IT BEGINS WITH A BREAK.

Today is the biggest day of Cole Ristler’s life. He’s about to join his wife and unborn child in retirement, an event he didn’t think would ever happen. It’s a cause for celebration, and all that’s left is the ride home.

Unfortunately for Cole, the world has other plans.

When an unknown phenomenon strikes the planet, man becomes its own worst enemy, transforming into rabid crazies that strike out at the nearest victim, seemingly driven by a single urge: Kill. Cole and a handful of individuals were left mysteriously unaffected. They don’t know why, but more importantly, they don’t care—because right now, it’s all about staying alive.

The city streets run red with blood as those infected by the mysterious plague seek out more victims, forcing Cole to reawaken dormant skills from a past life in order to get through the day.

Then he has to do it all over again the day after that…and the one after that…

Cole only knows one thing: He will get home to his wife and unborn child, and God help anyone that stands in his way.

Book 1 in the Fall of Man saga, a new take on post-apocalyptic horror. Are you ready? Don’t be so sure.

Sooo... I loved the Purge series and the spin off purge series so far. But not sure I like this one as much. I found the "voice" very annoying and not necessary. It didn't add anything to the story. I was left wondering a few things so I will probably read the next one and see where it goes.

Another winner

What makes these books so good is that the author gets us inside the head of the main character and that's when we find out other people think funny and strange things from time to time. His dialog always flows and his action always has just enough violence and gore to satisfy the horror fans while not getting ridiculous and keeping it a bit more real for those of us who know that every injury does not result in gushers of blood and guts. Its another end of the world zombie apocalypse with quite the interesting twist on the "zombies"...not sure we can call them that...Enjoy the book!

Stupid story line.

It wasnt a bad story premiss, but the main character, dialog, and action sequences were ridiculous.
A typical dialog interspersed throughout the story ad nauseum, was "what do you think happened?" answered from every character asked, "I don't know".
The final scene, a news chopper pilot, just tooling around looking for survivor's, after not seeing a single one for 2 or 3 days, spots Cole on a rooftop, lands, and accompanies the group into the building for a lunchable snack, where we have the same witty diolgue "what do yo think happen? I dont know" among the characters, and suddenly, the pilot, with absolutly nothing to do and an endless supply of fuel, suddenly decides he needs to be talked into giving the survivor group a 20 mile ride to their destination. While they're all unconcernedy sharing a lunchables snack together, as the crazies rush to attack their position.

Had some good. Definitely different than the other apocalypse books

The book had a lot of good qualities to it. I think my one biggest issue, was with the heroines such callous thoughts of for other people's safe being and lives. I understand self preservation but to make these characters more appealing to your audience and more caring given their obvious qualifications in combat. I wanted to give this book at 5 but I just couldn't bring myself because of the callousness it was almost in their minds they already had the person killed off to save themselves again I understand self-preservation but I really think that you could have done a better job of softening them or even having them attempt to save someone.

It started on the east coast. New York aired about a man driving into a crowd and killing dozens. Then more killings and more crazies.

It apparently swept across the nation in minutes, people going crazy and tearing each other apart. Cole left his office heading home to his very pregnant wife. He didn't make it. People were running the streets attacking and killing everyone they saw. Cole fought his way through, trying to get home. Naturally, he had to rescue people on the way and he couldn't just leave them.

The journey begins. Without knowing what or why, they stick together for safety. They stay together because of Cole. He inspired their trust and confidence. Let's see if that's enough. Good storyline. Great characters. Great read!

“The Voice” ruined it. Too much.

Cool idea, and Sisavath’s previous books have been amazing and fun, but the inner dialogue started being used too much and now it’s overwhelming.

I had to train myself to browse over the italics, which is just asinine, and I realized half way through the book that I couldn’t do it.

“The Voice” is the main character’s alternate self that he started hearing after he killed his first enemy on the battlefield. It went away after leaving the service, but the t comes back and really disrupts everything. I won’t be continuing with this series to author.

New take on Zombies???

Have not gotten far enough along in the new series to know how the "zombies" came into being.... but they can be killed just not easily. Oh yeah, also they are very fast, agile, and smart but do not work or play well together. Join our hero as he tries to battle his way out of the bloodbath the city has become and get to his pregnant wife in the country... and as he picks up other lost and struggling folks along the way! Another outstanding start on a new series by one of my favorite authors!

Just horrible. Non-stop blah blah Emily this, Emily that, and that "voice" constantly inserted... He even argues with it, telling it to shut up and cussing at it... No thanks. I closed this terrible book after a 747 (how would he know it was a 747 racing towards the ground?) fell out of the sky close to where they were hidin' like biden in a basement and it was just no big deal. I really do find myself wishing these Kindle authors spent at least a little time researching that which they write about. Oh, and the Audible version is even worse. One star is being generous.

Another exciting, scary world from Sam. But not without its flaws.

If you are a fan of the Purge of Babylon series, you'll be a fan of those new apocalyptic world. However, the one thing I really dislike and found distracting was the protagonists alter ego, "the voice." I don't know why it's necessary. Seems like a literary experiment. But it ruins a lot of the story for me at times. I find myself almost skipping over the parts where he's talking to himself.

Good story. Good world building. Good characters. Bad literary experiment with "the voice."

Too much repetitive dialogue

This whole story could have been written in about 50 pages. The main character is very shallow and unlikable. Throughout the book, he talks to himself inside his head, repeating things back and forth to himself over and over until you want to scream for him to SHUT UP. He also does this in conversation with others, asking the same question and getting the same answer 3 or 4 times. It served no purpose in the story and ruined the few decent elements it contained.

Nonstop!

Mayhem. Sums it up. Great book. Lots of action. I recommend that you read it. I took a star off the rating because of something that bothered me. Non spoiler. A lot of reference is made to a van that is in the story and how it is big and tough and has large tires. The model the author refers to is anything but big or tough. Thus did not alter the story at all just kinda bugged me. I still really enjoyed the book!

Not like the Babylon series.

I’m a huge fan of the road to Babylon series... which had me hooked from the very beginning. So I was very excited to hear there was a new series that had a similar genre. I expected this series to be quite the page turner but was disappointed with my expectations. This one did not keep me on the edge of my seat. It lagged at times and when it ended it felt as if I read a partial book.

The key point of the story is a guy trying to get home during a catastrophe. Still a fairly original theme. I think being asleep was the key to not being a "Crazy", hopefully explained in better detail in the next book. The "Voice" heard thru out the novel did get a little repetitive and annoying, I get the point. TO get home to Emily and Bear Lake. But still an enjoyable start to a new series for this author.

Good!

Action packed page turner.

The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of the inner monologue (the Voice) of the main protagonist, Cole, as it can be slightly disturbing sometimes.

But don't mind it, as the next book is excellent and goes in another direction that is not simply a continuation of the same « run and kill » as it is set in a confined environment and it adds a claustrophobic tension for the new arc of this great story.

Good lead-in book.

This was a good book 1 for what I assume from Mr. Sisavath's last series, will be a non-stop ride. I didn't get that grab you and not let go feeling that I did with "The Purge of Babylon" . Guess I just miss Will & Danny 's running banter. Cole is a good main character with much possibilities. Looking forward to book #2.

Another amazing new world by Sam Sisavath. What do you would when the behavior of those around you changed in an instant? Will you have the knowledge and fortitude to make it through the journey back to your family? The first book in the series introduces the reader to a fresh main character and how he manages when thrust into a completely different environment with those of unknown dangers.

No zombies...

Not surprisingly, this author has begun a new interesting series. No zombies, just crazies. Or that's what they are being called.
Don't know what's happened yet but Cole is trying to reach home where his wife Emily is supposedly waiting for him. He also picks up survivors on his way.
Will they all make it? Can't wait to find out! 😁

A great start to what should be a wonderful series.

Different from most zombie like novels. Was surprised that Cole was able to save so many. The only thing that I didn't like was that amount of time spent with Cole talking back and forth with the voice in his head. Looking forward to Book 2 in the series.

Sam Sisavath has done it again with a new series. Poor Cole only wants to get home to his wife...he never dreams what a nightmare that will turn into. Follow Cole's journey, meet his new companions and watch out for Crazies. Great read

Can I get one of those Voices?

One of the things I most admire about Sam's work is his ability to create characters that you care about. He's done it again! Can not wait for Book 2!

Semi believable story which is stretched a bit thin by the lAck of any kind of diagnosis for the problem. His first series about vampires at least had a reason. The second book won't be out till next year. Not fait. But the writing is fast and fun, action every page. I definitely will read #2.

The Voice????

I only gave this book 2 🌟's. I normally give Sisavaths books 5 stars but this is not up to his usually high standards. An in-depth review would also spoil it so I hope his fans enjoy this book more than I did

He did it again

Great story over all. It’s exactly what I’ve e come to expect from Sam. I’d have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for that annoying, could absolutely do with out, extra character, the voice. It’s so annoying, I skip it altogether. Blech

Bloody Eyes

This book started off super slow! However, once Cole hooked up with some survivors, it was off to the race. The pace is slow/fast, detailed and brutal. Seems like the home stretch, but I have a feeling Cole and crew are going to be neck deep in crazies!

Good , exciting read!

Great read for young adults. I know I would have enjoyed it even more in my teen years. (15 and up.)
99% gramatically correct.Action was mostly fast paced and fun. Didn't feel like I was wasting my time, as with many apocalypse oriented novels.

Crazy

Fast paced, non stop action. I like that the Cole isn’t a know it all. He said “I don’t know” plenty of times. Also liked that the ladies weren’t hysterical & annoying. Loved the gory bits as well. Looking forward to devouring the rest of this series.

Been searching for months for a good zombie oil to read. (Since my favorite authors can only write so fast) And finally found one ☝ that was worth my time. Thank you
