January 19, 2022This set is difficult for me to review because I sort of liked the first one, hated the second, and did like the third. Below is a brief summary of what I said in my original reviews:
First Book: This is a fantasy for anyone (i.e. most of us) who has ever longed to escape -- just for a little while -- from our routinized, somewhat boring domestic lives. The problem, however, is that Sophie has children; therefore, as a responsible mother, she isn't really free to indulge in her play with Jared -- what becomes the "real-life" version of her erotic dreams -- for long. This is a seemingly insurmountable conflict and created a lot of tension; thus, I was invested in seeing how Ms. Brandon would resolve it without leaving us, quite frankly, hating Sophie -- particularly if we want to see Sophie and Jared together. The erotic scenes are well-written; the interior monologues and situation create real emotional dilemmas within the characters; and Jared does at least give Sophie a modicum of choice at the outset.
Second Book: I would have given this series a higher rating if it weren't for this one. This was simply torture-porn (so cruel rather than erotic); Jared had no redeeming qualities; and it challenged credibility that Sophie wasn't more concerned for her children.
Third Book: It's hard to talk about this one without giving any spoilers, I'll simply say that while the ending will not appeal to many, it did to me. I appreciated that Sophie finally grew a backbone.
3 stars. I went back and forth on my rating for this one, but two things kept me from rating it more highly. First, this was very repetitive and did not need to be stretched out (and I emphasize stretched) over the course of three volumes. And, second, I was always more interested in seeing how Ms. Brandon resolved the central conundrum than particularly caring whether Sophie stayed with Jared. Jared was at first too cold for me, then too pathological, and finally too childish. I never saw his appeal, and that's crucial in dark erotica. That said, I sort of liked the series' underlying theme -- which is pretty much that our lives of quiet desperation are alleviated only by our fantasies.

Wow & WTH!
I thoroughly liked this book, but most of all I really liked the ending.

Throughout the book I did find myself annoyed with Sophie's decisions, like girl grow a damn backbone but Jared was something else. I couldn't decide whether to punch him hard in the face or to secretly want him like Sophie lol🙃 But this wasn't a relationship that was meant to last and it was never going to. I don't think it would have ever been possible for Sophie to have some semblance of a normal or semi normal life with Jared because he was just too controlling and selfish. So I'm increasingly happy that Sophie was able to find her own independence away from him.
Oh, I'm also starting to see that the first attempt is never fully successful so I'll be looking for the next two or three times. If you read the book then you understand what I mean.
Definitely a recommended read!

This set is going to blow your mind! I don't know the last time I read a story that had me gasping out loud and questioning my own sanity the way this one did. It's crazy intense, has more twists than I could count, and went places I never thought possible. If you are into dark and daddy books then this one should be at the top of your must read list. It's seriously the most mind-messing story I have read in a long time and I can't stop thinking about it, and that's saying something because most of Ms. Brandon's books have that effect on me. Her writing is superb, her characters are perfectly flawed, and no one writes a bad boy you can't help but become fascinated with the way she does. You don't want to miss out on this on, I promise.

This series is really good but be prepared, it's dark and it's definitely psychological! These books brought out all the emotions but you should read them and see for yourself. Sophie may seem meek and mild but you'll find out she's really not. And if I'm honest, I still have mixed feelings about jared! LOL All in all, if you loved Ms. Brandon's Dark Necessities trilogies, you will love this trilogy also!!!

If dark is your thing, buckle up baby and enjoy the wild ride involving Jared and Sophie. Warning...you may need a flashlight to find your way out but this is what I’ve come to expect from Ms Brandon! You’ll find yourself rooting for Sophie and wanting to strangle Jared and wondering just how crazy things can get.

What a dark, twisted whirlwind!
Incredible! This was truly a fascinating and depraved read! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! This was my first experience reading Felicity Brandon and I’m thoroughly impressed. I very much look forward to reading more of her work. Bravo!

Dark daddy series was just okay for me if you're into Daddy ageplay and this book is for you it was nothing but torture non-consent dominating daddy treating a woman as a child kidnapping her from her home her husband her children because they started chatting online because she was curious with BDSM that's how it started and then it just got dark so if you're in the dark this book is for you

Jared is so dark, so hot
I think I need to go online...
I'm not particularly into Daddys but after reading the prequel I had to know what happened. The lengths Jared goes to is awe-inspiring and his darkness is incrediblely powerful, even aside from his Daddy needs.
The only reason it loses a star is coz of the pc ending. A man like Jared would never just walk away

Omg!
Omg, omg! So great , flawless. I was absolutely shocked and blown away. This is the 1st book I've ever read like this so dark and twisted. But I couldn't stop reading, I was hooked.

This is the best way to read these books. Get comfortable and start reading you will find yourself drawn into the story. Sophie wanted some sexual excitement that her husband didn’t provide so went on line to try and find someone just to talk to The only problem Jared took it further by turning up at her house and kidnapping her. With this box set you just keep reading and reading without a break can’t wait to see if there is a follow up. I received an ARC for an honest review which I have given

She got what she wished for, but it was more twisted than she wanted. Watch out for triggers, but it’s a good story.
