conquered the threat. Not before Jessa got a taste of Virak’s primitive form after a captive threatened Jessa, which resulted in Jessa freaking out. With the help of her new friends Paeri (who can read minds) and Madison (Drax’s human mate), she calmed down and accepted the answers. In the end, they all got their happily ever after.
The tension and buildup was slightly unbalanced. Because of Virak’s condition, it took him more than half way through the book just for them to kiss, never-mind intercorse. It progressed a little too slow for my personal liking. Can’t win them all I guess, lol. The attraction was mutual and consent respected. The sexual encounters were erotic. The Virilian’s cocks didn’t vibrate or suck or do anything “alien like,” so to speak, but they were significantly larger than that of a human male’s. Yet somehow, each woman is able to take them like a champ. I still don’t know how women are able to “adapt” so well to giant cocks in all these alien romance novels. I personally had a lover with a well-equipped 10 inches at one point, and not once in our 2 years together did his cock ever get fully sheathed inside me. Is it just me? Are women’s vaginas drastically deeper than mine? I don’t get it. But I digress… it’s nice to fantasize about being “filled” again as I read these unrealistic love stories. If we ever do suffer a legit alien invasion, all us alien romance fanatics will be flocking to the spaceships with signs begging for abduction. Knowing my luck, it will be more like Independence Day and the aliens will be interested in destruction opposed to procreation. Damn it… I digress again…
Yes, this book (and possible series) is worth the read. I miss the first person format of my favorite authors, but this author has mastered the art of third person without removing her audience from the story. I will continue with this series. Onto the next book…

This book is really 3.5⭐️ rounded up to 4 🌟 Ok Don’t get me wrong I like this author and I still will read her books through KU but I rarely buy them anymore afterwards. I will read the next book in the series but I am sure I will feel the same and return it afterwards😔. The 1st book I read by this author was “Bonded to the Stryxian”. It was so sweet had action and was so steamy too🔥🔥 but then all the other books following that series was very limited in steamy scenes that I got bored with the series and stopped reading. I started this series Hoping it would have more steamy scenes but alas they don’t 😒😔 Ok my little rant is over😜🤫
In this book it took a little bit of time for these characters to warm up to each other. Of course the Main Guy, Virak, is sweet. It took me awhile to warm up to the Main 👩 in this book she was a little off putting in the 1st half and really didn’t warm up that much in the last half either, IMO, lol. I just never warmed up to her. I did like the animals in this book though, lol 😻. I will say that the situation Virak has is different than what you usually read in these kind of books 📚 Hats off to Ms. Blake for doing that. I was very interested in learning about this King and why his 1st “Mail Order Mate” left when I read about him in the book before this one, “Drex”. This book is for people who don’t want that much steam in their books. I know there are a lot of people enjoying will enjoy this book. I am returning this book and downloading the next, “Niir”. I liked him in the 1st book and glad he is getting his own book 😀❤️
This is my very favorite of the three. I have loved all of them but didn't take the time to review. My bad. Anyway, this story had it all. I'm so tired of really bad barbarians that are one step up from Neanderthals and the three males in these books are SO wonderful, sexy, intelligent and charming that I fell in love with immediately. Thank you Ella Blake. You are truly a gift to a reader such as me. The world building is so creative and readers can picture everything down to the details. But the romance......awe the romance!!! It's so much more to love. Our girl has had a childhood that makes her perfect for our King. The moments or therapy sessions that she had with him were both sweet and sexy. I held my breath right along with the King. Can't wait for the next and truly recommend this to all SCR readers like me that love the romance and less hardship. Guess I'm a bit of a fairytale type of reader but this rocks. LOVE IT.
Another quick read in the Virilian series, this features Viral, the King met in the previous book, who has some intimacy issues, and his selected match Jessa, a human who signed up entirely for the bonus.
It’s worth mentioning that this series is best read in order, since many events build upon problems that have arisen before, and that there is a background story which began in Drex’s book leaving a couple of open ends in it; they’re not entirely closed by the end of this one, so the situation is still ongoing. It’s fast paced though, with some action and some romance, and an intriguing background story. Recommended for sci-fi romance lovers.
This book may have been the best of the three this author has written in this series. The characters are very interesting and like able. There is some action but this is mostly relationship driven novel. I did not give it a 5 star because it was a bit angsty, needed a bit more action and annoyed me a bit with 21st century sensibilities, just a little. It is a bit of a pet peeve when I see authors imbuing politically correct attitudes into their males. However this author does it in a pretty deft way
Fast paced alien romance. I like to read books like this when I need a break from anguish, heartache romance books or I'm bored and I need a quick fix. Virak has got his second human for breeding the first human left there's is a secret why she left. They tell the aliens secret pretty quickly. There is not a lot of suspense or drama in this book. It's just Jessa the humane and Virak the alien king trying to get along and have a baby.
Love this series. You have done a great job with the flow from one book to the other. This is important to me in a series. Viral was wonderful. He had a lot to over come His caring and love for his people and thing around him was amazing Not only a outstanding book to read but a wonderful series
Three happy couples, each continues to the next novel like one big happy family!
Another adventure that was really good. King Virak and Jessa was a beautiful, loving story that I could not put down. Both had similar stories about being raised as orphans, rejected and mistreated. Virak couldn't tolerate anyone touching him. Jessa never gives up!
This book was so good that it inspired me to write a short review rather than just a rating. The interactions of the protagonists were so in-depth that they tugged at my heart. I'm new to the writings of this author but this story has convinced me to add her to my list of favorites. Thank you Ms Blake for such an exciting and moving book!
This is an enjoyable series filled with interesting characters and a storey line that moves forward easily engaging the reader quickly to become invested. This is a new author for me and I greatly appreciate discovering her and the world she created It
Loved Virak and Jessa’s story!!! The chemistry was hot. The action combustible and the romance explosive! This quote from the book is insightful, “stop thinking about what you’re running from and begin loving what you’ve found”.
This was a great book. I am so loving this series. Who would have thought Varak secret was he couldn’t stand to be touched. Glad that Jesse realized it and slowly won his heart.
Jessa wants to get this over with and get her money. Virak doesn't know what to do he wants her but he has a problem. Jessa catches on right away what his problem is and starts to help him. But there are other forces working against them. Enjoy
Virak was a wonderful character, his need to protect and provide for people and animals made for a great read with his stumbling block to relationships.
Loved the storyline and the characters. Great world building and a very interesting enemy. I love how the Virilian males go all hulk when their females are threatened.
This one bothered me mostly because of how Virak was "cured" of his trauma, how the heroine just assumes she can "fix" him and also can we please not pretend that these virgin men just "know" how to perform oral sex to perfection with no training or verbal support. It gets a little eye rolling. I did love the animals and the tie in with the other city.
