Maile Spencer wants to put her first week as tour guide behind her by sleeping in.She doesn't get the chance, though, because she has a skin diving tour to give at Honolulu's famous Hanauma Bay. Her trouble starts with the rescue of a suspicious man that nearly drowns. Lead investigator Detective Ota cares less about him and more about an ancient Hawaiian artifact stolen from a museum, and quickly recruits Maile to help with the investigation. She cuts him a deal, that she'll help with his case if he helps her find the $5000 that has disappeared from her little apartment in Honolulu.
By the end of the week, several investigations have been conducted, secrets are uncovered and promptly hidden again, Maile goes for a late night swim in a swamp, and no one gets much sleep!
Twists and turns in abundance. Lots of characters to keep track of. Looking forward to the next adventure. Might need to schedule a trip to the islands.
I really enjoyed the Hawaiian folklore in this. It did end a little abruptly for me, but I'm sure the story continues in the next book, which I will be reading.
