But fate had other plans and now he not only has a mate, it's also one he didn't ask for.
Still recovering from his capture and abuse at the hands of the Collector, Jaden wants revenge. But things aren't what they seem and the female he's been forced to bond with comes with secrets that could destroy what is left of his control.
Can Jaden defeat his demons or will they swallow him whole?
You must read Midnight Hunt before starting Midnight Fury. This continues directly from the events in the novella.Like the other books, this contains scenes and situations which may trigger you.
If you are looking for gentle romps through the flowers, with lovers holding hands and never making mistakes, then my books are not for you.
I don't write heroes or heroines, I write people with baggage, history and problems. My characters are flawed, they're messy, they make disastrous mistakes that are hard to come back from. My stories are not sweet or kind, they are dark and, at times, cruel. They deal with uncomfortable subjects and I do not apologise for it.
If you like plot twists, characters you don't think you'll ever grow to love but eventually do, sarcasm, dark paths and messy relationships, then come on in. The water may be deep and shark-infested, but I know the way out ...I promise.

Have you stuck to the series this far? This book is for you! Even if you've harboured some doubts recently, I cannot recommend Sky and Jaden's story enough!
⤐ Overall. At this point in literary history, there hasn't been a love story that's not been told in some way or another. What still makes Romance so great is the sweet, sweet song of the nightingale that starts humming inside of me as soon as I can get a first glimpse at that sparkle between the two love interests.
In the past, I was occasionally put off by the unnecessarily cruel behaviour of the Midnight pack males. I would really love for the softer side of men to take up more space in the Romance world. It does not make you less of a man / strong / desirable / insert stigma here to admit you're hurt or insecure and there's more coping mechanisms than running off or barking insults and humiliate your potential SO. Communication is said to work wonders and it doesn't have to negotiate the arch of suspense. This, of course, does not exclusively apply to (cishet) men.
I feel like Jaden's on a good way already since he gave up the asshole road quite quickly. I could really witness his change in attitude and way of thinking although I somehow wished his behaviour would reflect that better. (Says the person who's got a tough time articulate and show her feelings, lollzzz)
On another nod, Thanks to Lee Ann, I found a new appreciation for male voices narrating romances. It's quite a change to the usual female narrators and I've come to love it!
⤐ What’s happening. Jaden's choice of a mate was taken from him brutally. Kidnapped and raped at the hands of a collector, he now finds himself stuck with a young feline shapeshifter as his eternal mate. Sky transfers from one form of imprisonment to another but wants nothing more than to protect her siblings from the cruel repercussions that will no doubt follow her flight from the collector. Neither means they will stay away from each other. _____________________ 4 STARS. Would stay up beyond my typical hours to finish it. I found some minor details I didn't like, agree with or lacked in some kind but overall, this was enjoyable and extraordinary. _____________________ Many thanks to the author pair L. Ann who, despite my harsh criticism, continues to trust me with her audiobooks.
I love this series. This is the first book I’ve read rather than listened to and I felt like Mike was reading with me. These books need to be read in order and 3.5 is the setup for Jaden’s story.
Jaden met his mate in difficult circumstances. Now the trust is misfiring.
Skye wants to save her family. She is part of the animals held by a collector. He uses her family to keep her under control. The collector likes to experiment and the shifters he uses are are at his mercy.
When Jaden comes into Skye’s life things get complicated. He messes everything up and saves her. Only she knows her family will suffer without her.
Jaden doesn’t remember what happened when he was captured and blames Skye for her part.
The pair don’t want to be mated but as this story unfolds the pair fit. Both are strong characters but everyone needs somebody.
This series is about the midnight shifter pack. By book four we have a whole family to love. Each character brings an extra element. This series is great on Audible but also every page sucks you in. I can’t wait for more.
Jaden and Skye met in dire circumstances, a mate bond was forced that has Jaden epically pissed and Skye wary, she needs to get back to the zoo to protect those she loves but with Jaden not trusting her word she finds herself between a rock and a hard place. There's a lot of hate coming from Jaden in the first part of the book, and understandably but depth as needed and the author needed to give him and Skye time to overcome all they had done and endured.
Reaching the end of this, my first thought was that the story was unfinished, so much more needed to be done.
It didn't feel like the MCs had developed a powerful emotional connection/bond, and given all that had occurred, this was something that needed to happen.
Words... words to describe this... Emotional, traumatic, redemptive, sexy, roller-coaster-of-feelings... Basically everything you need in a good book. Pretty much->L. Ann does it again!
Ugh... I love this series. It has singlehandedly ruined me for every other shifter book. I keep trying with other ones, and they just fall flat compared these. These are packed with action, and a kind of suspense that's keeps you hooked to every word.
Does anyone else rank characters in a series? Deacon will always be my favorite, (I challenge L. Ann to make a better character, please rise to the occasion ;) ) and now Jaden has been made a solid runner up to him. I really like Jaden, despite the fact that he does a lot of really, really stupid things in this story. That guy, what a stubborn pain in the ass. You'll notice one of my descriptive words was redemptive, though right?
Also, I really, really love Skye. What a woman. I don't even know how to properly prepare you for the kind of character she is. She is selfless, and strong, even though at first she doesn't seem that way. But her compassion shines. I think she and Ava will be fast friends.
Fans of her work will be pleased to know that while there is certainly a bridge left open for more books in the series, (which I have it on good authority will be continuing in the near future), there is not a cliff hanger. At least not besides really wanting more of these characters, but that's the norm.
This book follows all of the dark paths that previous book have. I'll include my trigger warning below, because I always do with this kind of thing, but BE WARNED, this particular trigger warning is inherently a spoiler. If you don't want to be spoiled, remember, this has dark themes running through it. The entire series has! By book four, you should really be prepared for that, but some people just don't get it. They keep thinking this is going to be some kind of sunshine and rainbows deal, and that's not how L. Ann writes. If that's what you want, you're 100% in the wrong place.
If you want a story that has some serious meat to it and will challenge your emotions, and general thought processes about trauma, then you're in good company. This is not fluffy reading material. I can direct you to some if you need it though. These characters feel authentic, and their emotions are viscerally real. Even when you want to smack them in the face for being dumb, you also understand why they behave the way they do. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Is this far enough? Here comes the Trigger Warning/SPOILER WARNING--Stop here if you don't like spoilers, I will not be held responsible if you feel spoiled and are mad about it. You've been warned sufficiently... . . . . . . Here it is: Those triggered by themes of rape (in this instance, particularly male rape), trafficking, and general abuse may want to steer clear of this book... and series, honestly. But the one part of my warning that makes this spoilery is the one that hits home for me personally, and it's not one that has been present before. This story also involves a miscarriage. When it happens, it's not super surprising. I feel like there was enough lead up, that when it came to light it made sense. It's not described in detail, but it is there. Loss of child, regardless of age, is something I don't mess around with when it comes to trigger warnings, as it effects ME deeply. So, be warned, if you need that warning. I don't feel like it was handled carelessly, or frivolously, and it didn't effect my enjoyment of the book. Still. Just saying.
This one was a conflicting one which is why it’s rated as half of five stars. Honestly it felt like two different books. The first half was blame game and flip flopping of consent and wild personal emotional attacks without enough internal monologue to drive home just how fucked up everyone was here.
The second half was much closer to the what I had enjoyed in the previous books. Pack being family and coming together and fucking people up. The issue was there was no big “ohhhhhh” moment to connect the two disjointed halves and so it just felt strange. Neither side was bad on its own but there needed to be more middle, bridging gaps and mending fences to make sense of the profession we got here.
"Kitten, there's a list a mile long about what's wrong with my life right now but that....what you did...if there was ever a perfect moment to be had in my life, you nailed it."
OMG! This series just keeps getting better and better!! I've read series before that after the first few books just kind of fizzle out. Not this one!! Every book is captivating making you eager for the next one!!
First, let's talk about Jaden. He never wanted a mate, content to satisfy his needs on the fly - no commitment, no strings, and no mating. Now, he's got what he never wanted and he didn't have a choice. Abused and held prisoner at the hands of The Collector, Jaden becomes a pawn in the Collector's twisted experiments, leaving Jaden battered, bloodied, and.......mated. His anger know no boundaries, and his reluctance to accept that his wolf wants what his human doesn't leaves him with an inner battle, the victor of which is anyone's guess. But, is his anger misplaced? Can he trust his new mate or is there more to her than she is letting on? His head may tell him he needs to break their bond, but his heart and his body have a whole different plan.
Now, let's talk about Skye. Being mated to Jaden was something she would have never chosen, but she was given no choice. Well, there was a choice, but not one with any happy ending. Now, with the mating bond complete, and Jaden fighting it, and her every step of the way, will she ever be able to convince Jaden of the truth? The truth behind their mating, and the truth about who, or what, she truly is, may destroy them both. No matter what happens to she and Jaden, or if she lives or dies, she is determined to save one thing. Her family. But, is there time?
I wanted to slap Jaden for being so horrible to Skye, but at the same time wanted to hug him for what he went through. I likewise wanted to slap Skye for trying to deal with everything on her own and keeping secrets, but I also had to admire her for her willingness to sacrifice everything for those she loves. While their pairing may have been....unconventional to say the least, these two were made for each other!
Like I said, this series never loses momentum! Each book full of alpha males, snarky mates, suspense, action, and of course, steam!! I can't wait for the next one!!
Wow people!!! I repeat WOW!! I cannot tell you how much I love this series. L. Ann is an amazing master of everything dark and twisty.Sensitively done she gives us a story that will make you think. Make you get angry then make your heart warm. Jaden and Skye are both victims of the same sick and twisted scientist. As they both deal with the after affects of captivity nothing appears to calm the storm Jaden has brewing for what has happened to him. Skye is a beautifully strong and resilient character her selflessness gets her into deep water. she is the light that Jaden sees eventually to help bring them both some peace. These books are just getting better the further along they get. Lots of action, great story and just the right amount of steam it keeps you reading then wanting more. We get some new characters, more Deacon sass and the rest of the midnight pack are there. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series be sure to before reading this. Congratulations L.Ann you have done it again!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So glad the author did not stop at a trilogy, Midnight Pack had to be a series, one lovers of shifter books will want to read. I loved how through the author, we are able to follow the rollercoaster of Jaden’s emotions as he tries to process the anger and confusion about his mating to Skye, whose strength of character does not buckle under the hostility that Jaden is displaying towards her. Whilst still opening up more about the intrinsic characteristics of the Jacob brothers and others in the Midnight Pack and exploring the warped mentality of the collectors. I look forward to reading the next book. I am hoping it is about Asher or Chase, both deserve to find their true mate and feel it will be worth the wait.
I was lucky to be given an early copy to read and I absolutely loved it.
This is Jaden’s story. I was so desperate to see where this story would take us at the end of Midnight Hunt. Jaden is an angry soul at the start of this story and the journey in this book is not easy but how does he deal with it? Lots of brooding and shouting and denial - all prodded and poked at by our other favourites Deacon and Shaun. The plot takes us on twists and turns and I have to admit to a few times that I had to put the book down to catch my breath. I love the Midnight Pack and I think this may well be my favourite story of them all.
If you haven’t read midnight Hunt book 3.5 don’t read this because it won’t make sense because jaden and Skye’s story starts there first, this continues off where midnight hunt ends , Jaden and Skye’s relationship isn’t all glitter and shit it’s all about the animals bond not the humans , they don’t have that epic fated mate connection as humans. If you love angsts and action with some sexy shifter sex then yeah you’re going to love this , jaden is a asshole but by god I love a ass and Skye’s a sassy little kitty who has a caring soul
Oh, oh, oh, I cannot emphasise how much I loved this book, 5 stars just isnt enough.
It has been an epic ride from book 1 and they just keep getting better and better and this book does not disappoint.
Jaden and Skyes story has you going through all the feels and more , it is a must read for shifter fans. I love the Midnight Pack and cant wait for more.
Midnight Fury: (Midnight Pack Wolf Shifter Romance - Book 4) by L. Ann is an amazing story that I have had the privilege of read. This is book number four in this amazing series that I have loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about wolf shifters and paranormal romance in their stories.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
L. Ann has done it again and has written another great book. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. It was a very emotional book and I felt Jaden’s and Skye’s pain and happiness. I can’t wait until the next one!
Jaden and Skye's story is amazing!! So worth the read. It's flawless in the way it was written, and the story line hooks so well you don't realize your nearing the end of the book till you only have 5% left. Can't wait for it to be on audio so I listen to the story as well.
I am a little gobsmacked with this author and series. It has blown my expectations out of the water. I love the world and characters. I love that there is an interconnectedness to the stories and the characters. It is not just a cameo here and there but the past characters are all integral parts to the story without overpowering which character is the main one in the book. That takes serious skill as a writer to be able to do that.
I'm not sure how I discovered this author but I'm sure glad I did. I'm A huge fan now.
L. Ann always has another twist in store with each new book. Jaden, and how he deals with the dilemma he finds himself in, makes for quite a story. Skye, and the secret she keeps & doesn’t get revealed until later in the book, is a good match for him. Their “relationship” develops, yet doesn’t, at the same time. I must say, with the Collectors being introduced, it’s going to make me look more carefully when visiting my local zoo. As horrific as it sounds in the book, I just feel that in reality, this is something that could happen. There are always people who will target those who are different, whether humans or shifter, and it makes for a sad world. How the Pack deals with it though, accepting it for the world they currently live in, but not making it hold them back, shows the strength they have. I like seeing how the Pack responds to Cormac as Alpha. He leads in such a way, that he takes on the cloak of responsibility, so they don’t have to do so to his extent. Deacon & Shaun continue to be bantering twins. Seeing the interaction between the two different packs in this story, and how Cormac KNEW what he was doing by bringing the mates along, just proves how much he is the true leader. Shaun getting back to himself before what was done to him is nice to see. All in all, I love this series and continue to look forward to the next story. I’m lucky in the sense that I found this series after several books have been published. It’s going to kill me now that I am at the point of having to WAIT for the next book. Keep them coming, L. Ann!
Love this book and series. This book has all the feels. It will take you on an emotional journey. You will shed lots of tears You will not be able to put this book down. Your heart will break and be mended in the next chapter. Jaden goes through an emotional roller coaster. He blames Skye for everything that happened to him. Skye goes through her own hell. Her strength and loyalty to those she loves is remarkable. I absolutely love her character. She’s is a heroine. Jaden and Skye are so perfect for each other but they have to kick and claw to find their way to each other and past the past that brought them together. This book is my favorite of the series. I cannot stress enough that it is a must read! READ it!!! You will be glad you did!!!!
After being left hanging, we FINALLY get Jaden's story and it certainly does not disappoint. This story is intense and I'm not sure how this is possible but these stories just keep getting better and better!
Jaden and Skye are struggling to heal after being forced to mate under horrific circumstances. Despite how his wolf feels, Jaden fights their connection. Skye is an incredibly strong "kitten" who would do anything to protect her family. The sparks flew off the pages between these two as they struggle to come to terms with the situation they were forced into.
There were so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. This was an excellent addition to the series!
Jaden is having a difficult time adjusting to having a mate he didn’t choose to bond with. Can he work through his issue before he loses Skye for good?
This love story had many ups and downs. Skye and Jaden had a ton of things to work through and their journey was amazing. Seeing the sacrifices each was willing to make for each other made me fall in love with the couple.
The twists and turns in the book made it fast paced and unpredictable which always hooks me. The world that the author has built keeps growing and giving the readers more to look forward to. I’m hopeful for more books in the series.
I love Jaden and I also think he is a bit of a jerk. He is totally afforded that demeanor after what has happened. It's funny how the brain 'helps you' in situations such as these. Skye is an interesting addition to the shifter mix. I like her and her ability to power through the circumstances. The storyline here is really good and i enjoy the treks away from the compound and interactions with other packs or people. Really looking forward to the next installment and seeing where it leads the pack!
Can’t get enough of the midnight pack shifters. Just when I thought the next story couldn’t be as dark and twisty, and of course it couldn’t be any hotter!BAM!!L.Ann surpasses herself and let’s us into her wonderful imagination. The only thing that could possibly be better than Fury is Asher’s story to be next.😜 So do yourself the honor not to lose out of reading this dark, twisty, steamy story of Midnight Fury!
Like every other reader, I was excited to see where Jaden's story would take us after the events in Midnight Hunt. I don't want to do the spoiler thing, so I'll just say L. Ann weaves her twisty magic as expertly as ever and leaves us unable to put this book down. You should definitely pick up this series!
I thought Shaun was my favorite. Then I thought Deacon was my favorite. THEN I thought Mac was my favorite...then I met Jaden. Well, met him as the latest main character. Now I just have a harem of alpha wolves and I can't decide which is my favorite. The next book will probably have my favorite too. They just keep getting better.
This book was so much more than what I expected and everything I needed! Jaden, my beautifully broken, hurt, angry, untrusting, a$$hole. Skye, my sweet, caring, broken, and understanding kitten with claws. These two… ****** Overall Rating: 5, want to wrap Jaden up in a hug, stars Kindle Unlimited: Yes Standalone: Ehh, you will miss out on a great deal if you don't read the series. However, this is about a particular couple, though there are underlying story arc's in the book. Steam: 3 fiery shifter flames ****** The end of Midnight Hunt tore me up and honestly after seeing what L. Ann will do to her characters, I was scared when I got this book. She has no qualms pulling you out of your comfort zone, shoving you into a feelings box and then leaving you there while I am sure she snickers. She’s kind of evil like that. Anyway, Midnight Hunt had the cliffhanger from he!! and I have been anxiously waiting to see what would come of Jaden and Skye.
Jaden was so, so, so angry. However, based on what happened to him, if he hadn’t been there would have been something wrong. Ms. Ann took a very sensitive topic and flipped it to the male perspective, something I had never seen in a book before, and then she gave him REAL feelings! No instant healing, she gave us emotions, anger, betrayal, and so much more. Have mercy, my heart was breaking while my mind just got mad. Jaden has a long way to go in this book and his journey is not easy.
Skye has been hurt, manipulated, and has her entire family relying on her. She has to make some tough decisions in order to keep herself alive. One tough decision had to do with Jaden and the interactions from Midnight Hunt. In Midnight Fury, you get to experience things from both perspectives and watch as both Jaden and Skye realize they are both the victim, abuser, and healer. Damn, the feels. Let me tell you there are so many parts of this book that just touched me in one way or another I don’t even know where to begin without spoiling, so I just won’t spoil. The characters in this pack have been through so much and as much as I want them all to get a happy ending, if that happens the books stop, and I don’t want the books to stop…ever! This book has an amazingly suspenseful story, revenge, hate, and healing. It was just amazing!
Please know this book/series has topics that are potential triggers for some, loss, rape, addiction, abuse, and more. If this is not something you are comfortable with, then just skip it, but if you are comfortable…you need to start this series because it is a masterful series of books that will break you, heal you, and leave you wanting more! I love this entire series, I love these characters, and this author has quickly fallen into my top 5 list. I don’t recommend reading this book without the others because there are underlying arc’s that you will miss out on.
This book and series gets all my recommendations and I will definitely keep reading!
I loved the interactions between the pack, especially the brothers. Also, the the book and hot sex scenes. The idea of a collector was interesting and new. Definitely will read the next book.
3/5 - This was an angsty all the way to hell book. It was lack-luster.
Jaden and Skye, I don’t buy, at all. They didn’t want each other beyond a forced bond. I don’t care what Jaden thinks or his Pack thinks about he initiating the mating bond. He was drugged, she was drugged and threatened with the death of her family members. This relationship began with rape. It festered with guilt. And ended with a wolf impulse.
The whole book was an angst fest. The whole book was a lot of “Skye, you need to rest.” She bangs her head on the bath tub... you should rest, shifters heal faster while asleep. She’s at some mental hospital drugged to sleep. She is rescued, time to rest. Each doctor and Pack member, including Jade: YoU nEeD tO rEsT!
By the end of the book everything is wrapped up in a messy bow. It’s an HFN. Which I’m fine with. This relationship is not romantic or sexy. It’s forced and sad.
Feel me. I’m not one of those romance readers that needs the damn HEA. But what I do need is a couple I can cheer for, Jaden and Skye are not that couple.
DEACON and GEMMA are a couple I LOVE! Even their few scenes together are loving, snarky, and hot — and we didn’t even see sex between them. They just have chemistry that jumps off the page. Their few scenes overshadow anything remotely “emotional” between the ship of the book.
Will I read the next book? Hell yes. Because I like this world. I love all the characters, besides Skye. Jaden on his own is great even in his damaged state.
FYI:
Violence. Flashbacks to rape (not explicit like book 3.5). PTSD, forced captivity.
Manual, oral, and penetrative — all vague occurrences. I will say it’s appropriate for the circumstances but saying that, at the end they were seemingly into each other so it warranted more than saying “I’m going to fuck you until you can’t remember your name.” Show me!
I knew Jaden would screw this up! I get that he was angry, he felt helpless and emasculated - It is easier sometimes to have something or someone, in this case, to blame instead of facing the emotional pain head-on.
Before I go further - if you are new to the series these are not standalone. The series is a compilation of running episodes that highlight specific couples and events.
Anyway back to Jaden - Thank goodness for Cormac and if you can believe it Deacon 😳 (I know I couldn't believe it either ) for forcing Jaden to step back and see the truth. To help him acknowledge what happened and that how he was feeling was okay. It is not easy facing traumatic events but Jaden wasn't alone the pack was there for him even when he didn't want to acknowledge it.
Skye, such a heart. She actually tried to protect Mr. "Its all your fault" - even when he treated her like she was lower than the dirt on his shoes. I might be a bit mad at him for his behavior or a lot mad really. She sacrificed everything for the safety and sanity of others sometimes without thinking the plan through (a bit of the plot there). She also has an unhealthy habit of redirecting the blame onto herself instead of letting it fall where it should. I do admire her emotional strength though she never truly faltered in her beliefs.
I am not going to rehash the blurb or spoil all the wonderfully delicious moments that make this a Five Paw series. I will, however, suggest you grab some popcorn - there is a lot of back and forth and "you go girl" moments. Settle into your favorite reading spot and enjoy some quality time with the Midnight Pack.
