Just one week after an entire town in Alaska mysteriously fell ill, all two hundred of them were dead.Six months ago a famous Russian virologist entered Seattle for a World Health Conference, but then he disappeared. Coincidence? The President of the United States doesn’t think so, that’s why he’s sending in elite counterterrorism operative, Alexander King. King might not know anything about bioweapons, but he’s an expert at stopping bad people from doing bad things. And if he doesn’t get his man this time, millions of lives could be lost.

Taken from the pages of what is happening in our country today, Bradley Wright creates a puzzle for Alexander King to follow to save the country he loves.

I would describe Alexander King as an alpha male who will go to any length to protect the people or country that he loves.

Strap on your seat belt and get ready for the ride.

Book Review - In "Cold War," author Bradley Wright takes his CIA operative Alexander King to one of the chilliest spots on earth, Point Barrow, Alaska. The entire town of two hundred people have been infected with a deadly virus and are now dead – Bioterrorism?! Under the direction of POTUS, “Xander” King is sent to Barrow, Alaska to investigate a facility there that’s supposed to be a ‘dismembering’ facility. After additional investigation, King discovers that the facility is a Russian coverup for manufacturing the deadly virus that has wiped out the American town’s population. Extremely fast paced action thriller that impressed me. Wright is a master at telling quick and sharp stories that keeps the reader engaged and connected. He doesn't play too deeply into what motivates his characters. He gives them moral clarity and a sense of right and wrong and then tells exuberant and vigorous narratives. King and the other characters do what they must do, and Wright tells this story with well written imagery of the scenes and situations and well put-together plotlines. This was a good tale, and Alexander King is a terrific character. An enjoyable series so far…

A Good Time Was Had!!

This is just par for the course now on how good a Alexander King story is going to be. I love that Xander is placed in the situation where he has to let someone else handle the danger as well. Also I will say again that Sam is just totally a force in her own right.I also have to let it be said the I think that Zhanna needs to be given her due as well(I mean.KGB) she no slouch. This was just around good, the action is always a nail bitter. With an appearance by a Patrick, would love to see him run into Sam again. Now with a few more people clued in the Xander is alive ,won't be long before the rest of the family knows. So looking for the next story, bummer we.have to wait till next year. I vote we get a.Xmas.teaser.

Alexander King died. Make that faked his death. But a dreaded virus that has already killed about all the residents in a remote Alaska village and is suspected of being manufactured to wreak havoc on the United States pulls him back into the shady world of espionage and undercover operatives. The president, who owes King his life, wants his top guy on the case without making too much fuss throughout the media. As we who have lived through one pandemic already know, a virus can dominate headlines. In "Cold War," author Bradley Wright takes the fight to the 49th state's north shore, trading exotic mostly warmer locations for one of the chilliest spots on the earth. Utqiavik, formerly known as Point Barrow, isn't known for its beaches. Temperatures plunge at the top of the world. Wright does his best to explain what hunting down bad guys in snow and ice is all about but slips up on various details. Not that I've been there. But I've been close. Winter can be difficult. In nearby Prudhoe, crews don't even turn off their vehicles to prevent them from freezing up. Solid. But that detail stands as little importance. King infiltrates a mine near the community, posing as a security guard. He uncovers information that leads him to think something rotten is going on. But he also doesn't endear himself to the local population. Wright is a master at his genre. He doesn't fiddle too deeply in what motivates his characters. He gives them moral clarity and a sense of right and wrong. They do what they have to. And they don't appreciate losing. I enjoyed imagining the scenes and situations situated in the state in which I grew up, picturing the immediate blast of cold air that follows a broken window where temperatures easily dip and stay below zero.

Cold War. Bradley Wright

An entire town in Alaska has been infected with a deadly virus. All two hundred of the town's inhabitants are now dead. Bioterrorism. Alexander king, CIA operative under the direction of POTUS is sent to Barrow Alaska to investigate a facility there. It's suppose to be a maiming facility. After further investigation there are too many coincidences. Something is wrong and then King discoveries a Russian virolgist working there. The facility is a cover for The manufacture of this deadly virus. And the motive is as old as time. Money. Extremely fast paced action thriller!! Enjoyed immensely!

Good book

I liked that it was fast pace d and not to much information I don't need to enjoy a good faction book. I totally recommend it if you like action, spys, and trying to save your country. I liked that the hero had good friends and good back up and that you really weren't sure who the bad guy was until near the end. Took me 2 days to read in between doing my regular chores.

Who Do You Believe?

When X has to go to Alaska to find out what is happening there with a lethal virus that has already been unleashed he finds that he doesn’t know who to believe. And, that is what makes this book really good! As King and Sam are trying to find out who’s who so was I… The writing is so good that I couldn’t figure it out any faster than the clues were coming in. Great book and a great ending too. You’ll like it!

I loved this book! It's so timely too. This book is full of action- both fighting and a bit of lovemaking. We all need an Alexander King in our lives, protecting us at all costs, from enemies we don't ever know about because he eliminates the threat before we hear about them. Thanks for another great ride with Xander and Sam!

Great Read!

Great to see X back! Mesmerizing story pulled me in from the get go and didn’t let go until the final words. Wright really nailed it. Only one area concerned me without giving anything away was there didn’t seem to be a lot of concern over the broken vial. Definitely a must read that you can not afford to miss

A generous 2 stars. If you love playing video games where you get to kill dozens of monsters and bad guys and don't have to think logically, this is the book for you. The body count is staggering. The literary content not so much. This was worse than Book 1. It was a real struggle for me to finish it. And so I say a final goodbye to "self-published" Bradley Wright.

Harry Truman's the buck stops here! Only it doesn't

Escapism workts, camera, action! I am convinced that this is really the way government works now. Its a business nothing like the founding fathers would recognize. It all about change patriotic is for the general populace. We need another continental Congress to set term and benefit limits.

An American Secret agent battles nefarious bad guys in frozen Alaska.
US, Russian agents and mobsters abound in this viral suspense thriller.

It was an amazing story!

I want to roll up my words in how the book is exceptional. But I don't have the words to describe it. It was incredible. The plot, the characters, and the twists were magnificent! I hope that you find it as rewarding as I did. Kudos to Mr. Wright! I willlike when I read the next book in the series.

Again! This author wrote a great book!

So Brad can seriously write. I’ve been getting so many authors of late that have insecurity issues and have to use the biggest most arcane words you have to look up and then they spend page after page of useless dribble. Brad just gets right to it and keeps it going. Brad you rock!!!

Easy Reading

LOVED that characters are not reintroduced over and over in every chapter. To me, it becomes boring. And my memory is not that great! If necessary, list the characters in the front or back of the book for easy look up.

Held my attention from the start to finish. Twists and turns without being complicated.

Lite on profanity.

I want Sam and Patrick to reconnect.

Bradley Wright sure knows how to keep a fast-paced thriller moving. The action in this novel is excellent. Great second book in a series that is hot and getting hotter. I recommend Wright to anyone who loves action-packed spy thrillers. You won't be disappointed. I listened to this audiobook. The narrator does an excellent job.

This had been on my Kindle forever and I decided it was time to read and return to KU. It had been a few years since I had read the first book but I was able to pick up from where I had left off. It was a suspenseful story and kept my attention. An interesting read and I will probably continue the series. I had also read all the previous books of Xander King which I enjoyed.

To say each time that Bradley's book is the best one yet, is to repeat myself. I think the excitement each time just grows with his skill at telling a story. This one is so timely, that the plot is frightening. It truly is a thriller.

Cold War

Long term fan of this writer from the very first book. This one hits pretty close to home. A virus threatens the US and the rest of the world. It is a tangled web of excitement right on the heels of COVID-19. Amazing fun read.

Chillingly Current

Contemporary setting that so mirrors today that it scares you to realize just how easily this could happen. A twist to the plot you won't see coming as King and Sam run the ends of the earth to prevent another pandemic.

Fast Moving as an Almost Yet Another Pandemic Story

If there's to be a follow on pandemic to Covid this could be it. The plot is realistic and believable with twists and turns that keeps you guessing to the end. I highly recommend this book!

Plot is utterly ridiculous

Too much profanity, excessive unbelievable macho accomplishments against the odds of real life.. Communications with prominent officials are too casual and informal to align with real life..

Lost interest after reading about a third ofbook

I do not like to read stories that the good guy takes on four or more and beats them all without hardly being hurt and then hold into bed with a knockout beauity, he just met.

felt abrupt

I enjoyed the story line and while fast paced it just felt abrupt in the final 1/4 off the book. I felt like the author rushed and wanted to get it done quicker. Overall I enjoyed it and still liking the the series, so moving on to the next book.

Love Bradley Wright. I've read two books and can't wait for 3

Alex king is my hero and I've enjoyed every page of Cold War. I recognized we are always in danger and would love to think King is fighting for us.
