Cold September is an eclectic assortment of short stories, collected over a period of several years, from an author described by Publishers Weekly as ‘one of the rising stars of tartan noir.’ Featuring a rich mix of crime, the darkly comic, and the melancholically romantic – from the blisteringly short and brutal The Ringmaster, to the longer form, elegiac beauty of Aged Eight, Alice On The Shore, stopping off at myriad points along the way – Cold September perfectly displays the breadth and vision of Douglas Lindsay’s storytelling.

I have read several books by Douglas Lindsay and this collection of stories is all you might expect, and much more. If it was possible to book a weird holiday, I would love to spend a while exploring what goes on in his head ! Brilliant. Loved them all.
