Voices in her head. Sure, that was how Murmur always imagined fully immersive VR. With the getashi’s growing in influence, Fable's race against the clock is thrown into disarray as the dungeons begin to make their own rules. As a last resort, Fable teams up with Spiral and Exodus to speed things up.
But with tensions growing between the groups, it’s a matter of when and not if they’ll be betrayed. Murmur’s team begins to fray as her abilities branch out and start to those around her.
Meanwhile, Laria and Shayla run out of ways to hide Wren’s involvement in the more frequent glitches occurring in-game. It’s all they can do to keep the system stable while James nips at their heels.
Somnia’s awareness expands in unexpected ways. The threats within and without close in, but the true danger may just be in Murmur’s mind.
KT Hanna has a love for words so extreme, a single word can spark entire worlds.
Born in Australia, she met her husband in a computer game, moved to the U.S.A. and went into culture shock. Bonus? Not as many creatures specifically out to kill you.
When she’s not writing, she freelance edits for Chimera Editing, and chases her daughter, husband, corgi, and cat. No, she doesn’t sleep. She is entirely powered by the number 2, caffeine, and beef jerky.
I'm glad I read this book and it has prepped me for the last in the series. However, it didn't hook me and I even wondered if the plot elements could have been worked in elsewhere instead of a stand alone book. However, I am not a writer, I am a code monkey so what do I know.
This book seemed to be battle heavy, but almost like a grind for the sake of the grind. There is an adjustment as different guilds "fuse" together to take on the biggest dungeons that would overwhelm a single guild on their own. Jirald, well ... the wheels seem to be coming off the wagon for him and you can see the endgame setting up before you. James also gets a solid metaphorical kick in the nuts which is fun to watch and leads to a good cliffhanger. Interestingly, I like how James is written as antagonist. I do not like how Jirald is written as an antagonist (whiney/insane), which may be why this book wasn't as interesting to me as a lot of plot was centered around his progression.
Still recommend the book and I'm definitely prepped and ready for the lest and final book to see how this ends.
Even though book 6 wasn't exactly a cliffhanger as we know where the final book is heading it's no less addictive. I seriously wanna know how Murmur, Fable her team, and the whole Somnia Online programming team get outta this. It's a good thing that the AI's and even Somnia herself are on their side they're ready to fight, to stop the long dead hacker and the virus he planted.
"Please enjoy the dungeon we look forward to kicking your ass."
Love this series so much. I feel like I'm actually in Somnia playing alongside the characters. I wish this series was continuing on. This journey has been absolutely extraordinary
If you liked the series so far, you'll love this book. Tension continues to rise in all the major plot threads, and we're edging closer to a final resolution!
