Those cursive words, written in dark red ink, haunt me day by day in my new life here at Blazing Academy.
I, Alice Blaze, always dreamed of staying in one school long enough to learn, grow, and make a few friends. At last, my wish has been granted at the academy for all things blazing, but it comes with heavy consequences.
Semester two is only weeks away, but I'm stuck staring out a single window and enduring daily therapy sessions with Headmaster CloverSpell herself. Not only am I forced to think about the future, but she also wants me to unlock the secrets left behind from my Mother’s past.
Bitterness and grief are hard to endure when you're all alone, but fortunately, I'm not the isolated sixteen-year-old I was four months ago. With Gabriel, Kerebrus, and Westley on my side, I've decided to turn my frustration and sadness into fuel as I train for the duty I've been assigned.
Now it's my time to rise above the fiery obstacles before me, unlocking my flaming gifts and opening the chest of secrets my mother left behind. I'm a blazing witch, and the enemy who lingers in the darkness will soon find out how scorching things can get with me in the picture.
Given that we had only one book so far in this series and Alice has been busy. It took a moment to reconnect myself to the world that we were introduce in but when once I read those words "Welcome to the club, Blazing Horsemen." , everything snapped into place and it all came flooding back.
If you know Alice, you know that she hasn't had the easiest of lives mentally and physically. It's not surprise that Song touches on it in the first few chapters allowing readers into her unique situation. Alice doesn't shy away from her problems that brought her to Blazing but it's nice to see people supporting her and advocating for her rights as needs friends and family like this
As this semester is not an ordinary one and boy what is unveiled maybe my favourite twist from this world to date. Like many Song books, you have to expect the unexpected and this book delivered some juicy twists. Song did a nice job there and I was particular intrigued by a plot point that readers will be happy to see.
Alice and her men learn some few home truths and readers get to learn more about the bad guys and how they play into this world. As always there some drama with them as they try to wreck havoc and destroy Alice from becoming the person she supposed to be . Some unexpected and others well guess we have to wait and see. The second instalment was intriguing and open up the school in new ways allowing us to understand her men and the history of Blazing Horseman. The introduction of new characters added a richness to the back history of the Academy and the bad guys. It’s going to be a wild third book guessing how things ended and what was hinted .
Hrm-okay. Based on actual enjoyment level, this book would have a much higher rating. I LOVE all the characters and this is the darkest of Avery Song’s book that I have read and I am so here for it.
But…a lot of this made no sense? Why did Violet send Alice to a school where CloverSpell was principal? If Alice’s dad knew what was going on, why didn’t he just tell the school? Why did the grandparents both poison Liz to make her infertile… and then threaten to kill her if she doesn’t have a baby…and then say it is the biggest mistake of her life when she does and try to kill the baby?! Some things just don’t add up.
Saying all of this, I’m still in Love with this book! Alice is my new favourite of this authors MC’s (I’ve only read three so far) And Westley is the ultimate book boyfriend. And Clara is the ultimate bestie. I think y’all get what I mean, this book has a lot of ultimates.
I’ve gotta say…I have no idea where this series is going. I was raised by an author, so-while I lovelovelove reading- the stories never really surprise me. But this?! The sky would fall onto the planet and I would accept this as a natural progression for the story.
Oh, and can we talk about this book low-key making fun of enemies to lovers?! Don’t get me wrong, I love this trope, but me being able to summon all 4 flame types is more likely than falling for someone I hate. This is another thing I love about these books, the healthy relationships! Honestly there is a lot of rep that these books have that is amazing. The main character experiences a trauma, and actually takes care of her mental health?! Goes to therapy?! Takes medication?! What makes it even better is that none of these things are big plot points. They are just things Alice does without a thought or any shame. And saying this is a fantasy, this is the most realistic response to trauma I’ve ever seen. It all made me feel really warm on the inside (worst pun ever, but I am being serious)
Can’t wait to continue this series and see how Alice and all of her relationships grow!
I am so exited about this new semester of Blazing Academy. Alice is getting stronger and it was great to see her mental health improve, friendship and relationships getting better and her becoming more sure of herself. I can’t wait for the next book
Blazing Academy: Semester Two by Avery Song is an engaging book that picks up where the first book left off, but let me just say this...this book is NOT for everyone. There is a lot of sensitive material in this book that some readers might find upsetting or feel uncomfortable reading. I feel that the author should have at least put a trigger warning with this book's blurb so that if some readers struggle with mental health issues or have dark thoughts to decide whether or not they choose to pick this particular book up as you cannot just skip over it. If you choose to read this book, know that it is good. I had to backtrack real quick to refresh on how the last book ended and I was pleased that things pick up where they left off but from a different character's perspective. Things get rough in the first half of this story, so buckle up and prepare to brace. Things are far from sunshine and rainbows for Alice and her men. With the startling death of her grandmother, Alice experiences a snap that threatens to destroy everything. From there, things only get more intense. I'm pulled into the storyline as I'm wanting to know how Alice will handle all the things that are swirling around her. I honestly get the sense from the author that there is more going on beneath the surface as it appears that Alice is being targeted from every side. Which, honestly, makes sense when you compare this story to all the other girls as well. I'm curious to see who is the one in this world/universe striving to manipulate things. The relationships between Alice and the guys continue to grow and develop, which I like. I just don't like how Westley seems to get jealous...quite a bit. Okay, yeah, it's cute in some senses, but then it begins to become tiring since he wants to be the first in...everything. Is it really necessary to always be first? The author hints and begins the process of another joining the group and of course the guys' reactions are kinda fun to watch I'll admit. I view jealousy in some cases as fine and then in others as just them being insecure that Alice will want more. I do appreciate that Alice has a female friend in this book. It's a nice change in comparison to the other books that are similar. I'm hopeful that Damon's sister will become another addition to the group. As I stated earlier there is some content in this book that I feel is not completely appropriate for the age range that the author is trying to pull in with this book/series. The author introduces a heavy mental health angle in this story might be a bit too much for some readers who might be struggling with that very issue. There is a lot of family baggage that gets dumped out, which makes me a bit conflicted in how I feel about the course that the author takes in connection with the grandparents. It's a massive scene that takes place and I feel that it's too much too quickly. I'm worried that some younger readers may struggle with this. Once again, I'll state that I feel that the author should have put a trigger warning concerning some of the content of this book for readers so that they don't get blindsided with what's to come. Some of the language is a bit juvenile which is a bit of a turn-off for this book as well. They are 16 years old and up, but then they have moments of where they act and talk like 10-year-olds. This book has a lot going for it, but then it has some things that bring it down a bit. I understand that the author is wanting to show how Alice heals, overcomes, and gets stronger, but I think that some moments might be too much for some readers. So, I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. The overall content is good, but I would classify this book more as an Upper YA novel more intended for readers who are 17 and up regardless of the MC's age. If you enjoyed the first book in this series and are comfortable reading darker scenes/moments then I encourage you to pick up this book.
I hate that this book even had an ending--er, cliffhanger. Too good to stop where it did..
So much happened in this second book and so much was revealed. Did not expect those dark secrets to be that twisted. Did not even think them capable of all they did.
Alice really went through so much here. It was easy to let slip with all that kept happening around her. If it wasn't one thing, it was another. Her men have done an amazing job having her back, and thankfully she also gained more friends along the way. Westley really needs to find a time to open up. He knows more than he's letting on, but it isn't clear if he is just purposely keeping it to himself or if it is because he really isn't sure himself if it was all real or not. Just more questions to add to my list. I have a feeling Damon will soon be added to her little group of men, at least I hope so. In my last review I had mentioned how he stood out. Glad I was right in some things. He really is more than meets the eye.
Learned some things about some secret organization that apparently is worse than the mafia? Who knows. But they seem to be powerful and not afraid to get their hands dirty. That cliffhanger also left a lot to be said.
Can't wait for the next book to come out. I really need to know what will happen next!
Welcome back to Blazing Academy, where life is scorching hot! When we first get back to Alice’s story, it is with tears and pain that Alice is welcomed into the coveted position of Blazing Horsemen.
From the terrible lows of losing a loved one, to unforgivable betrayals, Alice needs to learn how to look back into her past and see the clues that she missed concerning her parents and her earlier childhood. As she reviews all that she thought she knew about her past, secrets are revealed and Alice is blessed with insight into where she is meant to be.
As Alice goes from the very lows to a semblance of love from her boyfriends and her father, she is blessed with a necklace that has somehow found its way back to her from a past life she lived.
With new enemies and new friends, Alice is steadily growing into the person that she always wanted to be...but will Alice’s friends become a casualty of the war they are waging against Alice and all she holds dear? Or will Alice be able to save them all?
If you love books with a strong FMC, a quirky and lovable harem, and friends who will stand firm; then this is the series for you!
Blazing Academy: Semester Two is the second book in the Academy For All Things Scorching by Avery Song.
Okay so the extremely random and excessively long-winded dialogues in this book escalated. There’s the big fight between Chambers and Henry, that sheds light on not only Violet’s death but Alice’s upbringing and suffering before finding Blazing. And countless heart-to-hearts, or the therapy session with Autumn. It was just a lot of dialogue. Yay, for info dumping! We learned so much in these pages and yet there’s still much more left unknown.
I did not realize how slow-burn this series would be. Only some heavy make out sessions in that department. Also, the guys are all still such mysteries. Which is a little bit of a letdown. I’ll probably need to step back from this series for a bit and wait for a few more books to be released before I can truly enjoy their path together.
Ooh! Almost forgot to mention to family reunion, fortune-telling riddles, proven past lives reunited, multi-verse friendships, and secret society nonsense. Lots and lots of new fun and intriguing goings on.
Shocks & Truthful Horrors Come To Light!!😱💔😭🙏😍 The Darkness Of The Other Universes Is Here!😳💥 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Blazing Academy: Semester Two (Academy For All Things Scorching #2)
Alice is put through the emotional ringer throughout this book. Her boyfriend's, Dad & Clara are her saving grace & the support she needs. Headmaster Cloverspell is an excellent support for her too. Her world view of her past is challenged & her eyes opened in the most brutal way. It turns out that the truth can be almost freeing though.🙏
This book very much concentrated on ensuring Alice's mental health was being taken care of, especially after her Nan's demise & the taunting of her that followed!😡😢 There are some very emotive subjects dealt with, with delicacy, maturity & compassion, this impressed me greatly.🙏💕 I like this series, probably more than any of the others in this World currently, due to its honesty of emotions and the pace of the relationships!😍💘🔥🌟
Be warned, this ends with a humdinger of a cliffhanger. Boy oh boy is it worth the read! Alice will grow leaps and bounds by the end. However what she learns is far from free. She and someone dear to her learn important truths crucial to their future. There are also horrific secrets revealed, betrayal galore, and many twists and turns throughout this very exciting read!!! Avery Song has a true gift for the written word. I love how she's managing to entwine a number of her series/universes into becoming integral to one another. I honestly can't wait to see how this will all play out, both in the next BLAZING book and her other series. With each book among the different series we slowly get another piece to this complicated and exciting puzzle. The games have begun and Alice and her guys are NOT going to be the losing team... Watch out shadows for the flaming light are coming for you!
So book two started up right at book one’s cliffhanger, but from Westley’s POV instead of Alice’s and boyyy does it get crazy right off the bat! We learned SO much in this book! Poor Alice! I wanted to hug her sooooo many times during this book! The truths we learn about her grandparents was just...heartbreaking. ): It hurt my heart how much emotional trauma she had/has to work through, but also let me connect with her and making her feel more...real. While working through her trauma Alice has to look back at her past and see and understand things that she didn’t at the time. This leads to some secrets being revealed. But Alice comes out stronger. And the ending...how is it fair to end not just one, but two books on serious cliffhangers back to back?! I think Avery might just be trying to kill us. 😅
A wonderful addition to the story of Alice! We pick up at the death of her grandma that sends her over the edge. Admitted to a horrid hospital things go south real fast until she is rescued. This is just the beginning of the secrets she will learn as things start coming out. I must admit I was a little shocked at all of the back stabbing. This is all before school even starts. Once it does their horseman responsibilities kick in on top of the classes. This opens doors for them as they go about figuring things out with the help of a surprise visitor. Adds so much depth to who Alice really is while opening new doors for their group as a whole. All to lead us to an explosive cliff hanger ending. A must read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
This story begins where the first ended. Although I’m not a fan of cliffhanger books I do enjoy this series. This book pulls you into the characters lives, loves, battles, adventures, from the joy to the tragedies, you as the reader feel as though you are present through all of the good, the bad and the ugly. Damon and Gabriel are two characters I can’t wait to find out more about. This story has a continuity that I enjoy. I love seeing the way that the relationships between the main characters build and grow. I will say that there are some intense scenes in this book. But over all I would really recommend this book to anyone. Avery Song has a way with words that builds worlds within stories.
As Alice grows and begins to come into her own, she slowly starts to realize how freaking powerful she is. As she fights to overcome past trauma, the person that begins to emerge is a beautiful, glorious, force to be reckoned with and I am here for it! Along with Gabriel, Westley, and Keru, although still new relationships, the foundation they're building is a strong one as they fight the Lock and Key Organization. With a hint of steam, this slow burn, Academy romance shows so much promise of what is coming their way!! With an ending that is an emotional bomb, Semester Two was epic! Can't wait to see what awaits in Semester Three!!
I devoured book two so fast, I had to go back and re-read to truly enjoy it even more. I love Alice, Westley, Gabriel, and Keru. I was shocked at just how involved her grandparents were in Alice's bad fortune. Your family is supposed to protect and nurture you, but sometimes, they can be the most toxic and cause the most harm and not want your best interests in heart. That revelation broke my heart, but at least it showed the truth of what happened. I'm glad Alice has those around her now to lift her up and love her. I'm excited to read the next book to see what all Alice can do, especially knowing how powerful she really is.

Well this books starts off with a bang...literally. It’s fast paced, intense and kinda dark right from the beginning where we get to see Alice struggling with the death of her Grandmother, hear more of what awful grandparents they were and the bullying that Alice has dealt with most of her life.
Throughout the course of the book we learn more about what it means to be a Blazing Horsemen, continued interactions with other characters and universes in Avery’s academy series, and further character development.
Lots going on in this book, so buckle up and prepare yourself for emotional tug of war and intense twists.
Totally love these books each one brings several others closer together to help build a bigger picture of the world created by Avery. The character of Alice in this book we see grow more into herself after overcoming such a crazy start to the book. Where it continues from the last book with her grandmother dead. Who then goes through many twists and turns that are to try and stop her coming to be the strong character we know she will be. We also get to see her guys Gabriel, Westley and Keru grow closer to Alice and share things with her more in this book. To make an amazing read with a crazy cliffhanger ending can't wait to see what happens next.
I am so so grateful that the book picked up right where it left off. My emotions were all over the place again throughout this book: Happy, Sad, Angry, Confused! You meet new characters, find out about hidden betrayals, and learn about sacrifices people in her life have made.
I love the fact that her father and her continue to get closer. That you get to know each boyfriend more in-depth and that she's figuring out who she is in this still new world of hers. Be warned though. There is another cliff hanger at the end! I have a feeling this going to be the pattern for these books but that's okay with me.
Talk about mind blowing revelations! I love reading about Alice and her men. I cannot wait until the next book to see what happens. This semester was so full of ups and downs. Learning they were too in their class and becoming Horsemen. Then the attack while at her grandparents house, her grandmother's death and the hospital stay. Finding out the truth about her grandparents and her grandpa going to jail. Tackling the new semester. The horsemens rooms and their assistants. The carnival, getting a card reading, the Farris wheel breaking, making a new friend from a different universe, someone trying to steal from her, oh and seeing her mom! Among other things that happened there. Ugh I could keep going. Such a good book! Definitely ready for Semester 3!
The second book in this series. From the first book I had enjoyed learning about Alice and her guys. They are going into their second semester and I was so excited to get this one and learn more. Learning how powerful she is and will be and coming into her own is just so awesome. So many twists and turns in this semester and just enjoying every minute of it. This one is just even better and will definitely keep you hooked. Absolutely need the next book after this one to find out what will happen next.
This sequel in Alice's story did not disappoint. Picking up from the cliff hanger we were left with at the end of Semester 1, we learn the truth about the attack, about her grandparents, and about her parents. The truth is nothing but shocking! With her men, and fellow Blazing Horseman, at her side they start off the semester in style. A perk of being a Blazing Horseman is the luxuries that come with it. With some adventure, self discovery, and a new friend from a different universe this book leaves you wishing book 3 was already out!
I love how we are getting to see how the different Academy's in the other universes are coming together and how they are all fighting the same dark organisation. In this book book we see Alice and her 3 men get closer together. Alice's dad is always there to support her and so are the head mistress and professor, Alice has made a new friend from the other universe and her and Clara are the friends that alice always dreamed of. Damion is still grumpy but he is there when the others need him.
You know I really love these books. I am so proud of Alice and how far she has on a personal level. This book had me giggling so much and blushing because of her guys and her Dad at times. It was a really enjoyable read on so many different levels. The emotions that this book made me feel just kept wanting more. I can’t wait for next book to see what happen next because Alice is so mad and I don’t blame her. She is not the same girl as before and yet they think bullying will make her bend to there will. Can’t wait to book 3.
Avery song you have done it again. Another can’t put down book. Alice is coming into her powers quickly. She has her 3 boyfriends to help her. Will daemon be a fourth? Who needs enemies with grandparents like her. I wanted to kill them both after finding all that out. That key and lock gang better watch out. Great story I love alices character,so strong, smart and beautiful. Can’t wait for the next one.

A great second book in this blazing series!! There was a lot of revelations in this book, Alice definitely had her world turned upside down. Thankfully she has her blazing knights to help keep her grounded. I especially liked seeing her relationship with Keru and Gabriel grow and be more open and affectionate. I'm not sure how I feel about the potential 4th man in her life, guess we will see how that works out in the next book!
This book is a great sequel that expands on the history of these characters as well as detailing their growth. Alice and the blazing knights relationships are developing. We are seeing the team becoming cohesive with Damon and Clara. The development of the story of Alice’s grandparents. Even the link to Alicia and Alice’s mom. I look forward to Semester 3 as events unfold and The blazing horsemen give Locke and Key something to deal with.
Alice goes falling into the tornado down the rabbit hole
Whats done in the dark will always come into the light. Everything Alice knew is shattered. All the dark lies and secrets are finally coming into the light of truth. I can't wait until the next book, I need to know are Alice, Alicia and Brianne triplets? Their magic is similar yet different. Alice will definitely become a bringer of justice for those who are outcasts.
Wow! This book was so good, I would have to say it was even better than the first. I love how Alice grows in this book and discovers about her past and those around her. I love that she grows as an individual and as head of her group. The crossover was perfect and gave us a great emotional moment. This book made me laugh and cry, as well as, gave me the warm fuzzies. The cliffhanger was super surprising. It is a great continuous story that falls in great with the others in this universe.
This book is really well written with such detail you just fall into the story. Love the main characters, especially ally the beautiful red haired ladies. Great to see more flirting between the horsemen, and the new addition to some characters. Great twists in the storyline kept me on the edge of my chair, awesome cliffhanger ending... going to start the next bookASAP
Avery Avery Avery. How do you do it? This book is amazing! I love you see Alice struggling and having actual problems that she has to overcome. Not just problems in school or with friends but internal and family problems. She completely grows and you get to see it happen. The guye are amazing support systems and im loving that its more of a slow burn cause it leaves you wanting more. Bring on the next one!
