Book 4 in this exciting new world. If you like dragons and egotistical, super-sexy demigods, then this is the series for you.
I never knew how much I relied on my power until it was gone. Stolen from me. I made a stupid mistake. I spent the night with a woman who was a stranger to me. One-night stands are generally not my thing. I am sure she was the one who took what was mine. My power. There is no other logical explanation. Now I can’t find her. Every lead goes up in smoke. It’s like she never existed. I am on the verge of giving up when a stranger approaches me. She claims to know where the mystery woman is.
My name is Morgan. We know about them. About the creatures among us posing as humans. Some are good. Most need exterminating. I run into Dr. Lyre Jennings while on the trail of one such creature. One thing I know for sure is that he isn’t human. I have no idea what he is. Not yet. My mission is to find out…and to take decisive action if required. Lyre is a heart surgeon. All of his intentions seem honorable. On paper, he’s perfect – right down to his brooding good looks. I know from experience that looks can be deceiving. I need to ignore my growing attraction to him so that I can get to the bottom of this whole situation. My best friend's life is on the line.
No cheating! Contains hot alpha males and therefore strong sexual themes/language.

My review :
Will her distrust to any supernatural come between them ...
Oh it has been a while since I have read a Charlene Hartnady’s book, and it definitely was a mistake. Even if this book is the fourth in this series, I never was lost but only left with regret to having missed the three previous installments, I let life passes by, well mostly ARCs having precedence on some books from my own favorite authors. Why I am happy to having jumped on this advance copy opportunity. I just loved this new setting for Mrs Hartnady’s paranormal beings. Plenty of new creatures and a story set outside a shifter/vampire weyr/land/coven. Morgan is one hell of a woman, she knows where she goes and follows only her own rules. Lyre is just so sweet, despite his parentage, he is the kindest of men, a healer in the soul. Why them meeting is like mixing fire and ice, yet they create sparks and after catching the bad guy, their biggest challenge is arriving to trust the other. After a game of hide and seek and mouse and cat, when finally together, they play hot and cold as Morgan is afraid to let go and Lyre wants to trust his guts but the walls she has built around herself come between them.
This is definitely a 5 stars read filled with action, steam and emotions.
I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
🔹ARC kindly provided from the author for an honest review🔹
So I kinda just jumped into this, since I suck as a reader and haven’t caught up with Hartnady’s new series. (Totally working on correcting that). 😂
Compared to Hartnady’s usually lighthearted writing style I found this book to me a lot more complex. To have more back-story. Much more action-packed, and I got so captivated I had to finish in one sitting.
I am so fascinated with the demigod aspect! A Dragon-shifter with a godly parent. In Lyres case his father is Apollo. Each dragon-shifter has a different skill. An unusual power. Lyre can heal, but on one strange night after an encounter with a beautiful woman he seems to lose his power.
Our main squeeze, Morgan, is a fighter. She works for the Order. The order is an organisation that protects non-human from paranormal creatures hellbent on making innocent humans their next meal. #sheiskindacool After a mission gone wrong, Morgan finds Lyre to be the key to getting revenge and even saving her partner.
Action wise this book really stood out. It was fast-paced, a little emotional and sweet. I did enjoy following the characters as well even if I didn’t completely connected with them. Hartnady definitely had me rooting for them, though😂
The thing I loved the must though was the demigod angle. I love when authors get a little creative, and this idea most certainly is.
Read: 09/07/2020 1st rating: 3 stars Genre/tropes: Paranormal/romance/cheesy/dragons Cover: 4 stars -anyone else think he looks like Gyllenhaal? POV’s: Dual -1st person (Lyre & Morgan) Will I recommend: Yes-because dragons🧡
Another great book from charlene and it didn't disappointment. It's fast paced witty and easy to read. I love Lyre and Morgan their perfect together. I hate lilith and I'm so glad Andy is alive I cried for him .
i have come to the conclusion that romance authors do NOT know how to write male characters. they're all the same. maybe some physical characteristics are different, but personality traits!? basically the same vanilla dude. or bad boy with a heart of gold. ugh, it's fucking annoying.
Lord of Life is the fourth delicious book in the The Dragon Demigods series. Sexy Demigod shifters who have sworn to a life alone.
That is until unsuspecting women in need fall on their radar. meet the one and their lives are changed forever. But there are dramas along the way. A fun and angsty journey starts.
While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer.
The characters are fun and loving, but what they discover more than they ever imagined.
Another fantastic book of the Dragon Demigods to read. I absolutely love Lord of Life. It brings the demigods that we have come to love as well as a lot of new characters. Some of those characters are good and the others evil. This book keeps you enthralled in reading and can't put down page-turner. We are introduced to a new group, the Order who's task is to protect humans and kill the non-humans. They are a significant group existing in many countries. Lyre has his powers of saving lives by a woman he meets. He knows her as Gabby. Little does he know that she also goes by Lilith and is a harpy. She has a power of enrapturing men, not so much females, and in the case of the Lyre she steals his power but has very little memory of how it happened. As a top notch surgeon he loses his first patient in surgery and is shattered by it.His brothers must be told so that they don't fall victims of the harpy. They have become targets and Lyre takes it upon himself to stress that they have to be watchful along with the babies. Morgan and her partner Andy are Seekers, members of the Order. Their task is to seek out the non-humans doing harm to human beings. Morgan made a drastic mistake in thinking Lilith was a friend. They are ambushed seeking out the centaurs and her partner Andy is badly hurt that his life is threatened. Morgan sets out to find and destroy Lilith. Lyre and Morgans paths cross. It's not an easy teaming up but they work at it. They make an interesting team together. A relationship grows and they are very hot together. Action-packed, so much unknown, laughter, tears and so much more. These books of the demigods just keep getting better and better. Charlene Hartnady has done great work in bringing new characters of all kinds. Plus still letting you to grow your love of the demigods. Definitely recommend this book as well as the other Dragon Demigod books.
I am volunteering to leave an honest review for an ARC of this book.
Let me start off by saying, I loved this book! As unusual as it is for me to read any series out of order, this was the case with The Dragon Demigods. I read the first book, Lord of Fire right after its release, and then life got busy. Fortunately, I happened to catch the release date for Lord of Life. I'm ready to catch up and get myself back in order. I've read all of Charlene Harnady's books so far and as expected, this one didn't disappoint! Lord of Life reminded me what I've been missing!
Morgan and her partner Andy work with a group that keep watch over non-humans. Some of these creatures are good and they leave them alone, the one's that prey on humans they exterminate. The story begins with Morgan's partner Andy being seriously injured because she put her trust in a non-human, resulting in an ambush that has left Andy in the hospital fighting for his life. Morgan is determined to avenge her partner and bring down Lilith, the Harpy that betrayed her. Lyre has lost his power because of a one night stand with Lilith. Lyre hires a private detective to help him find the missing woman, and the trail leads to Morgan. Once they meet ,it's clear there's a mutual attraction, but not a lot of trust since they're both keeping secrets. Eventually, Morgan and Lyre decide to team up together to track down Lilith, doing everything they can to keep it professional. However, some attractions are just too hard to resist.
Well worth the read! There was plenty of action, dragon hotness, chemistry and suspense. I cannot wait to read Bolts Story in Lord of Rain (The Dragon Demigods Book 5)
I’m really enjoying this series. While you don’t have to read the previous books, it will make this book more enjoyable. Lyre is a bit of a loner, like the rest of the demi-gods. He doesn’t let any one too close. That changes when he meets “Gabby” and ends up taking her home for the evening. It’s definitely out of character for him. He wakes up the next morning with little memory of what happened the night before and to find that his power is gone. He needs to find her so he can get his power back.
Morgan works for a secret agency that monitors shifters and other paranormals. She’s on the trail od Gabby, but she knows her as “Lilith.” Lilith setup Morgan and her partner, who ends up on life support in the hospital fighting for his life. She ends up joining forces with Lyre to track down Lilith. They both want Lyre’s power back, so he can heal her partner, Andy.
This was a fun read. I do like that other characters make appearances in Hartnady’s books. Sometimes I’m not ready to say goodbye to a character, so it’s nice to know that I may see them again, even if just in passing.
Dragon Shifter series. Author threw in a side of “Demi-god” for spice. Book hero’s personalities took on aspects based after their “Greek god” fathers. Can’t say that really added much for me personally.
Book’s 3-5 fall into a single overall story arch. You’ll want to flow one into the next. Not really stand alone.
Book 1. (4⭐️) Forge (Son of Hephaestus. God of fire) & Ava (down on her luck running from crime boss.) Book 2. (3⭐️)Night (Son of Hades. God of Underworld.) & Shannon, tortured soul/ recovering AA. Book 3. (2⭐️) Little Lords - book follows pregnancies of book 1 & 2 couples. Odd read. I found that it lacked a true plot payoff. And the overlap with book 4 threw me. Book 4. (3.5 ⭐️) Lyre (Son of Apollo) Morgan supernatural PI Book 5. (3 ⭐️) Bolt (Son of Zeus) & Ashley Bakery Chef Book 6. (2.5 ⭐️) Jarrod (Son of Janus) and Raven another dragon shifter Book 7. (2.5 ⭐️) Rage (Son of Ares) and Nia a hellhound. Book 8. (2.5 ⭐️) Trident (Son of Poseidon) & Zara restaurant manager
These books have sucked me in. I mean it. I have stayed up til 2am the last two nights reading and as soon as I dropped my son off at daycare this morning I hightailed it straight to my bedroom to start the next book.
They just keep getting better.
I ran into this author last year at some point- i think I read a few of the Mate books about vampires. Gideon i think was one of them? I thought they were good. Quick, easy entertaining reads. Not a whole lot of substance but still decent.
She has clearly just gotten better the more she writes. I have read a few of her other books sporadically- Some of the Bride Hunt series. Some of the Feral series. I started this one night before last and I’m 1/2 way through the 5th book already. Its insane. This is paranormal shifter romance crack and I’m addicted. I’d say “send help” but please. Dont. I’m begging you. Dont send help.😂
This is the 4th book in the Dragon Demigods series & I had read about Lyre in the previous books but he seemed quite serious. Well I was very wrong as he just needed the right woman & he found her in Morgan who is real kick ass so more than able to counter his serious side. Lyre had an encounter with a harpy known to him as Gabby who drains his powers including his ability to shift into Dragon form. Morgan knew the harpy as Lilith who she thought was a friend but she was betrayed by her to the Centaurs. The repartee between Lyre & Moran is particularly good as he really gets her. I have read all the others in the series but really enjoyed this couple plus you get to meet more of the other Dragon Demigods & touch base with previous couples. Another winner for me! I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book & this is my honest review.
This is an exciting story with a few tearful aspects but on the whole it's a pretty upbeat fun tale of searching for a baddie. The other Demigod Dragons are in the story to varying degrees throughout. Unfortunately this story does overlap some of the previous books which is OK but I prefer it not to happen. The Seeker is a other hunter kinda who takes out beings that attack humans. In this story she is deceived and almost gets herself and her partner/best friend killed, in hunting the being who tricked her she meets the Doctor dragon/God who is also looking for the same creature who stole his abilities including healing. They end up falling in love but there are lots of funny moments as she stalks him misses the chance to catch or kill the being a few times. It is a pretty fun story with a few sad moments tossed throughout.
I have just finished reading this book and I absolutely loved it. Without spoiling too much of the plot the first chapter was all a rush of action and quite darker than some of the other books in other series. The underlying plot and the interaction between the characters is great and kept me entertained throughout the book as the story line develops. The whole story was well written and engaging. I enjoyed the interaction of characters from the previous three books but you don't necessarily have to have read them to follow the story line. (Although I do recommend you read them) Totally engaging fantasy and fantastic read which I couldn't put down. I received an advanced copy of the book in return for my honest review.
Lyre's story was one that I was looking forward to and it's as great as I expected it to be. Unlike Night and Bolt who are arrogant and somewhat self-absorbed, Lyre is a doctor and cares about humans. One fleeting moment that he 'gives into' temptation and he finds himself without his powers.
Morgan happens to be in pursuit of the same person who stole his powers and an unusual collaboration is born. This teaming up also leads to the amazing chemistry between the two. Lyre may have lost his power but he's found what he's been missing all his life. And Morgan is forced to rethink everything she knows about non-humans because she finds herself losing her heart to one.

Its hard to trust when you've been let down before.
Morgan works for a group of humans that searches for paranormal beings that hurt other humans. She is on an assignment with her partner when everything falls apart because of bad information. The information came from a woman that she thought was her friend. Lyre has lost his power because of one night with a woman. They soon discover that they are each looking for the same woman. But trust is something that they both are in short supply of. Can these two work together to find her? Or will their secrets keep them apart? Great book! I am excited to read the next book about Bolt.
Really good book lots of action, mystery, syfy, romance and fantasy. Best recipe to make a good book. Loved to see new creatures in here really interesting. I am curious were this series is going to go.
This is the book that has me totally 100% convinced that this is just as good if not better than the normal dragons. It is just so good and got me more excited. I need more soon!!! I am so intrigued with Stephan oh I want to know more of this guy!
Next up bolt I have a love hate relationship with him. Am curious what is going to happen next with him.
Lord of Life: The Dragon Demigods Book 4 By Charlene Hartnady Kindle unlimited purchase Lyre has lost his powers and he knows the one person that can help get them back is Morgan. But he wants more than just her help, he wants her heart too. Morgan is a strong woman she can take care of herself, one I would want in my corner. I enjoyed this book and I have come to care for these Demigods. As of today, this is the last book in this series, there are more Demigods and they need their HEA. Wounder if the twins will be a MFM? The Dragon Demigods: Lord Of Fire Lord of Hell Little Lords Lord of Life
This was an interesting story with all the different twists and turns that it takes. I love how strong Morgan is! She is not helpless and the fact that Lyre finds that attractive is even better! This story has a lot of suspense and story to it. It starts kinda slow but quickly picks up pace!
When Lyre and Morgan finally admit to the attraction that is between them it is explosive and hot! I love that we meet a handful of secondary characters that we know will be getting their own stories! Love that we learn so much more about the world that Charlene has created! I also like that she has left us wondering about what will happen with Bolt! Great story!
I'm really trying. I made it to book 4. The writing is fine, the stories are just blah. There is something missing. I like the story in that they read well, and make sense. Perhaps my big issue is that this is supposed to be paranormal romance with hero being the paranormal. Demigods no less. But with the exception of Forge, they are all weak, childish and nothing great. I would have given a higher rating if it was just about regular folk. Author, do better. I'm done with the series. There was nothing lordish or demigodish about lord of life. Epic disappointment
Morgan is a fighter of supernatural creatures her and her group take down the bad one. Her and her partner have been setup by a harpy. They walk into a trap against centaur and her partner is hurt. So Morgan is hunting down the harpy. Lylre has lost his powers to the same harpy now he is also looking for her to try to get his powers back. That when he starts texting Morgan and then they start working together and soon they are in a relationship. But the harpy wants more so she comes back and that’s when thing get bad. So enjoy this good read and see what happens and if things work out !!
It’s a refreshing change to read about a woman who meets a dragon demigod and doesn’t fall all over herself in lust and foolishness. Instead, Morgan, a professional seeker of other worldly beings, maintains a cool head while dealing with Lyre and the harpy who stole his powers. Lyre and his circle of close friends and fellow dragon demigods are at a loss as to how to retrieve his powers, but Morgan steps in to shadow and protect him hoping to trap the harpy and dispose of her for injuring her partner. It is uncertain til the very end how the story will culminate and whether or not all will survive.
Morgan and her partner are seekers of deadly non humans. Those who corrupt and target humans for there personal gain. Morgan trusts a harpy, Limits into going into an abandoned warehouse. That's where the shit hits the fan. Lyre is a heart surgeon, with a special gift of giving life when it's needed. It's taken from him by Lilith. In order to find her, he teams up with Morgan. The attraction is real, but a job is a job? Right. The build up is wonderful, slow burn. The characters are well described and continues to include others from previous books.
This is a good series for a quick read. I have enjoyed the books so far. The reason I am leaving a comment on this one is because of one thing that didn't sit right with me.
How do they not know about other creatures? I get they stick to dragon kind but they have 0 info on other creatures? Seriously?!? Also the whole all creatures have this pressure point on their necks and they had no clue this existed? They never wrestled or fought with siblings where someone would most likely touched their neck before. In all the years dragons have existed they never knew this? It just didn't make any sense to me.
On Friday I started reading Lord of Fire, coz it popped up as a recommendation on FB. I was quickly sucked into this fantasy world and have just finished Lord of Life having read the series (so far) back to back! Glorious alpha males, badass women worth breaking an oath for and fabulous storylines full of action, adventure, lust and love! I am so looking forward to next month to read Bolt's story in Lord of Rain. Best of all, having never come across Charlene's books before, I find a large back catalogue to add to my TBR list!
Lyre is a dragon demigod whose power is that of healing. Morgan is a Seeker, a member of an organisation that can recognise non-humans at a glance and kills those who prey on humans. These two meet when they are both tracking down a Harpie. Lyre because she stole his powers and Morgan because she betrayed Morgan and her partner, Andy, leaving him fighting for life. Neither wants to like the other but decide that they need to work together. You don’t see much of the dragon shifting powers in this series but they are still very entertaining.
Exceptional read. Excellent continuation of this series. Wonderful characters and incorporation of characters from previous books. The way that Lyre and Morgan interact is intriguing. Lyre seems like such a caring and giving individual with a soothing personality and the perfect foil for Morgan's impulsive and vibrant personality. Can't wait for the next book in this series to come out.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily submitted an honest review.
Wow, what an adventure. Lyre now has his mate although I have to give it to them how this turned out. Morgan is one stubborn person, but in a good way so to speak. I was hoping when the harpy died that Lyre would get his powers back, and it did come back, win, win all the way. But now what's going to happen to poor Bolt he's so not himself, well looking forward to read his story and I know it will be epi ..loved these Demigod...big fan as always Winzie19☺💞.
I loved Lyre and Morgan’s story! It kept me on my toes and very entertained! It was different than Night or Forge’s story, but just as good! I can’t wait for the grumpy jerk, Bolt, to get his story next. It’s time for him to fall in love. I’m really enjoying this series and I’m looking forward to reading all the dragon demigods’ stories to come! Excited for Bolt’s ego to get turned down a notch and for him to see what love is really worth!
