Okay Blake - five books in and the endings are all the same. Why oh why are you sending one individual who isn't even a police officer all by themselves without backup into a home to confront a suspect while she explains in detail how the crime was committed? Second, why are you making every single criminal a female? I understand that maybe it's more of a twist initially since we make generalizations about men and violence but after five books it's not shocking anymore. Lastly, why does every single crime have to do with some strange sex story? Not everything in life is about sex Blake. Injured police officers do not return to duty, police officers (let alone civilians) do not enter scenes alone without backup and a professional criminal profiler should not be making this many mistakes. I can't wait to see Hannah become a psychopath - I kind of want her to get you Jessie; you deserve it.
Typos and grammatical errors are one thing but when I’ve actually spent money on your books, I expect you to NOT mix up your characters in your story (i.e. more than once she referred to “Taylor” as “Jessie” - it’s obvious). That’s just sloppy and I expect better.
I just can’t do any more. The first book was really good, but little things through the rest of this series are just so unbelievable and irritating. Everyone is shocked to learn the high security prisoner has been communicating with a serial killer. He has no access to the outside world... how can it be happening? Oh, the prison officials let him have the newspaper! You don’t use an inhaler for an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. A profiler wouldn’t go alone to the home of a suspect who killed someone by putting a drug in their drink, ASK for a cup of tea as a stalling tactic, then be surprised that the tea was drugged after drinking it and feeling woozy. Oh... this was how the same profiler had the reaction to peanuts, by accepting a drink laced with peanut oil. Just too much sloppy, predictable stuff. It was a promising series, but I’m done.

I’m honestly disappointed in this book. I bought it on kindle and read it within a few hours and was left feeling unsatisfied because the book was uneventful. I do love this series it’s quickly become one of my favorites but I didn’t like focus of this book. The case that Jessie is working on is basically what the book is about and it wasn’t an interesting case either. There is also not much happening in this book between her and Hernandez or her personal life. I would like to see Jessie develop an actual personal life outside of her work environment maybe more friends. I love her character and her career is interesting but I do want to read more about her outside of work.
This book focused well on the smaller plot, the individual case. It however did not talk a lot about the plot of the series. It made the ending of the book a little fill, we are going back into the same story again with new people. Still a good read but not as good as the previous books
Was Blake Pierce always hateful towards women and I just started to notice or is this a new thing?
Anyway, This has a somewhat nice premise but is completely botched. The audio annoyed me and the characters annoyed me. This was a very unpleasant experience.
Love this series however there was a major lack of editing in this book. Names got completely mixed up which is a huge thing to overlook. Other than that, an enjoyable book.
I enjoyed this book due to the forward-moving action and resilience of the protagonist, Jessie who is an FBI Profiler working with the police as a consultant. Her determination and persistence tend to get her into trouble, but she is lovable with a great sense of humour. I have preordered Book 6 of the series. It is definitely worth a read. The only issues are the proofreading errors throughout the book, but this doesn't deter from the value of the story.
This is book #5 of this random series I began reading just because these books are in Libby and I can read them on my kindle. I think I would actually rate this book 3.5 stars, during it I was not as involved in the main case. It did not really matter to me who the killer was but of course it ends with the main character suddenly realizing the truth and then putting herself in dangerous predicaments to get the truth. It’s a miracle she’s still alive. At least there was some romance going on in this book to keep it more interesting. I was going to give 3 stars but the very end has a little surprise ending that makes up for the rest of the boring book. Hopefully #6 will focus more on this storyline than the random girl probably murdered in the next one.
This one may be my favorite book of the series yet. The plot of the book was so good and I enjoyed all the twists and turns, while trying to solve the case. I was hooked the entire time.
Then that final chapter! Omgosh, so good! I didn’t see that coming. It makes complete sense seeing how the prior book ended but I was not prepared. Phenomenal!!
Pretty sure I'm done with this series after this last book. Too many grammatical errors, mistakes on names of main characters, and predictable endings. Was interested at first but can't fathom reading another book if the plots are so predictable.
I love Jessie Hunt. This one she is trying to heal from killing her father and is also trying to get more peeks at her newfound sister. The case she finds herself on is a gym trainer who is 7 weeks pregnant is found dead. They presume she killed herself, but they feel there is more to it. As the net starts to get untangled they find out she has been sleeping with lots of people and married couples. Such a web to undo. The ending definitely ramps up, leading to a very crazy ending. I can't wait to read the next one.
Jessie Hunt is back and while this one didn’t seem to have as many bombshells as the previous books, it kept me interested and wanting more. I was unfamiliar with Blake Pierce until I started listening to audiobooks on Hoopla through my library. Now, he is one of my favorite authors. Since I listened to audio, I didn’t experience the typos that so many mentioned and yes, that would’ve annoyed me and likely ruined it for me. So I’ll keep listening!!
Pierce have done it again keeps you drawn in to the end. Don't think Jessie life will ever be uncomplicated each series someone or something new comes into play.
You will be pulled in once you finish the first book so do your self a favor and purchase the trilogy books worth the investment than buying one at a time.
I started listening to these audio books about a week ago and I just finished book 5. These stories are getting so so so boring and extremely repetitive. Every single story ends with Jessie going to the suspects house alone and that person ends up trying to kill her. She’s not a robot. She’s not a super hero. One person cannot go through so much mental and physical trauma and still function as a human being. Getting absolutely ridiculous. Also, this author is so obsessed with peoples bodies. There’s been one character listed as “heavy set” in book 4. Everyone else is trim, slim, thin, built, tall, fit.. the list goes on and on. Sounds like some creepy fantasy the author is trying to live his life through. I don’t even want to continue.. but I’m sure I will.
Another thrilling look into the life of criminal profiler, Jessie Hunt
Blake Pierce did not disappoint on this most recent book in the Jessie Hunt psychological thriller series. I have enjoyed getting to know Jessie, Ryan, Kat, and evening Bolton. I am looking forward to see how the relationships develop, cases get solved, and what Bolton has up his sleeve next.
I think I'm done with the series now. It is light and fun but the main character just isn't likable for me personally. And the books feel too similar () Also I didn't care for Jessie's attitude towards her sister... Oh well, I suppose it is time for me to bounce.
I didn’t enjoy this novel as much as the previous ones in the series. I think I find Jessie Hunt’s personal struggles more compelling than the crimes she works to solve. This book had a lot less personal life drama.....until the very end. On to #6!
Super disappointed in this one. Not enough serial killers. The main case was dumb. I found multiple proofreading errors that really perturbed me. I will be reading the next one because I'm dedicated and want to see the series through.
The author has a strong fixation with focusing on characters with fit/thin conventionally attractive able bodies. He seems to place more value on the more beautiful. The way he writes women also comes off as a man writing what he thinks a women should be/feels.
This is probably my least favorite book out of the series so far. The other books were AMAZING and this one was just mediocre. It seemed more of a filler book to set up the next book.
Wow another twisted ending. Okay this time Jessie and Ryan are both recovering from their injuries that her father Xander Thurmond had inflicted upon them. He cut up Ryan in several places but actually wasn't trying to kill him he just wanted to flush his daughter out. He killed one of the FBI agents assigned to watch over her while she was in FBI custody, until her father and Bolton Crutchfield were no longer a threat to her her, preferably her father dead as far as she was concerned. She did end up killing him as he was trying to kill her in his usual way of stringing up the so called evil person and cutting them until in the end he slashes them open and lets the blood drain out. Anyways they were both recovering and she finally was on her own again in a new place again with security that the FBI had helped to set up for her. Ryan was going through a divorce with his wife, Shelly. She had finally served him with divorce papers and she never came to see him the hospital with his life threatening injuries. They both had time off and finally when they get back they are assigned to desk duties to review cases that had been deemed ready to close. But you know Jessie found one for her and Ryan to investigate and that is where it goes with this one. Them trying to solve a case of a women trainer who was found dead by one of her acquaintances at her job, who thought it was funny that she was not at work. The case was ruled a suicide by both the detectives and the forensic evidence was looking to back it up, maybe....? Anyways we find out in the last story that Hannah the girl that was in the apartment with her when her father was trying to kill her was her half sister. Then we still have Bolton Crutchfield still on the loose. We know that he really doesn't want to kill her but their is still Hannah out there, who evidently has her problems with her adoptive parents being killed and we find out that her mother was killed and she saw a man in the shadows. These books have me reading this series has fast as I can. I have other things and books I need to finish but this series has drawn me in. Read this good book. I highly recommend it if you enjoy a good thriller.
