Rate this book
Critical care specialist, Alex Winthrop MD starts a typical day making rounds in the ICU at Rhode Island General, when he is called to help a patient in cardiac arrest. Alex is puzzled by the dying man’s test results. Soon, a pattern emerges that spurs him on to dig deeper despite resistance from the hospital’s CEO, Ted Beaumont. Beaumont’s only concern is avoiding bad press, but that should be the least of his worries.
In the midst of his investigation, personal tragedy strikes, catapulting Alex into a lonely downward spiral where addiction and an unlikely lover fill the void. He is jolted back into focus by a second overwhelming loss. With no job to return to, he devotes himself to finding an explanation for the mounting patient deaths.
Olivia Nillson PhD, a renowned biochemist and cellular toxicologist---knows too much. A phone call from Dr. Winthrop entices her to come forward. She joins him on a corrupted path that leads to an international plot involving a cunning biological weapon. Can they expose the conspiracy in time to save more innocent lives? Will anyone listen?

Great book. Complicated plot with an interesting hero, imperfect and surprising twists.. I really appreciate the way this doesn’t play out in the usual expected way. My only criticism is the ending felt rushed. The entire book spent a lot of time building a complex narrative effectively only to wrap it up a little too quickly for me. I am definitely looking for more by this author!!!

This book had a good concept and was fast enough paced that it earned the 4 stars. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the ending. I won't spoil it for you but I was watching how far I was into the book and the ending came up so fast I was shocked. I do think there could have been more to the ending. Solid 4 star book. If you like Medical Thrillers, this book could be for you.

Unreadable

It seems that this author bit off more than they could chew. I really tried to get settled in but there was no continuity that I could follow. Trying to keep two and three storylines going proved too much. This has a follow up book to it but I'm just going to have to pass.

A very good drama.

The story had me from the beginning. I could not put the book down and I read until I could not hold my eyes open. It was very well written and kept your attention until the last line. I enjoy medical stories and this is one of the best.

Terrific Medical Thriller

Believable story with a (somewhat) believable plot. Let's hope the author continues writing! I highly recommend this work for anyone interested in medical suspense or thrillers.

Interesting

I found this book tedious at times. Parts were long and boring while other parts moved along with fast paced action. I am a big fan of medical thrillers but this one felt like an espionage book.

Good enough that I will read the sequel 🙂 Had a few annoying parts and some cringe worthy jokes interjected by the author, but it was entertaining and I enjoyed the medical aspect and the hospital setting. Would have preferred less explicit material.

Loved it....

From the first page, I was hooked. It is a page turner for sure. I read God Dust first by accident, which led me to this book. I'm looking forward to reading the next in this series.

Loved it!

This is a fast paced medical mystery with numerous unexpected turns. Dr. Kane did an excellent job with this book and I can’t wait until he publishes again.

Murder, medicine, and mayhem

This book has it all murder, medicine, and mayhem. Great example of good people doing bad things and redemption. Then there is love & romance ...

Did not care for Broken Cure. Believe too many story lines with several plots that were unrealistic. Wonder if a male reader would agree.
