Man In Chains Gianni ‘The Diamond’ Marcello has one goal; to be the boxing champion of the world. It will take commitment, sacrifice, discipline and hard work, the biggest being love and a meaningful relationship. They won’t co-exist; responsibility for one’s family takes precedence. He’s prepared to leave one to achieve the other. In Shelley, he’s found the perfect girl. She understands his objectives. Until they’re married and every action proves him wrong. Disappointed, Gianni struggles to accommodate a situation he wasn’t expecting. Having one’s back against a wall makes freedom all the sweeter. But with love comes sacrifice, one that sends everything tumbling at their feet. Shelley is over the moon to wear his ring. However, living in the shadow of Gianni’s dream is more than she can bear. She must give up everything, but is unaware of how much it may cost them both. Francis; scarred, scared, and damaged, erupts into Gianni’s life when he’s least expecting. The serious, strangely appealing woman, whose disfigured face and body hide a passion he never expected. She quickly becomes the rock he needs. Loyalty, love and a dream held close to his heart, will be harder to fight for than anything he’d ever faced in the ring. But more than that, Gianni will have to break the chains to find himself, and discover what matters most.
Author of contemporary fiction featuring a wide variety of subjects and interest. I refuse to be boxed into a genre, there are so many interesting aspects of literature to explore. I want to give you the unexpected, the new, the thrill, the suspense. All the things you never expected, in twists and turns that make you think about a story, long after you have finished reading it. Not everything I write will be for everyone, I understand that its human nature to be different. But give me a chance, come and explore with me, perhaps we can find mutual ground to enjoy.
The first half of this story dragged and I felt that there was a lot of repetition. The hero (Gianni) was a boxer and had a clear plan in sight for his future. The repetition came in the form of him telling the heroine (Shelly) in Part I over and over again about being focused on his goal and not allowing her or anyone else to distract him. The heroine was easily influenced by her family and friends and it was a huge turn-off for the hero. She eventually reaches her goal of marriage but his continued desire for success drives a wedge between them that can't be bridged.
When he meets the new heroine (Francis) I thought he was a changed man but he wanted to relive the past and he ended up hurting his new love. I'm a believer in justice and I was disappointed that the heroine in Part II didn't get the justice she deserved from a previous relationship. I needed and wanted that for her. When something was revealed about the heroine, it felt out of left field and definitely something she should have told the hero years ago. Also, the heroes best friend, Gary disappears from the story. Story ends at 91 percent.
Sneak Peek at Man in Chains 2 (Vince) Vince is Gianni's older brother.
I won't lie sara Allen i was ready to put this book down because it seemed slow pace to me and i like boxing but i was ready to quit reading and move onto another. I realized that if Unique Words, LLC recommended this book i needed to stick with it and I made the right choice. I went from admiring Gianni determination and focus to feeling sometimes he was selfish when it came to shelley, but as you continue to read the story it all makes sense. I kept saying all right i gave this book a 4, but when gianni met Francis I fully understand what he told Shelley in the end. Gianni and Francis were a good fit and the fact that his dad who I felt should have been right there at some of his fights recognized the good in her should have been confirmation that this was the right one. We don't always listen to the signs and Gianni will have to learn the hard way that easy is always a good thing. Francis and shelley different as night and day and even Yuri and Ted saw that Francis was the right one for him and gave her respect.
Very complexed characterizations. Nothing was simple in the story.
I was disappointed in Gianni’s actions, but he was human, making mistakes. I enjoyed the changes that he went through and it was great that he was able to accomplish the goals that he set out for himself even through the challenges in his life.
I did not like Shelley at all for the same reasons Gianni in the end realized and even though with time and distance, she did not evolve, even getting the things that she said that she wanted, willing to turn her back on her family for a piece of nostalgia.
Francis was my hero in this story. After everything that happened to her, she was able to persevere and overcome even through such tragedy and I respect her for taking the time she took in saying “I Do.”
This is not the first time that I have read from this author. I look forward to reading more, and I definitely, can not wait until “MAN IN CHAINS 2” is out.
This is my first book by this author and the storyline was intense. Gianni and Shelley had an horrible relationship. Then he met Francis everything he wanted in a woman. What did he do cheat with a woman who meant him no good. I would have given this book a higher star if he hadn't hurt someone else.
