Shadows and Shade

Not your typical romance from book one, say hello to the team of 4 guys who all stick around for the series.
Laugh out loud funny

Slow-burn, the relationship and plot development are given real detail (full canon sexual content by book four)

This is one of the best RH series out there if you're interested in world-building, character development, some great laughs, and a plot that takes its time to give you both quality AND quantity.

Shadows & Shade, Shadow & Darkness, & Kitten & Allure are the first three books in the Shadows & Shade series, a slow-burn fantasy that explores the mischief and life-changing events that happen when Shade, a former servant to a cruel master, is rescued (kidnapped) from her owner by the Elorsins, four warrior brothers who get her involved in their fight to reclaim their right to rule. At the same time, we get into this glorious mystery of who and what Shade really is because, despite appearances, she's not just an ordinary girl.

What I love the best about this series is that it has multiple arcs running at a time, so we're seeing progress in some storylines while others are coming up new, so there's always something being introduced and always something wrapping it. It keeps the stories so fresh, fun, and you can't possibly get bored.

Cashure does a great job of taking some of the tropes that Curse of the Gods and Power of Five fans love- FMC taken in by deadly warriors, FMC with a sassy mouth and a mind of her own, fantasy world with epic battle in store- and makes them completely her own. Lovers of the genre will see those hallmark moments that they love- the kind of awkward first meet, the fumbling to survive in a world more powerful than our leading lady could've known, but they'll see it all through Shade's eyes and quickly come to love her on her own.

There's also some bonus content where Cashure takes some of those slow-burn moments, the ones where the thirsty readers are saying "Just push it a few steps further, pleeeeeaaseeee!" and reimagines those scenes to what they'd be like if she'd created a fast-burn world instead. It's a fun little break, and it gives you a chance to see what kind of steamy fun is going to be in store in book four where the heat level most definitely goes up.

Don't miss out on this deal!

...HOW have I not heard of this series until now?! WHY does no one recommend this anywhere!? I honestly never heard of this series anywhere until I was on goodreads and stalking a friend's favorites list.
Holy bralls its amazing. Such superb world building and complex characters and story arcs. It doesn't feel like the typical RH formulatic quick rush job. Its absolutely amazing.
I will admit that I was a bit skeptical because it was super similar to Curse of the Gods but they really did twist it and make it its own. Made it better even..which I never though possible. The only thing I didn't really like is that it was really similar to the whole fmc is really the most powerful of us all theme that CoG did. It was really kinda easy and a bit of a disappointment to figure out what Shade really is. I am on book 5 now of this series and I want there to be a downside to her. They can't be all powerful or else why would they have all died out? (Also...I like my characters to have weaknesses and not be omnipotent. We can save that job for Killian 😉)

Great box set of one of my favourite series with bonus chapters. These are "forbidden" versions of scenes that occur through the series but arent YA or NA. I love this series so much and couldn't help having a re-read of it when I was lucky enough to get an arc of this set. I'm still finding bits I missed! I'm sure Amanda Cashure was sneaky and added bits 😂

Review for 1-4 of the series.

Originally I just read the first book, and then borrowed the 1-3 bundle. I really like the series so far. I've finished 1-3, I'm reading 4, but I'm confused because it's really seems like just a bundle of short stories and bonus scenes. I'm not quite sure where the other book "Hunters and Secrets" comes in; it says that it's technically a parallel series with different main characters, but that it ties in. Idk. So, 9/10 for writing, and 2/10 for book series organization. I started/skimmed some of book 4, but I really want to jump to book 5, but it seems it's a part 1 of 2 and ends on a cliffhanger, and book 6 is not out yet. So for now, I think I'm waiting on book 6 to come out, and then I'll read 5, then 6, and I doubt I'll read the parallel series until more books are out on that one.

Note: This series is inspired by Jane Washington and Jaymin Eve's Curse of the Gods series (says so right in a note in the book), and there are a number of similarities. Not so many that you think it's a copyright violation, but there are enough similar elements that it will put the other series in mind if you've already read it (if not, do, it's good). I think it's good that the author was upfront about the other series as an inspiration, because there are a number of elements she borrowed and built upon, and it's good and proper (in my mind) that she gave credit to the other authors for those elements.

I might check into if the author has any other books / completed series that sound interesting. I am enjoying these books.

Great series!

This book kept my attention throughout the first 3 books of the series. Can’t wait to read the rest.

You have a girl (Shade a soot servant) who gets herself in trouble a lot. Usually though from having fun with the younger servants and she takes the punishment to protect them. That is how 4 guys (brothers) find her. Chained to a pole. The brothers take Shade away from her master and take her to their side of the realm.

They’re not sure what to do with her, but they know that she is somehow part of their mothers prophecy. Seth, one of the brothers, use her to help with a prank that backfires. All of a sudden she is in a bubble that she can only feel. Nobody else sees or feels it. And with this bubble she has to be near one of the guys. Starts off as 22 paces is as far as she can get away from them. Then for some reason the bubble starts getting smaller.

Having to be this close to the guys she gets to know them, and vice versa. Seth is the Seed of Chaos, Pax is the Alpha Seed, Killian is the Seed of Darkness and Roarke is the Allure Seed. And they used to be the sons of the crown. I love how they interact with and get to know each other.

There are very bad guys in their world who are trying to get rid of them because they will hinder their plot to take over the world. The question is who will win? Will Shade be the weak link and destroy them all or will she be the one that makes them better, stronger to take on the evil doers.

Shade is working as a slave, when four brothers show up and take her with them to the immortal realm. Not exactly happy with that turn of events, Shade isn't planning on going along with it without at least making it clear she's not happy. But when chaos starts messing with things, the situation only becomes more complicated.

I love an fmc with a lack of brain-to-mouth-filter, and Shade absolutely provides with her interactions with one, two, three and four. Both her inner and outer dialogue are hilarious at times, and I enjoy a book that makes me laugh.

This series is a slow burn, with the first book in single POV and the second and third book in dual POV. There is still plenty of tension present between all the characters though, and with extra forbidden scenes the author provides a little extra for the spice lovers among us.

Absolutely amazing series, that deserves to be enjoyed by plenty of readers

I wanted to rate this book higher, I really did. Once I started reading this book, it was hard to stop. However, there were two things that made reading parts of it really difficult. First, this is basically a retelling of Curse of the Gods by Jaymin Eve. The problem with this is that it made it predictable. I knew where parts of it was going before it go there. The second thing that I hated was one of the men of her harem, Killian, was HORRIBLE. Every time he interacted her, he ended up hurting her (physically) through his own thoughtlessness, and every time he did, his attitude was “she’ll be fine”. And Shade was just, “I love his laugh.” She fell in love anyway. I ended up skimming though any chapter he was in with just the two of him. I sure as heck am not interested in reading any love scenes with him. I find him as appealing as a jar of mayonnaise.

Good story

Enjoyed this quite a lot. Obviously in the beginning there are similarities with another book series but it quickly becomes a very different story. Likeable characters and good story. The only thing I would say is that sometimes it got a little bit slow, where I just wanted them to hurry up and move onto the next phase of the story. Without trying to give too many spoilers, I would've preferred the end bit to have happened a lot sooner and then take the story from there. Otherwise I really liked it and was disappointed the next wasn't out yet! Very much going to get the next!

LOL

Consider this set as a fun riot, as exciting & as an adventure. Laugh out loud or lots of laughs, take your pick. Shade is adorable & definitely had me laughing, sometimes it took me a long time to finish a page because of laughter tears.
The best thing about the guys is that they have no idea on how to handle Shade yet are still drawn to her.
Cons-really didn't care for the bonus chapters but some of you will. I just thought they threw the flow of the story off but you have the choice of skipping them. Overall, excellent story so I thank everyone on Amanda Cashure's team that helped her bring this story to life & brought such a fun & exciting adventure to me.

I'm conflicted about this series

The first book feels so much like a curse of the gods fanfiction that had I not been reading the box set I probably would've stopped there due to it lacking it's own story (i love cotg but if I wanted to read that I would just reread it).
Books 2 and 3 help to develop a story that, while still bearing similarities, is different to cotg but it still hasn't totally sucked me in. I'll continue on because i have hope for more steam and plot momentum after the outcome of book 3

Engrossed

When I started book one I couldn’t help but notice many similarities to a certain favorite series of mine which led to some confusion on how this series would progress. I still couldn’t put it down and as each page was turned and book 1 finished and book 2 started I stopped comparing them and found myself sinking into the story. Now I desperately need the next book to find out what happens next.

Wow!

I couldn’t get enough of this story! There were moments where I was angry with the males in this story for how they treated the fmc, but it all worked out. The fmc knew when to sass and when to stop. It was all part of the prophesy. I can’t wait to read what’s next.

Shadows and Shade

The first title in the Shadows and Shade series is unforgettable! If you love your FMC with sass and a mouth that just won’t quit, you’re going to love this book. Shade’s life hasn’t been easy, but maybe in some ways it has prepared her for the future that lies ahead. I’m sure she didn’t anticipate she was about to become the pet and toy of an elite Saber team... Or His... Sigh... There is horse manure, tacos, dishes to wash, cold showers to take, and lessons to learn (hysterical sigil lessons).

Be prepared for all the feels. There is world building. There are laughs at every turn. In fact, when I didn’t want to put it down last night, my DH begged me to stop snorting so he could sleep. You simply need this book on your shelf. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the group in Shadows and Darkness, and I’m eager to go along for the ride

Shadow and Darkness

Every once in a while, an author does something so special and creates a story and characters you feel are part of your life. Amanda Cashure’s Shadows and Shade series embodies this. She has created a world I want to inhabit. Shade is a character I would gladly become in a heartbeat. It wouldn’t even matter that it would mean a lot of physical pain since she’s always getting zapped, chased or generally broken in some way nearly all the time. From characters that are so well described you can see them flesh and bone before you to action that leaves you desperate to see what happens, it always seems like a race to the finish.

Shadow and Darkness is a return to this world with everything kicked up a notch. The enemies are deadlier, the connections are steamier, the pranks are... still just as funny. We’ve got feathers this time! This book ends with our characters in yet another major predicament, of course. But as the story has continued, you’ll have had this amazing feeling that you’ve gone on the journey with these characters. How the bonds have formed between individuals and the group will leave you feeling like they’re stronger than even they believe. You will be certain in your heart that somehow they are going to find a way out of the situation they find themselves in. If anyone can find a way for four Elite Saber Seeds and a mortal to find a way to form bonds, triumph over evil, and be together, it’s this pentad.

Kitten and Allure

Kitten and Allure was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. Knowing the title I anticipated the time when Shade would be alone with Roarke and his Allure Seed. What would happen? What could happen? I knew what I wanted to happen... What actually happens is so much more than what I anticipated and becomes the key to unlocking the floodgates that moves the series forward in breakneck speed. Our bookish Roarke holds the knowledge and power in his hands as he researches to find answers to help solve the problem of the bubble, because that bubble is becoming an even larger (or smaller) problem than they realized.

It’s not long before all our Elorsins are back with Shade, before the problems unveiled at Tanakan prison are shared, and before the Alpha Seed begins to put his pieces into play on the chess board.

The threads that bind these five are winding tighter and tighter. Who can see them? The fragrance and strange smell in the air, who notices it? Sides have been chosen, but who stands with Shade and her men and who stands against them? Those who don’t should be wary because these four men finally found a reason to live and she’s everything to them...

Forbidden Chapters

The end of each book has a super smexy, steamy forbidden chapter. It has something that didn’t happen, that couldn’t happen, because Shade would have died if the yummy Elorsins unleashed all their power. Let’s say that wasn’t the case and the possibilities were endless... The things that could have happened in that shower in book one, in that cave in book two, and in that larder in book three... You need to know about those things. If this is a hint of what’s to come in book four, I am here for every word! Yes, please!

This is one of my die hard favorite series.

I already own all the ebooks but was curious about this forbidden content at the end of each book and checked out those parts. These forbidden chapters are basically what would have happened in the original story during the moments of extreme sexual tension if the characters just had wild sexy times instead of practicing restraint (and as the author says at the start of each one they aren't real). They are not intermixed into the original story but fun add-ons at the end of each book in the box set. This series is definitely a slow burn and these fun little scenes that mix things up are fantastic. They add some fun smut to what is a very PG-13? or PG? book so far in the series (I'm excited for when it steps it up a notch). Its fun and Amanda perfectly weaves what originally is happening in the story and makes it progress much farther than what actually happened. I had seen the author posting about them on their social media and was hesitant about the premise as I didn't want them to take away from the true plot of the story but they are actually super fun and don't take away anything at all.

The main story itself is utterly fantastic. If you like the Curse of the Gods series there are definitely parallels here so if you liked that story you will love this one. The FMC is hilarious and just an overall hot mess which I love and relate to cause who isn't a hot mess. The story has all the aspects of a good story: three dimensional characters, humor, sarcasm, evil bad guy, good world building, mystery, magic, and bomb sexual tension.

I love diving into an entirely new world and Ms. Cashure has created an amazing one. It’s always a little hard to jump into a world that you know nothing about, but Ms. Cashure is great at putting you in Shade’s shoes, who is also new to the magical elements of her world, and gives amazing descriptions. Shade, former slave, has just the perfect amount of sass to spice up this series. I laughed so hard at portions that I had to go to another room to keep from waking the hubby.

Shadows and Shade is a slow burn and this box set includes the first 3 books of the series as well as a bonus scene at the end of eAch book. The bonus scenes are what-if scenes and NOT real, but they throw a little heat to the series and give a promise of just how good it will be once we add a little spice into the mix.

I really can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I’m ready for more answers and it’s time for Shade to start kicking butt
