DS Alexandra Cupidi #1-3

The Dungeness Trilogy

Rate this book
*A GRIPPING DUNGENESS TRILOGY STARRING DS ALEXANDRA CUPIDI*

The Birdwatcher is a crime novel of suspense, intelligence and powerful humanity about fathers and sons, grief and guilt and facing the darkness within...

Salt Lane - DS Alexandra Cupidi has done it again. She should have learnt to keep her big mouth shut, after the scandal that sent her packing - resentful teenager in tow - from the London Met to the lonely Kent coastline. Murder is different here, among the fens and stark beaches...

Deadland brilliantly captures Kent and its social divisions, it's a crime thriller that's as ingeniously unguessable as it is moving and powerful.

I'm a crime writer and write the Eden Driscoll series set in South Devon, the Alex Cupidi series set in Dungeness, Kent and the Breen & Tozer series set in London in 1968-9. The Red Shore – first in the Eden Driscoll series – is published on July 3 2025.

My most recent book is The Wild Swimmers,, the fifth in the Alex Cupid series - if you don't count The Birdwatcher .

In July 2025 I'm publishing the first in a new series set in South Devon, The Red Shore.

My non-fiction books include Westsiders , an account of several young would-be rappers struggling to establish themselves against a backdrop of poverty and violence in South Central Los Angeles, Superhero For Hire , a compilation and of the Small Ads columns I wrote for the Observer Magazine, and Spying In Guru Land , in which I joined several British religious cults to write about them.

A Song From Dead Lips was the first in a trilogy of books set in London in 1968, featuring DS Cathal Breen and WPC Helen Tozer. It was followed by A House of Knives and A Book of Scars .

No way to die

I had read the first two books of this trilogy as stand-alone novels. So, I purchased the trilogy to complete it. I like Shaw's writing style and the role that Cupidi and her team come together and then are involved in the final denouement. Not full-on detective chasing and crime busting novels, but like it's setting on the SE English Kent Coastline, a meander through all of the clues to come up with the resolution. Enjoyable read, all three books

Excellent

Exciting storyline where all the strands are finally revealed in the last chapters. Read the book hoping that the boys would come good. So glad they did.

A real page turner.

One of the best books I’ve read. Unlike a lot of trilogies, this one gets even more exciting with each book. Very difficult to put down! Highly recommended.
