“It’s been a long time since a woman tempted me the way you do,” he whispers. His breath is hot against my face.
“What happened last time?” I asked, scared of what his answer might be.
“I gave away everything.”
“Would you give me everything?” Do I want everything from him? My heart and body say yes, but my head says no way in hell.
He chuckles. “No, but I might give you one wish.”
“Send me home.”
His face falls for a second, but he recovers quickly. “I’m already working on that. But you do realize that everything has a price. Even home.”
“What’s the price?” I ask.
He drops his lips closer to mine. “Perhaps a kiss, perhaps more.” He presses his body against mine, and a thrill races up my spine. He doesn’t realize I’d give him the kiss no matter what. Never mind that he already promised to send me home with no talk of prices.
The fires go out, and I drop my ropes, but I don’t move away from him. His eyes bore into mine, and his lips are a breath away. My body shivers. I’m ready for this.

Mom sent me all the way across the country to the Louisiana bayou to join the circus and help my uncle for the summer. Except there is something not quite right on this swampy cursed island, and after having my fortune told, I can’t leave.
I try to escape, but Benny, an all too charming ghost gangster tries to kill me by feeding me to a tiger. Thankfully I’m rescued by Samuel, the incredibly hot ringmaster who can’t be a day over twenty. Can he?
In addition to avoiding the human scorpion, staying away from the big cats, and having trouble figuring out who’s dead and who’s alive, I have to find a way to escape this horror show. Will I get out of the circus alive or will I join their army of ghosts and become a murderer myself?
Fans of Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, Bianca Scardoni and Laura Thalassa will devouor this tale. If you loved Anna Dressed in Blood or the Night Circus, you'll adore Circus of the Dead. This is a four book collection. Included in this set are the following books: Circus of the Dead Book 1 Circus of the Dead Book 2 Circus of the Dead Book 3 Circus of the Dead Book 4
Kimberly Loth can’t decide where she wants to settle down. She’s lived in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Utah, California, Oregon, and South Carolina. She finally decided to make the leap and leave the U.S. behind for a few years. Currently, she lives in Cairo, Egypt with her husband and two kids.
She is a high school math teacher by day (please don’t hold that against her) and YA author by night. She loves romantic movies, chocolate, roses, and crazy adventures. Kissed is her first novel.
This series is not what you think it is. Yes, it's paranormal, with voodoo, spells, witches, zombies, ghosts, and an island full of trapped people. That should be super creepy scary, but it's not. It's really quite funny, and sweet at times (in between all the magical wars).
I kind of equate this series to a paranormal Nancy Drew mystery. Lot's of things happen in rapid fire sequence. And just when you think it's all done, no, another piece of this enormous puzzle shows itself. The cast of characters are unique with their own backstories, and they all fit into the grand scheme of the island. And let's not forget we have a villian to this story (not going to give that surprise away) who tries to stop our Heroine from everything she tries to do.
So don't go into this series expecting a horror/scary/spooky story. It's not truly that, it's a story of good versus evil with a 16 year old Heroine who goes up against alot of paranormal things to accomplish her goals (not revealing that secret either)
So give this a try, go in with a blank mind and just enjoy the ride. I don't think you'll be disappointed. This series is on Kindle Unlimited at time of review.
Kimberly Loth is one of my favorite go-to authors because I know that whatever she writes, I will be thoroughly entertained! Even if the genre isn't my usual fare, her writing is amazing, her world-building is great, and her characters really come alive. Callie is a true 16 year old California girl, loving the life of surfing and hanging out at the beach. However, her plans for the summer are changed when her Mother sends her to help out her Uncle Luke in his Circus on an island in Louisiana. When Callie arrives, she finds that this circus is unlike any other she has ever encountered. She soon begins to wonder about her sanity when she sees dilapidated tents come to life during the new moon and people seem to die every time the circus is open to guests. Then, one boy she meets tries to kill her and she is told that he is a ghost. Things get even stranger when Callie visits a fortune teller and learns that she can never leave the island because of the cards that are drawn. This book was very unique with vampires, ghosts, zombies, voodoo, and all the "normal" circus creepiness like clowns and side shows. Callie is a typical teenager and it takes her a long time to begin to accept the fact that some of the supernatural things she is encountering are actually real. I loved the details in the writing in the descriptions of the area and the people. I felt like I was seeing them through Callie's eyes. Add in a little love interest in the devastatingly handsome (but also creepy) Samuel, who appears to be an 18 year old boy, but might be much, much more. "All the people I love end up dead." This seems to be the mantra for Callie as her story continues to unfold in this wonderful series! What's not to love when you have a Circus where someone is killed every month, zombies inhabit the swamps along with the alligators and snakes, and ghosts come back to life every time the Circus opens? Without giving away too much of the plot, Ms. Loth has managed once again to rip out her reader's hearts and throw them against the wall in this series. Be prepared to have a couple of good cries as you read this one! Kimberly Loth has created a unique world and cast of characters and when some of these characters die (or do they?), the reader feels like they have lost a friend. The worst part about reading the last in a series is not being able to interact with the characters anymore. This series is geared at the YA crowd, but don't let that fool you. There is plenty of magic, voodoo, zombies, witches, villains, romance and tension in this series. The ending was perfect and I loved the twist at the end that opens up the possibilities of more books set in this world. The narrator, Sarah Puckett, does a great job and adds a lot to an already wonderful series I was given the chance to listen to this book by the author and chose to review it.
I'm a fan of Kim Loth's work, but I have mixed feelings about this series. While I mostly enjoyed it, there were some aspects of it that left me feeling fairly unsatisfied. Don't get me wrong; it was, as always, very well-written with realistic dialogue, extremely imaginative and fairly fast-paced, but there were a few plot-holes, and I also didn't feel that any of the characters (although especially Callie, the MC) had much depth. Despite constantly agonizing over her decisions and actions, most of them had seemingly unforeseen or just plain forgotten implications and effects that always ended up causing those around her abject pain or loss. She was also forgiven extremely easily for the consequences of her actions, which just didn't ring true and left me feeling a bit frustrated. I'm glad I got the complete series in one KU loan as, although a little curious as to how it would turn out, I didn't feel invested enough in Callie or her situation to have sought out the other books to find out. That being said, if you enjoy paranormal romance YA reads in general, you'll probably enjoy this and, as it's on KU, you have nothing to lose by giving it a try!
Currently 20 minutes from the ending on audible 😬 I haven't been this frustrated by a FMC in a long time! I get it, she's young, but as this is almost the end her character arc is extremely disappointing! She's infuriatingly naive and makes the stupidest decisions over and over without even contemplating the consequences which literally affects everyone around her! It's repeatedly stated that she's more powerful than the main villain but it's never once been proven true. She has many powers but we see very few. I'm also greatly disappointed that we don't get more time with Reckon 😕 The relationship progression between her and Benny is odd, the emphasis on Samuel's role, and then how that ended was weird, everything with Lorena is hurried and strange smh With all the hype, it just wasn't for me. I truly struggled to get through it and many times almost DNF!
You know how you'll start a series and just adore the author and then they do something and you're like... Seriously?! Kimberly did that to me this book and I thank her for it. It was a absolute crazy, but perfect way to end this series. I fell in love with this series after the first chapter of book one. I immediately got hooked to the main character Calliope and her story as it unfolded. There was twists and turns, intense and suspenseful, happy and sad moments. It was a addictive thrilling read. I enjoyed every page and couldn't wait to turn the page and find out what happens next.
This is a captivating four book series set in a unique circus world full of vampires, ghosts, zombies, voodoo, and various very creepy circus side shows. These books will have you on the edge of your seat as you are pulled you into the nightmare that is the Circus of the dead. Things are not as they seem in this story, it has lots of twists, suspense, betrayals, action, horror, magic and love. The narration is excellent. She suits the books well and really brings the characters to life. This is a thrilling enjoyable set that will keep you guessing what will come next.
I love these books. However, I don't like the way the 4th book ends. I'm glad things 'continue', however it doesn't go into detail of what actually happened. I've read book 5, 6, and currently reading number 7. Juliette seems like an entirely different person. In the books she's always aloof and never serious, constantly on the go ignoring the important stuff. Now suddenly she's pissed at how things was on the island, afraid of, yet wants Samuel. Constantly wanting to save this or that and take out the bad guys.
I feel like we missed an entire book.

This was so much better than I thought it would be after reading the blurb. I read the whole series in under two days. I was completely under the spell of the circus of the dead and loved every second. Magic, voodoo ghosts, zombies and vampires are just a fraction of things to look forward to. Loved Callie the main character and her personality and loved how she started off a little naive but become a force to be reckoned with.
I was fully invested in this series. Interesting storyline and only slightly predictable. Just enough to keep you reading and wanting to know if you’re right. The romance aspect is PG-13 at best and ties into the story, but the story doesn’t rely on it, if that makes sense. I still loved the series without any sex scenes, and this saying something cause I’m all about the RH’s.
Wow, just wow! This was a fantastic series of books! 😁 I started the first book only 2 days ago and I've literally devoured all 4 books since then. I simply couldn't put them down as I wanted to know what was going to happen next! It's been a very long time since any books captured my attention that much but these did :) I highly recommend people to read them and fight out for themselves all about Callie and the Cirque Du Mort :)
This series is full of intense and surprising twists. There is a whole lot of emotion regarding the characters. Some you love right away, others you bounce between loathing and love. This series takes you on a roller coaster ride along with Callie and her friends. Who is behind the manipulation of the island’s inhabitants? You must read to find out…only then can you appreciate the whole story! I truly loved reading this.
Things are not as they seem in this series and to beat evil sometimes you may have to turn a bit dark. But can you come away from it in one piece. This has thrills love stories, betrayals, action, horror, and a final conclusion to it all. One great well done series one to bring you hours of delight that keeps you reading and has you guessing what will come next. I highly recommend the series.
So I kept reading hoping that I'd get sucked in and out never happened. The story didn't really improve even if she messed over herself and multiple others everytime she tried to improve things. I feel like the story had potential. I read the first set but I won't continue them.
A dead circus? Is it haunted? Lost? No longer visited? While the circus is open, the skies are dark, the moon and stars show. It's ghostly, ghoulish, the way a Freak Show would be at the traveling carnival. The magic, dark and deadly? How does Callie become involved? And how can she return to the world of the living?
As you can see, this is being sold as "Circus of the Dead: The Complete Series". It is not complete; it actually contains a teaser epilogue that talks about where the s there run is headed in the "next" book. I hate false advertising.
The conclusion of The Circus Of The Dead did not disappoint. Although Callie was still a bit too whiny and needy for my liking, she managed to do what she thought she couldn't. A solid finish with a real twist right at the end. Overall, i enjoyed the series
Nicely spooky, with lots of creepy with a generous dollop of horror. A perfect Halloween book set with plenty of fast paced action and romance, just to make it even more interesting. Loved it.
Original but not actually a boxed set. Different type of story with death, magic, suspense, horror and some romance. Characters are good, story is unique, world building is okay. Could be more but it is what it is. Still a good effort.
One of those sets that I just couldn’t put down. Once I started reading it that’s all I wanted to do. Very action packed with just the right amount of drama…well done
This series was boring to me.the storyline peaked my interested but the story didnt I was waiting for something eventful to happen. The book shouldve been listed For adolescent,it was childish at times, the main character is the only one you remember
This was an excellent read With a new concept that in my years of reading I had not seen yet. Definitely kept me turning the pages through the end. Would highly recommend it.
I binged this series! There were so many twist that came; some you kind of saw coming and some you didn’t. You think you have it all figured out but then BAM!! another twist. Highly recommended
The first half of the series was great. I thought we were getting a morally grey romance, but that all turned around in book two, and it felt really forced for us to be made to hate the ringmaster. And what turned me off was his pedo tendencies towards a 14 year old girl.
I can’t even begin to express how much I love this book. I love the darkness that is in it. The love story that follows it. The twist it keeps you stuck I could not put this book down Kimberly Loth is absolutely amazing for sure
A fun and engaging story, creepy and atmospheric but in an accessible way, perfect for a new to horror reader looking to dip their toe into the genre or for a horror lover in search of a quick and entertaining read … I will definitely be continuing with the rest of the series.
The story was absolutely captivating from beginning to end. I wasn’t even done with them before my daughter was coming behind me reading them. This was books 1-4 all together in one bind. This series has renewed my love of reading!
