Murder in the empire means war for the Kingdom of Lugunica!

While Julius, Reinhard, and Ferris are on a diplomatic mission to secure a peace treaty, a Volakian general winds up dead. All fingers point to…the Sword Saint? The three knights find themselves on the run and abduct the ruler of the Empire himself, Vincent Volakia. Their only hope is to stay alive long enough to uncover the real culprit behind the killing. With the famous Nine Divine Generals after them, however, that might be easier said than done!

An entertaining collection of short stories of the most popular Knights in the Re: ZERO universe. It was good to see other empires as well. Not much to say really, I like this spin-off because of the depth given to many "secondary" characters.

3/5

One note though, I was kind of spoiled by the author's end remarks because this was out in Japan along with the main series' volume 22. However, the English version is at volume 14 at the time of this review, so yeah lol. Not big of a deal though.

Of all the EX volumes, this one's probably the best in worldbuilding and action, we get to know more about Vollachia and its leading figures, alongside Ferris, Reinhard and Julius.

Not terrible, but the stories are just not that interesting. I guess it was important to build up the background of certain secondary characters that will show up in the main series.

Just boring…
