Sought ( Leaving Bennet Behind Book 5)

The exciting ending to a great series written by Sarah Johnson. All the loose ends were tied up in tight knots that ended the treachery to those related to the Darcy family. The plans to harm anyone related to the Darcy family begin to unravel with the death of Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Geoffrey Wickham who happened to be one of the bastard twin sons of her dead husband, Sir Lewis de Bourgh. Discovery that one of their own family members financed the mishaps plaguing the family, has left them feeling no loss for either death. Missing was the second son, George Wickham, the scoundrel responsible for kidnapping Georgiana Darcy and the cause of her accident. Wickham is on a downward spiral after his brother’s death, but he’s convinced by Mrs. Younge to get revenge on the Darcy family by kidnapping the last Bennet daughter, Lydia, and holding her for ransom. Lieutenant Denny is still in Meryton watching over the family, especially Lydia. When she is abducted, Denny tracks them to London then onto Brighton. Gets information back to his superiors and tries to rescue Lydia by himself. Caught, Wickham beats him violently trying get information from him, but he doesn’t break. Thrown in the dark, cold room with Lydia, days go by before they are rescued. Wickham is tricked into leaving the cabin and is captured. The same happens to Mrs. Younge. Given her days spend with Lieutenant Denny, a marriage is expected.

Loved this series about all of the Bennet girls and their friends. In this last book, Lydia finds true love with her rescuer. Georgiana overcomes her handicap and finds live unexpectedly. Several mysteries are solved, families are grown, Longbourn is no longer in entail, and Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are finally at a point in their lives where they can find time to themselves and enjoy their expanding and extended families. A happy ending for all!

Avid Reader

I loved reading the final book in this series! Preston didn't know just how much he made Lydia dislike him with his horrible comments about her family, especially her sisters. Fortunately, Georgina and Lydia married the right men for the right reasons. All of the Bennet sisters had a happy ending, and Wickham and Mrs. Younge received what they deserved.

Enjoyed the ride

I read all five books through over several days. A tale of the Bennett family with all the good and bad to happen. There were twists and turns but the story of each daughter was carefully rendered. I usually only read ODC stories but this was so cohesive that I did not mind that it wasn’t just about ODC.

4 Stars for book 5

- Sought/Book 5 held my interest the entire time.

- As far as the complete series, books 1, 4, and 5 are my favorites.

- Darcy's character was spot-on through the series.

- I appreciate how the author put her own spin on some of the characters. Especially, the Wickham's backstory.

A fitting end

This story proved to be so entertaining and it neatly tied all the lose ends for a wonderful close to the series.
