"The characters have been carefully thought out, their detailed personality traits brought them completely to life...A warning before you read the epilogue; it will bring a tear to your eye." -Lesley Jones for Readers' Favorite
What would you do if you had to start over? When Cecelia finds herself suddenly a widow at age 25, she is completely lost, shattered and unable to focus in this painfully new and raw world.
Still caught somewhere between memories and heartache two years later, Cecelia’s best friend urges her to pick up the pieces and continue with the plans she and Charlie had made. Reluctantly, Cecelia agrees and moves to New York to start her life over.
Soon, Cecelia finds herself entwined between Peter, a Swedish art curator, and his brother Mattias, an artist. Swept away in the scenic landscapes of Sweden and Norway, God’s plan reveals itself in massive ways that Cecelia never saw coming. One brother will become her best friend; the other will become the love of her life.
The Weight of Birds is an inspirational romance that will make you think twice about everyday ordinary events! The sequel novella, Still ’s Story is now available!

I loved everything about this book. The characters, the dialogue, the storyline. Everything. I appreciate the author’s ability to incorporate a faith based message into this wonderful love story. Amanda Lewis writes about passion and emotions, which are true to life, without being trashy or inappropriate. I’m grateful to her for sharing her God given writing talent, while being true to her Christian morals.
Transformative! What a beautiful book illustrating how creative and specific God is in our lives. And what a journey when we allow Him to be first. And It’s amazingly better when we pay attention. What opportunities and blessings we receive and give when we step out in faith. It was an amazing first read for me by this author. I will read more books from her! ❤️
What a wonderful book. Cecelia and Charlie have a wonderful lie until the unthinkable happens. As Cecelia starts to heal Peter steps into her life but then life again takes a turn. Mattias steps in, I love their journey and his story. I love that God was there all along, even when people were not love. Most of all I loved Mattias’ story and that of Major Birdie Biddle.
This was one of the most memorable stories I will never forget. Cecelia was a strong women who knew what she wanted out of life. She was amazing, I will never forget her & highly recommend this book.
This story is so well written and engaging. I read it in one sitting, not willing to put it down. It wraps itself around you like a down comforter. And is a story I will remember for a long time.
I truly enjoyed this book! It was so hard to put down! Not 100% sold on the baptism thing... but the rest of the story was wonderful and I'm off now to dry my tears!
Amanda Lewis touches on the turmoil and uncertainty young widow experiences in her premier novel, The Weight of Birds. In this book Cecelia Sweeting had lost her husband and soul mate, Charlie, to a brain aneurysm. She continues their dream and move to New York to open a gallery for her photos. Though Cecelia is lonely and embarks on a new career, she finds she is not alone, but is guided by God’s hand. He had provided for her before she even knew what she needed. Now she must trust God with a new relationship. Peter had become her best friend, but his brother, Matthias, seems to understand her heart’s desires more. If she had to choose between the brothers, whom should she choose? Where would God guide her?
The Weight of Birds exposes the delicate decisions and emotions a young widow would endure. The plot is rich with hope, peace, and trust. God’s leading is obvious, but the unique way God guides Cecelia is sweet. She takes years to understand and recognize the way God was watching over her life. With an edgy precision, Amanda Lewis applies all the elements of a good Christian romance: smooth and seamless action between the characters, the right amount of drama and twists, and the characters reveal their trust in God. The author breathes life into Cecelia and the incredible trials she faces. Overall, this novel fascinated me and made me think about the unique ways God may reveal himself in my life.

The Weight of Birds: A Novel by Amanda Lewis is a book that you will never read similar to this Masterpiece.
The book is filled with the love, friendship, hope, passion, emotional outbreak, struggle, sacrifice, and happiness.
As I started reading this book it took me on an emotional rollercoaster that was well expressed by the author Amanda Lewis and made me fall in love with this book.
The author Amanda Lewis has crafted this book in an impressively and with care. The lucid language and the catchy title are perfect for this story that you will also agree with the author. I love the storyline and the emotional character of Cecilia. The way she turned her life around and find herself is just great to read and very inspiring.
The highlight of the book is the way the author has written this story which is not just a love or passion story, it's both. The story is inspiring and motivational and shows us to never give up.
The ending is the most emotional and the best part of the book, which is expressed beautifully and with a heart-touching manner. It made me cry and I was lost for a few minutes after I finish reading this a truly amazing book.
Overall amazingly inspiring and unique book. So if you want to read an elegant story that will touch your heart and soul then read now.
Disclaimer: I shouldn't have read this book. I don't enjoy love stories. After the first chapter I thought about putting it away but I muddled through. I did like some of the parts where she argued God's existence.
This was a great love story. I haven’t read many books where the main character wanted a relationship with a man that included God. The author manages to fit religion into this love start in a very romantic and touching way. The characters were well developed. I loved this book.
It only took me about a week to read this book. For once, I liked that a book was written in first person. It made it easier to understand her journey through this horrible time of being a widow at such a young age and moving to a new city. I also like that the story leads us to Sweden and Norway, places I’ve never been, but through the story I could imagine them. CECELIA and Peter look like they’re going to be the main couple in the book, but then she meets his brother Mattias and a whole new world opens up to her. The baptism part of the story was a little out there for me, but as a Christian, I understood it.
