Braxton is a physician and I'm sure that the feeling of wanting to heal people comes naturally to him. Too bad I'm not interested.
All I want is to make sure my friend is safe and to find out what is going on with me physically. Braxton can help me with that, but from the heated glances thrown my way, I'm sure he wants to do more than examine me.
His medical discovery will shock us both and I'll find myself in the exact place I never expected - trusting him.
Can he find a remedy to heal my wounded soul or will I push him away before he can actually see how broken I am?
Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.
“When is the last time you broke the rules?” “Now.” Then he kisses me.
I knew Braxton’s story would be my favorite and it was. Skylar and Braxton were so hot together. The way they fought to dominate each other was out of this world...really, out of this world. I love how the story arc came full circle. In book one they abduct women because of fertility issues and in this story they return (but keep some women, more like invite) and voila a DNA specialist badass with the gift. I mean seriously, full circle and a nice bow to bring this series to a close.
*Side note: Never underestimate a book reader. I spent all weekend reading but I finished the series. If only I applied my reading skills to other things. I’d rule the world! Sadly I only apply my gift to reading.
I was looking forward to Braxton’s AKA Bones story. He was one of my favorite characters, so I was so disappointed when this one sucked. It was so BORING.
I liked the main characters but there was nothing going on, and most of this takes place away from the other characters, so we didn't even have them. I only enjoyed the last 15% or so when they joined the others.
Bottom Line- This felt like an afterthought. The big conflict was solved last book, so there wasn’t really a storyline to sustain the pages. No conflict, no drama, no action, and the smut was sort of blah. It was a dud, and the epilogue was disappointing. After investing so much time into this series, I really wanted more of an update. (all the couples, how the new govt. is doing, how the planet is fairing with the reversal of the native women’s infertility, how Zaden’s talks with Earth went, etc.) It was a huge letdown.
Looked forward to this and Braxtons story. Quite disappointed. I was bored. Really bored. The only light at the end of the tunnel was the crazyness of Zaden at the end. Everything else was worse than any trope. Did the author had no fun here? It seemed stilted and forced. The kind of doctor play was dumb. The interactions written like by a 14y old. Braxtons speech parts not at all like him. And the end, sorry, SPOILER, her being pregnant totally stupid. Why cant this be finally one story where there is a HEA without babies?
Starting out, let’s discuss how this book is 160 pages. Not enough to make any sort of real story. This isn’t my favorite of this author’s series and no effort is really made to change my mind here. Skylar, our heroine, is... let’s be generous and call her annoying af. She has no real reaction to having a “gift”, her supposed ancestry, or even the ENTIRE alien discovery/attack/abduction/what have you. No, instead she is focused on how she should be able to go rescue her friend. No thought process around how she’s not qualified to be on such a military endeavor, or no actual experience you know, on other planets, with other species, weapons training, infiltrating, rescuing... the list goes on. Just an annoying, oh, I have an opinion, no one is pointing out that I’m a total fool, so I’ll just express my opinion apropos to nothing. The hero, whose name escapes me, is forgettable. Mostly because he’s exactly the same as every other alien romance novel guy and that’s all you really need to know about him. Protective, utterly devoted...!!! and that’s the sum total of what you need in a romance male stereotype so that’s all you get. Skylar has had a bad experience. If you’ve seen the Italian Job with Marky Mark and hear Mos Def when I say that then you get what I’m putting down. Skylar’s experience is broadcast as many times as it takes for you figure it out by page 5 so there you go. I’m thinking this author should just give up the series. Reading her poor effort is probably just as boring as writing it was.
After reading the reviews I can see what one of the ladies meant this one didn't have the same fire or passion or whatever label you want to give it. Seemed like she was burned out with the series and was quickly trying to wrap it up. I finished it but i wouldn't say it was as good as the previous books. Check it out for your self
I enjoyed the first few books in this series up to this one. I was so looking forward to Braxton’s story but it was a let down for me. For one, the gator species that can light travel through the galaxy with working spaceship live in huts that are on stilts in their home planet. I did wonder how lizard like creatures with claws were able to fly space ships. It did not add up for me. And then the level of swearing went up in this book. I swear especially when i am angry or frustrated, but it doesn’t mean that i am a tough person. I still don’t understand why authors think that toughness is defined by foul mouth. Anyway, i was really disappointed because i liked Braxton a lot in the other book.
Choppy, hurried and shallow, this book is a disappointment compared to the rest of the series. The characters aren't well developed, even though one is a major character in other books. Either written by a ghost writer or the author phoned it in to get it over with. I was sad to see the series end this way.
The Delight The final story and they are to the point that of not kidnapping women. Instead, this one is a rescue mission that just leads to love.
Review Skylar is still on Earth and recovered from an assault. A college student that goes home to a gruesome scene of her parents' death and the reptilian aliens who murdered them still in the house. So infuriated she radiates a power that kills the aliens. Braxton the healer finds her and must take her with them in chase of the save other women the reptilian's did capture, including Skylar's best friend.
Braxton has been a favorite character of mine in this series. He's a warrior, a healer, and lover with a side of kink. He has comforted the women of this series from the kidnapping to giving birth. He's a lot more than just the healer we have gotten to know. He is from a different family in the alien world than the ruling one, but he supports them over his own. He has the telekinesis power that his father was envious of which caused a lot of abuse in his life. We don't learn of his powers until shit hits the fan. Now he is on a mission to save the women of earth, but also to give them the choice of coming with them.
Skylar is a warrior herself, having survived sexual assault. Braxton is honest with her that they are mates, but she doesn't believe him, gets jealous easily and unreasonably. Right off, I didn't like her character at all. She felt immature for the most part with a male who was very mature and caring. There is some battles to bring an action to this story, but it all feels forced instead of organic. Like taking out the entire race, but it seems they live in one village and can fly around to different worlds. There's even a scene where some of the past hero's show up and it felt just off.
This brings an end to the series, but there is a spin-off series based on another race that helped in the war. I just don't think I am up for that one...because their help was contingent on them getting some of the females. Yeah, this whole consent thing is getting me and I won't be coming back to this author for the time being.
This book was written from a single perspective, which was that of the human female’s, and not back-and-forth between the male and female. I found this format to be a breath of fresh air from the usual books with dual perspectives. Written in first person by Miranda Bridges, The Healer’s Hellion is book 5 in The House of Kaimar series, and follows the Dravian alien Doctor Braxton and his human mate Skylar. This book picks up where the last one left off, so I definitely recommend reading the prior books first.
Skylar was a biology major, someone very well versed in human anatomy at the Hays University in Missouri. She graduated with a degree in biology and was pursuing her master’s in DNA analysis when the Yalat attacked her home, killing her parents and abducting her best friend Camille. Turned out, Skylar was part Dravian, and had telekinetic powers of her own, which she used to protect herself against the Yalat before Braxton arrived. A DNA analysis showed that Skylar was a distant cousin to King Zaden and Commander Varek, making her a princess of the Kaimar house. Three years prior to being united with the Dravians, Skylar was sexually assaulted. The book didn't go in to specific details, but Skylar had developed a cringe whenever anyone physically touched her (until Braxton, of course), along with scar tissue on her uterus, which made her infertile. The first time Braxton brought Skylar aboard his medical clinic on the Charvix, he had healed her scar tissue, making her fertile one again. Skylar travelled with the crew of the Charvix to rescue the abducted women, not willing to wait on the sidelines while Camille was in danger.
Braxton was a physician and Commander aboard the ship Charvix. He was promoted to an advisory position when he helped Zaden win the attack against the purists. After the Yalats attacked Najarie and the Dravians won the war, Zaden filed an a appeal to the Coalition requesting jurisdiction of Earth, which was approved. So when the Yalats entered Earth’s atmosphere, the Dravians were notified and immediately went to ensure the safety of its inhabitants, which was how Braxton met Skylar. Braxton also had a history of abuse, by the means of a physically abusive father. In attempt to control him, every time Braxton used his gift as a child, he would incur punishment. His father didn't have the gift, and his jealousy came in the form of beatings so bad that they scarred his body.
Dravians resemble elves in human folklore, with long white hair and pointed elf like ears. There are 5 houses of Najarie. The house of Kaimar is the oldest of the five, and their line tends to give birth to people who possess the gift of telekinetic abilities. The largest house is Mankoi because they possess the most Dravian females. The other houses are Tari, Fael, and Silae. Each one has played a significant role in Najarie history, and is why they are the only houses recognized. Novar is their spoken language, which can be learned by a simple retinal scan, though most Dravians speak English so it’s not necessary. Braxton was from the house of Mankoi and he is one of the few who possess the gift of telekinesis. Over the years, the Dravians have quashed mating bonds through breeding to keep their species from experiencing feelings, which were viewed as a weakness.
Skylar was Braxton's one true mate, verified by his eyes changing obsidian whenever his mate was in danger, and by his newfound feelings of possessiveness, obsession and jealousy. This was a big deal because of the rarity of mating bonds within their species. Once a mating bond had formed, infidelity was impossible and the ONLY thing that mattered was their mate. The couple officially had sex in chapter 10, at the 60% mark, which was the longest wait of the series. I read this genre of books specifically for the raunch. Delaying sexual intercorse anytime after the 48% mark is like dangling the cheese so long it molds. Each book rewards the reader with 3 different acts of sexual intercourse, making this series one of my many favorites. A Dravian’s kiss is like an aphrodisiac, making the woman’s body tingle and heat up from the point of contact to her clit. *sigh* What we wouldn’t give for that to be a thing. Am-I-right ladies? 🤪
My biggest pet peeve was the double standars. For example, Skylar was a victim of sexual assault, and as a result, cringed every time a man touched or even looked at her lustfully. Braxton was a victim of child abuse. Yet, it was supposed to be okay that Skylar practically forced herself into Braxton? He said "no" and tried to walk away from her only for her to tie him up and molest him until he came. Sure, the author was kind enough to write in that he could get escape if he really wanted to. But I have little doubt that if the roles were reversed, people would take up pitchforks. And as a victim of SA, Skylar should have known better. Sometimes the f*cked up things that make it from a writer's mind onto paper need a thorough evaluation. Anyway, I digress. Consider this a trigger warning.
Overall, this series is worth the read if this genre of books is in your wheelhouse. It had the perfect balance of adventure and romance. I discovered that Miranda made an offshoot with the Masse of the Boraq of Sulrim, so that will definitely be the series I dive into next. 🫶

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as abduction / kidnapping, fighting some to the death, torture, rape, etc.
This is the last story in the series (hopefully that is only for now and there will be more in the future) and I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc.
While there are more grammatical issues in this story (such as extra words, know vs now, etc.) it wasn’t enough for me to lower the rating. It is still one of the best constructed series I have ever read, and considering I have read thousands of stories and hundreds of series to date, that is saying a lot.
Braxton is the medical physician on their planet, and while he has been included in previous stories, he is finally described in detail. Enough that he is my new book boyfriend crush ... whew, I my just might have to share a few scenes with my husband, but I digress.
Skylar’s parents are murdered and she finds them after returning home from college. This awakens a dormant gift that proves her DNA is not strictly human. She travels with Braxton in hopes of rescuing her best friend from the “crocodile” aliens and learning more about what is going on with her new unexpected powers, but might find something else has awakened that she doesn’t expect given her past.
This is the fifth book in the series, and completes the story arc begun in Lia’s book. Skylar is terrified when aliens resembling alligators try to kidnap her and some other human, only to be saved by Braxton and his fellow Dravians. What they discover in the process, is something that could impact the entire Dravian and Human races... Skylar is a rape victim, but it’s only referenced very ambiguously. The story begins some years after, and she is only just beginning to return to ‘normal’ interactions with people. Braxton is the first male to make her feel both safe and good! Braxton has his own bad experiences (also referenced only briefly), and his extreme control is a result of that. It is put to the test, however, when he meets Skylar. Skylar’s relationship with Braxton includes some kink, so consider yourself warned.
The story arc that began with the kidnapping of Lia, Morgan and the others, is finally completed in this book. The Dravians get to deal with the Yalat, Braxton finds his mate, and we get to see a few new characters. An enjoyable sci-fi romance, that all alien romance lovers will enjoy. Read as part of the series, since the story arc really wouldn’t read well as a standalone!
It was EPIC!!! I had s s ile and I had butterflies in my stomach during the whole story!!! Such a wonderful story I've never imagined Broxton story in a million years!?!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💝💝💝💝💝💝💝. From beginning to end it was a exciting ray with it's up and down... soooo cool 😎. But Here I Go Again about Skylar you didn't say anything all you wrote about her appearance was that she was beautiful and she was 5 1/2 feet tall = to 5.6 tall. NOTHING More!!! It's easy to picture the aliens first because you have a cover on the books but when it comes to the women, not much is the is said about them and bothers me. I wish you would so I can imagine them precisely as you see them while you were writing about them. Anyways I love the stories, every single one of them good job 👏 💓 💗 💖 💕 ✨ 👏 💓 💗 💖 💕
I definitely creamed my pants with this one. Miranda Bridges does a great job of creating chemistry and sexual tension between characters, and Braxton and Skylar are no exception. I had been waiting for Braxton's story because he has been a character that piqued my interest throughout the whole series - this book did not disappoint. It was great to finally read about Braxton, and see Skylar break through his tightly reined control. As with all Miranda Bridge's books, I laughed, felt some heart ache, and got my panties wet. Definitely recommend! I would also recommend reading the other books in this series (if you haven't already) as there is an overarching story/plot that continues throughout all the books, starting with the first in the series.
Might be some spoilers.... not enough to ruin the book. I usually only read reviews on the first of series anyways so if you ARE reading this its probably more to see if others agreed with you.
I hate giving this author anything less than a 4 but there was a lot missing in this one for me. I was really excited too because who doesnt like a hot doc.
Biggest thing is that there is not some "holy shit wtf am I doing" moment as Skylar unleashes this power. There is no holy shit I'm part alien moment. I guess you could argue she takes it in stride but to me, its not properly addressed, like ever. So thats super annoying and is so much of the story line that it throws most all of the rest off.
The Healer’s Hellion: House of Kaimar Book 5 By Miranda Bridges Kindle unlimited purchase I've been waiting for this book since I've finish book 4. I love this series and I need more books! Bones gets his own mate. One he is not ready for. Braxton is on earth protecting us earthlings from a lizard invasion when he finds his one true mate. Skylar like most people on earth thinks we are the only things in space. So walking into her home and seeing her parents on the floor dead killed by these large reptiles is unsettling, to say the least. This book does not disappoint. From the first page to the last I could not put it down.
I liked that the aliens appear to have finally seen the error of their ways and are protecting earth now. It’s a bit flimsy in terms of the storyline but it does work. Mostly. Despite the gaps. The hero is the best character in the book, which surprised me a little since he didn’t seem to have a whole lot of personality in earlier books. The first sex scene was unexpectedly adventurous, which confused me especially considering the heroine’s past. Overall it was an easy read.
Major disappointment!!! I was looking forward to reading Braxton’s love story only to be completely underwhelmed with this book.
The MAJOR reason why I absolutely did not enjoy this book was because there was no reason, whatsoever, for Skylar to go on the rescue mission. She has no military background, no fighting skills, nothing to even be an asset in any way. It was pointless. And then they proceeded to have sex in this place???? WTF!!!
Feels like the author just sorta gave up... Hated it!

this series has been getting worse the author has this bizarre idea that women how have been assulted or raped will then enjoy sexually dominating or bdsm. she always has the men half choke the woman during "lovemaking" and honestly this book is the absolute worst with freaky sex scenes. I can't understand why she thinks a rape victim would enjoy being threateningly dominated in the sack. aside from that the author thinks that butt stuff is the epitome of connection??? yuck and yuck wish reviews had warned me.
Miranda you brilliant soul. Thank you for taking us on a journey in which we got to get to know Braxton and his hot self. Bones has always been sweet though the more serious of the group. But with Skylar’s help we get to see a more “human” side to the doctor. This tale was full of healing, new life, FAMILY and so much love. I loved this story. But that is no surprise because Miranda is the best at what she does. Cannot wait to go on another adventure soon...
After waiting for Braxton’s book, the anticipation didn’t equate with the ultimate result ... BORING! I stuck with as long as I could and finally gave up at 48%.
Braxton seemed to be taken over by a pod person - not the same guy. The female lead was an absolute annoyance from the get go and got worse as the story continued.
Fan of the author but I hope the series stops here if this is any example of how it’s to continue.
The true happy ending for all is brought together in this novel. I loved the characters in this story best of all the books. My favorite line, "Never underestimate the power of a healer because they can not only mend your broken body and your wounded soul, but sometimes they bring you back to life by touching your heart and filling it with so much love that you have no choice but to live."
I am so sorry and sad to see this series end. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every book and each and every character. The events in each book was well written and each book kept you caught until you finished it. Each book was intergrated with the previous book characters effortlessly which also helped keep the storylines going forward. The Aliens are Hot, Hot, Hot, lucky women.
I enjoy Sci Fi because anything goes. There is wit, humour, action, evil, suspense, tension and more as these alpha men set about finding earth woman that may save them as a race. Aliens are looking for the one woman that they are compatible with but what they find is more than they thought. Along the way they find their mates but it is the Purists who threaten it all. A quick and fun read.
*I am a beta reader for this author and read this book before publication and copy was finalized* I loved this book! It gave me all of the Braxton feelings I wanted and I feel like it ushered in a whole new round of possibilities for this world! I am so excited to see what direction this series takes next!
This is the 5th book in this series and it's hard to say which one I've enjoyed the most. This book answers some questions raised in the last books but it's definitely a stand alone with a sweet HEA. Skylar and Braxton are a power couple in more ways than one. I hope there will be more books.
The book was awesome, just as great as all the previous ones and holds your attention from beginning to end. Has everything you want in a romance with plenty of action, adventure, drama, kidnapping, passion, and hot sexy scenes that sizzles but not over the top with awesome characters? A must buy and hopefully they will be more.
Skylar gets home to find aliens in her kitchen that have killed her parents. She is mmm mad and terrified, and discovers she has the power to kill . Braxton is also an alien but a good one and a healer. He is her mate and proud of her. He will help her grieve heal and find her friend. Will she let him love her? Will she love him back?
I was not disappointed with this book. I was waiting for Braxton's story, since he's been the one my interest was on throughout all series. I liked this book the most. How So glad came to his power and how she and Braxton make a great team. How she breaks his highly reined control and at the end how she discover she has a family in Braxton world. It was great, I love it 💘.
I really enjoyed this one. I think the only thing I wasn't a fan of was that she had powers. I kind of like there being a human and alien if that's the setup for the couple. I also like that we got a little more H and h time rather than her being surrounded by the other women while on the ship.
