Barflies #3

One for the Road

Rate this book
Better late than never.

It’s the phrase on the tip of everyone’s tongues. For three years, every staff member and regular at Taverne Toulouse has watched Zach and DeeDee edge their way closer to the grand finale of a ‘will they, won’t they’ dance that feels like it’s lasted for decades.

Bets have been placed. Wagers have been drawn. The whole of Montreal’s most famous dive bar is holding its breath. Will the small town boy with a heart of gold finally make a move on the wild, pink-haired bartender he’s been in love with for years, or will the moment pass them by and leave Zach and DeeDee insisting they’re ‘just friends’ yet again?

A rowdy night at the bar gets served with a twist that sends DeeDee spinning—not into Zach’s arms, but straight into his living room. With his dream girl crashing on his couch for a few weeks and brightening his days with spontaneous dance parties and eventful forays into the art of hair dyeing, Zach’s feelings only get stronger, and DeeDee’s follow right behind.

He calms her storms, and she streaks his skies with lightning. They fill each other’s gaps with a symmetry neither of them can ignore, but every step closer only raises the stakes of losing it all.

Late or never. A choice three years in the making. Their final shot to get it right.

One for the Road is part of the Barflies series, a set of standalone of romantic comedies that chronicle the lives and loves of the staff at a Montreal dive bar.

One for the road, if you are curious alone about the title just grab the book, trust me you'll love what part it plays, because guys this book is so worth a read before you hurry off elsewhere. A total one for the road read, as cheesy as that sounds!

First up huge thanks to Katia Rose for allowing me the pleasure to beta read this baby! I've been dying for Zach and DeeDee to come together since I met them a long freaking time ago so it was an honour to help give you all the support and motivation to get their story to this level of perfection.

Now I get to hit the ARC review for you guys and list enough reasons to make you pick it up!

So DeeDee works with Zach. They're like the two people who are work wife and husband. You get me so you can see how this story will fall so perfectly when they just realize they should be real wife an husband but anyone hitting boyfriend and girlfriend first.

Anyway, Zach has loved DeeDee and her pink hair and crazy dance moves for a while. She's been immune to it until Zach starts to play a bigger part in her life outside of bar they work in.

They both help each other grow and expand their horizons. With fears of not moving forward and secrets they've kept tight forever it helps having someone to finally lean on.

I loved them even more when I read this book. I know you'll love the too even if you haven't met them. They're just those characters you can have a good time with who also have those emotional moments with. They're crazy and chaotic and will pull on your heart strings but every emotion is worth it.

The ending was so satisfying and seeing how they both take actions in their own lives without support too. They build themselves up to be the best versions of themselves before giving themselves away. That is the ultimate story for me. How their love is so strong from a friendship to lovers that they are willing to do anything to make it work.

Fall in love with DeeDee and Zach and past characters of you've met them before in Sherbrooke Stations or the Barflies Series. Or meet them now and fall in love so much you'll have no choice but to go back and read the others!

Katia Rose is the reason as to why I trust and love indie authors. There's so much hidden talent in this community and it's only sitting here waiting to be discovered so go get ready to read!

Thank you for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had the honor of beta-reading this novel, and I that basically means that this is my second time reading this. I loved it, plain and simple. I had so much fun, walking along DeeDee and Zach (kudos to me for not saying "Zach and DeeDee", which is my default, because he's my fave shhh) as they paved the path towards the perfect place in both their lives so they could establish the foundation to their relationship.

I cannot employ enough words to properly express how amazing and important it was to see the way their dynamic evolved (it was still super amazing even in those moments I was gritting my teeth in frustration so yeah, it's pretty special).

Given my enjoyment of these characters in the previous stories, it goes without saying that I was looking forward to reading this. I knew it would be nothing short of delightful. I'm happy to say that, even though my expectations were up to the roof by the time this made its way to my eager eyes, it blew me away all the same. Honestly, reading experiences like this one are what make me love being a reader so damn much.

Many of you are familiar enough with my reviews and ratings, so when I give a 5-star "salute" this is not meant lightly. And, I have added it to MY FAVORITES...

[09/24 @ 08:47pm]

This will sound confusing, but I actually read book #2 of this series first. And, yeah, in my mind's eye and memory, it's book #1. I quickly rewound and located the "real" book #1 and devoured it directly after.

So, book #2 is my most favorite, and in both of the books, there are plenty of alluded moments of DeeDee and Zach. Stepping into book #3 kinda made everything fall back into my mind as if I had never left.

The enjoyment I get out of Katia Rose's atmospheric writing is the fact that it feels so realistic and a downright..."emotion of the moment" type creation. What I mean is, whatever Rose's going through will nearly match what DeeDee, and even Zach, journey down as their stories unfold.

Let me be very succinct. I adored Dylan & Renee's story to such a degree, I still think about them constantly. This one falls in much the same category, but also, it had such an emotional and mental impact.

When we saw DeeDee in the prior books, she felt fun and light-hearted but easily strolling into this became quite an eye-opener. There is so much more to DeeDee, or Denise, than seen on the surface. And that is key to peeling back her onion layers. She WANTS everyone to see the fun party-girl who dances like no one is watching. She packs a wallop once she opens up, though.

Zach was a stunner, to me, as well. For very different reasons. When we see him in the other two books, he feels very one-dimensional. Like his painful crush on DeeDee and being locked in the "friendzone" is one of those popular tropes that never seems to live up to its luster.

I am someone who loves friends-to-lovers and it never fails to let me down on so many levels once they break that wall or boundary and intimacy is introduced.

Something happens here where DeeDee and Zach, inside of their own book as their story unfolds...become so much more than the ancillary minor characters and then they get juicier and juicier as the book advances.

What is the genuine shocker of all... this is such an Adult Romance book it is tough to fathom these MCs are 22 [Zach] and 24 [DeeDee]. My faith in very few writers who actually feel for and deeply respect what they put their MCs through has been restored.

This book is tough to read in some aspects, particularly on DeeDee's side. What is wonderful, heartbreaking, and... done so perfectly, breathlessly real is hard ADULT choices are made with no whiney, miscommunicated dialogue. DeeDee and Zach made tough, awkward choices for the better of making damn sure each got what they wanted out of the other.

Granted Zach still lives in a bit of a fantastical world of a 3yr crush on DeeDee and then getting to have his DreamGirl right in his arms and bed. He is pretty much seemingly DONE for the rest of his life. He feels like the Forever Guy--One & Done. The Permanent One who will fall in love once and possibly only marry once because he's NOT the horndog some young men his age are.

Zach has his shit together, fairly solidly. All he wants now is the woman of his dreams by his side, forever, if possible. And it eventually becomes a do-able thing...until DeeDee faces her own realities and ghosts from the past.

What should be treasured here that we never see in too many Contemporary Romances is somewhat of a rare find. There is actually more in this story than just Zach/DeeDee hooking up. These two crazy kids have separate lives and just so happen to be work colleagues at a bar, and have been really great friends for 3yrs. Zach fell first, but DeeDee may have fallen soon after never thinking she was "right" for a great guy like Zach. It's a mutual friend-finds-friend-attractive and dreams of a relationship.

Zach is a bit more dogged, whereas DeeDee has this strange connotation when she is with Zach, in any capacity...that she is HOME... he makes her feel comfy and safe, warm and cozy.

These two are such great friends but they are even better communicators. They have real discussions, even as friends. So when DeeDee's current boyfriend drops her for his Ex?? Zach is quickly there to swoop in and save her day until she can get on her feet.

Let me break in here with...I like to say Rose is an atmospheric writer because there is something terrific and gorgeous about how she immerses readers into not just the bar scene of Tavern Toulouse, but also really knows her shit about Montreal/Quebec...

But the even better moments of this are when we can see Rose's other couples weave in and out, but they never stumble nor fall from grace. They might be a bit more schmoopy and couple-oriented...but the way they still remain enmeshed within DeeDee and Zach's story had me wanting to go back and re-read their own books [in the right order]. Monroe, especially...which is weird to me because her book was less impressive than #2/#3. But witnessing how she cared for and had compassion for BOTH of her employees, who are also her friends/bar-family...just re-sparked my heart a little.

I will try to stop gushing...but I have to take some time to speak about DeeDee...there is always a vibe with her that is unmatched. Spending time in her head, her POV was probably one of the most inspiring, thought-provoking, and astounding reader-to-MC experiences I have ever had.

Physically and outwardly, DeeDee and I will never match. But inwardly and the healthy emotional and mental explorations she was willing to do...as she had to let go of Zach in order to be a Better Self? I find this one of the most loving and compassionate heroines I have read in decades.

On the surface, DeeDee seems, of course, not like other girls. But deeper on the inside is someone I found myself seeing in my own personal journeys to find who I really am. I still feel like I learn and relearn every damn day.

Not being a better ME, but simply being the best human being I can be...so that I can have healthier relationships in the world.

Again, let me not allow Zach to be squandered here because between his personal struggles with getting his work-at-home e-commerce business afloat...and coping with having DeeDee to then not having DeeDee...and the sage advice given to him when times got tough for him. Zach was a wild wonder I was not expecting to enjoy nor relate to, as well.

This is an unforgettable walk down an overly populated trope that breaks barriers and rises above routine and quaint standards...tears through molds because choices made by Rose to have this story develop and plateau and then take off again...it's a Master Class in How to Write an engaging, thoughtful ADULT [mature[ story.

Let's not even recall there is romance because this can cloud people's ideals, and have them running away in fear.

Most people imagine the Romance genre is nothing but 50 Shades copycats and endless Mommy Porn erotica. Then there are books exactly like this one [and also Book #2] where Rose knows exactly what to serve readers to give a satisfying, proper fulfillment. You almost don't want more because the sheer perfection is enough the first time.

After having to read enough CR copycats--so many DNFs to DUDs...it's refreshing to find authors that love and respect their craft, then offer something of this caliber where it makes you wonder why other writers cannot attempt these types of projects as well.

Again, from the bottom of my old Romance reader heart and grasping my own writer heart, too, in tandem... bless you and THANK YOU for writing this book during such a difficult time as 2020 was for us all.

You, literally, have a fan/reader for life.

I have Book #4, waiting in the wings, and cannot wait to pick it up and devour its own perfections, as well. Paige was such a wonderful character inside this book and to know we will be getting her own story...and just... it'll be kind of secret wish-fulfillment read for me as I once had dreams of being a club DJ...a long, long, long time ago.

Also...let me also state, rather stupidly... this whole series is making me think of my Mom... and all of her siblings, but most importantly it reminds me of my maternal family roots deep within French-Candian bloodlines...my family name is Blanchette . I have such strong suspicions if I did a 23 and Me thing or did my own research on Ancestory.com I would find my familial roots settle in Quebec, but also Montreal. I have so many Great Aunt and Uncles who sound like Celine Dion to my ears...and though I am so out-of-touch with that side of my family, it warms my heart that in small ways I can see a "window" into something akin to an Alternate Life--like a WHAT IF...? So, these books, individually, but also as a set... give me a Life i never knew I wanted to know about and wish to be a part of...so, yeah, thank you for this, too...

[..09/24/2021 @ 12:30am]

Coming in quick to say...why did I wait so freakin' long before jumping back into this wonderful book series from this awe-inspiring Author?

I have been numbed and quite contrite in the last few months of whatever CR I picked up was simply a mirror to the one I read yesterday...and the one I read two days ago...and then the one I will, most likely, pick up in a week. This kind of endless trainwreck of...lost in the sameness of even popular books and their popularized Authors [ones who make it on random BEST ROMANCES of 2021, or whatever pub year]...I became a bit desensitized to the fact I could finally find writers who cared. Or even gave a shit.

Wait... writers who wrote real stories about incomparable characters I want to actually know in real life. Eh, I’ve been away from this book for almost 2hrs and I desperately want to go back.

DeeDee and Zach...uhm, I cannot wait to say a few things about them, inside this book... their story and romance. But I really wanted to say a deep, heartfelt " Thanks! " to Katia Rose for having the cajones to break the molds with this lovely, unforgettable series.

One For The Road, the third installment in the Barflies series.
This book is a sweet friend to lovers romance between a wild girl with crazy pink hair and a sweet boy with a sexy beard. I fell in love with the characters and admired the strong friendship that they have. They are so in tune with one another that their love was inevitable. Individually, they are strong and independent, each with their own shortcomings to overcome.

I loved this author's writing in the past when I binged the Sherbrooke Station series, and I loved it in this book. Her writing style is impeccable and she has a huge talent for storytelling.

at this point, i just know to expect great things from katia rose. i don't read a lot of romance, but i think i've found exactly what i like: anything she writes.

one for the road is a super cute romance about deedee and zach, who have been working together in a bar for a while and everyone else knows they have feelings for each other, but neither of them will admit it.

one thing i really love about these books is that every character is so fleshed out that even if names weren't included, i could still pick out who is who. it's one aspect that makes it just so easy to fall in love with every single person and really become invested in their lives. i feel like i personally know zach, deedee, and every other roommate or coworker mentioned.

it was a little difficult for me to get into at first, but that's just because i was as frustrated as everyone else with the couple's inability to admit their feelings for each other. once both characters started to come to terms with their emotions, i just couldn't put it down. katia rose keeps you intrigued with the romance, but gives the characters enough life that that's not the only part of the plot pushing the story along. they've all got personal issues that they're dealing with, so even without the romance, it's easy to get drawn in by the promise of something interesting happening next.

another thing i love is the romance itself. the problems that zach and deedee face are conceivable and real, not just stupid and easily solved issues like you see in other romance novels. it's just one more thing that makes one for the road easy to fall into; you don't get distracted noticing tropes and getting annoyed by a lack of communication, you just keep reading and hope they figure out a way to get past their (understandable) problems with getting into a relationship.

all of katia rose's books have a unique spin and still manage to feel real. i absolutely love her writing style and will definitely be reading more of her books in the future.

thanks to the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

One for the Road (Barflies #3) takes us back to Taverne Toulouse for the long awaited story of Zach and DeeDee. They are co-workers and friends, although one of them wants more. When an unexpected situation causes DeeDee to have to crash on Zach’s couch feelings start to grow for both of them.⁣

DeeDee was wild, outgoing and the life of the party. You would never expect her to have the demons she did. I really liked how we got to see DeeDee change and grow as a person. It was wonderful to see how she started to trust Zach and really open herself up to him….her past, her mistakes and her dreams. I also LOVED that she knew she wasn’t ready for a relationship…that she needed to work on herself first. It was so refreshing to read about a woman who didn’t put her own happiness & health to the side for the sake of a relationship. Now Zach was a dream. He was solid & strength but in a super cute package. I also liked how he started to stand up and put himself first since he was always put his own wants/needs to the wayside for everyone else. They both needed to really change before they were ready for a real relationship but once they put in the work…they became the perfect couple who balanced each other’s weakness & strengths. Plus they were HOT together. ⁣

This story is emotional at times, frustrating at times (they were so perfect for each other and you just want them to work out) but overall it is a really satisfying & sweet love story of two friends who became something much more. It was witty, steamy and sexy but with real emotions from the characters.Taverne Toulouse and the little bit of French (the language of love) included in this book just added an overall sexiness to the story that I really enjoyed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. ⁣

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. ⁣

I love the entire Barflies series but the story of Zach and DeeDee is my absolute favorite. I have been chomping at the bit for their story. The author weaved their "will they, won't they" saga through books 1 and 2 but finally, Zach and DeeDee's book has arrived!

Zach and DeeDee have chemistry, boy do they have chemistry. Zach has watched DeeDee flirt and date for years without stepping up and vying for her attention. When disaster strikes and DeeDee is out of options, Zach comes to the rescue and she is holed up on his couch.

We learn a lot about DeeDee. She's wild, the life of the party, outgoing, and always ready for fun. What we discover is that our little party girl has some demons chasing her. The author breaks DeeDee down in such an awesome way. We get to learn about her past but it doesn't make DeeDee anything less that the woman she is right now. The author created a strong person, one who knows Zach is who she wants but also knows she needs to be happy with herself before she can truly commit to anyone.

Zach, oh my goodness, Zach. What a fantastic character!. Always there for anyone, especially DeeDee, Zach is the boy next door, sweet, charming and the exact opposite of the bad boys DeeDee typically chooses. His strength, compassion, and understanding nature allows him to fall for DeeDee but pull back when she needed space. We also saw Zach grow. He began putting himself first after so many years of putting his own needs and wants to the side.

Both Zach and DeeDee were flawed, required taking hard looks at themselves and who they were and wanted to be. These two were imperfect, but after all the soul-searching, they were perfect for each other. Zach and DeeDee are my favorite pair from the Barflies series and I will be forever grateful the author, Katia Rose, contacted me and requested a review.

Katia Rose has done it again!

First of all I need to say that I am so glad that Katia reached out to me to read her last release Glass Half Full, if it wasn't for her reaching out I would probably have never read either of these books and I am so glad that I did. Katia knows how to keep you entertained, engaged and wanting more when you read her books. This book was all that and more. Zach is such a good guy. As you know, nice and sweet isn't my typical first choice for most of the books I like to read 🤣🤣 Zach is absolutely none of these bad boy things. He is exceptionally kind, awkward, has a sweet demeanor and is charming. As for DeeDee, one of my most favorite heroines, I have been dying to see her get her very deserving HEA! She is real, relatable, outgoing and has such a great personality. Both Zach and DeeDee are so easy to understand and relate to. I found bits and pieces of me in both of them. I had the absolute pleasure of reading this as both a Beta read and as an ARC. It was so easy for me to fall back in love with these two a second time around. I have been in a strange reading rut for the past few weeks and have been very reluctant to pick up any new books and I am so glad that this was one of those books to help bring me out of that. They are both really interesting characters who you want nothing but the best for. There was nothing I wanted more than for these two to finally be together. This book will forever hold a special place in my heart. If you are looking for a sweet friends to lovers, easy to read, some push and pull, and a little spicy then this is the book for you.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Katia gets me every freakin’ time!! Every time I read one of her books I think it is my favorite until I read the next. She has such a beautiful way with words and has developed these characters in such a way that we truly get to live in their lives. I was super curious about DeeDee and Zack, and I was so excited they were finally getting their own book. I would never in a million years have guessed that Didi was the person that she was behind closed doors.

Katia has the best ability to write about some truly horrific situations and bring them to light in such a beautiful way. She truly helps you feel like you are not alone in the world in the best way possible. Everyone has their own insecurities and I think so many of us could relate to DeeDee and Zach in this book. I know I definitely did.

These two were explosive. From the moment we see them in the freezer I knew this book was going to be spicy. I loved every second of them together, and I wanted to cry every second that they were apart. They had a storybook type romance, and their insecurities really got in the way. I was really frustrated for both characters, but at the same time I could totally relate and completely understood. I truly got everything I wanted from them, and so much more.

In true Katia style, I was super excited to get to see the entire crew in this book. I loved getting to see more of Renee, Dylan, Monroe, and Roxanne. I especially loved the little tidbit of Cole and his insight on relationships. This book was super special and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book and was so excited to read it. I'm a newcomer to Katia, after receiving a free copy of her book Your Rhythm (Sherbrooke Station series). I enjoyed this book so much that I went on to buy the rest of this series and the 2 books in the barflies series. This is news as I don't like to spend too much on books, but I just couldn't resist.

One for the Road doesn't disappoint, it can be read as a standalone, but it makes it so much more meaningful if you've read the other 2 books first. DeeDee and Zachary are so intrinsic to the other titles that they soooo deserved their own book. Admittedly after reading the Bar next door and glass half full I was impatient to read the next book.

As with all of Katias books, it was easy to read, the characters are believable and "real" and the storyline is set at the right place to make you want to read on and not stop because of boredom! I read this book in one sitting, ok it was during lockdown, but you want to read on as putting it down is not an option! This book, from the start, made me smile, laugh and cry (happy and sad tears).

I love all the characters and stories of this, and other series, and I can't wait for the next Taverne Toulouse instalment. If you like a well written romance, that's not just a bit of fluff, give this a go I guarantee you won't be disappointed 😉

One a For The Road – Katia Rose - 3.5 stars

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review *

One For The Road is book three in the Barflies series by indie author Katia Rose. This book is a dual point of view friends to lovers romance that is sweet and easy to read. One For the road follows Dee Dee an over the top friendly, sassy and sweet woman as she tries to find herself after years of living in the dark, and, Dylan the man who is trying to navigate out of the friend zone with Dee Dee and also learn how to say no when the people he loves as for his time. Katia captures what it’s like to live with anxiety and deal with demons of ones past, she touches on how it can affect everyone not just the person suffering but their friends and partners as well. One For The road has banter, steam, friendship and laugh inducing scenes that have you constantly turning the page. It was written in a way that flowed well and had very few pages where nothing happened. I found the love story a little bit strained at times and that the characters didn’t gel in certain aspects, however, towards the end I felt like they were good together. Overall, was a good, easy to read romance that most romance lovers will enjoy.

Enjoy Everyday,

This third installment of the Barflies Series is just what I have come to expect from Katia Rose. She writes good solid stories with great real life topics. I find her writing content wonderful because in every book she seems to make a statement about something I can relate to, in my life now or previously at some point.

This book is about DeeDee and Zach's story and they are cute as can be. The other books in the series have eluded that they may eventually get together. Zach is sweet as can be and comes from a wonderful upbringing. I knew him from Rose's book Catch & Cradle (side note: this book is amazing and easily 5 stars for me). DeeDee is my favorite character in the Barflies Series. She is so fun but also has so much depth. She has had a hard life and she masks this behind her smile and pink hair. In every book in this series she plays a big role of being the person that people just flock to during happy and sad times.

I was happy to see how this book ended and how the MCs grew together as the book went on. I feel like they have a solid foundation for a good relationship in the future. That's always a good note to end on in any book. I always love a happily ever after!!!

One for the Road is LIVE! I couldn’t be more excited to finally share this friends to lovers romcom with everyone. Zach and DeeDee’s story has been a long time coming, and it’s been such an incredible experience to see readers as hyped about it as I am!

One for the Road is the third book in the Barflies series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. I’ve had these characters in my head for quite a while (if you’ve read my Sherbrooke Station series, you might remember that DeeDee made her first appearance way back in Your Chorus) and they’ve kinda stolen the show throughout the whole Barflies series so far. They’re now taking centre stage, and their story is a total ‘sweeps you off your feet and takes you along for the ride’ whirlwind that was SO FUN to write. These two are opposites in so many ways, but they click just right, and there’s never a dull moment when they’re together.

Whether you’re joining the Taverne Toulouse gang for the first time or hopping back into the Barflies world, I would absolutely LOVE to share One for the Road with you!

For those who've read the earlier books in the Barflies series - not to mention the Sherbrooke Station series - you'll be familiar with DeeDee and Zach... DeeDee the wild, pink-haired, bartender of Tavern Toulouse and sweetheart Zach who has been crushing on her for forever... I've been hoping they'd get their story told and told it was!

If you're a fan of friends to lovers stories with humour, heart and heat then look no further! You've got to give this a try... Zach and DeeDee are adorable!

Zach is an all round nice, sweet, and utterly wonderful guy. He has wanted DeeDee pretty much from the moment he met her crazy extroverted self but she's always kept him firmly in the friend zone, refusing to acknowledge to herself how she felt about him because she was always terrified of losing what they had if they took it further.

The book was a wonderful rollercoaster of emotion.
DeeDee and Zach have chemistry and they burned bright! Their story was packed full of life, love, laughter, passion and yearning and I couldn't get enough.

DeeDee surprised me, she wasn't as happy go lucky as we'd been led to believe... DeeDee had issues. She was the perfect example of never judging a book by its cover and while I understood her issues and sympathised with her for them, I still felt annoyed sometimes with how she acted and that's pretty much the only reason One For The Road is 4.5 stars for me instead of 5.
Despite this little niggle, I adored how her feelings for Zach pushed her to get help, to learn to stand on her own so that she would be ready to stand beside him and I loved how Zach respected that, didn't judge her, and waited.
They grew into something special and it made my romance loving heart so happy!
I hope we continue to see snippets of them in future books the way we got to catch up with previous characters in this one.

If friends-to-lovers romances are your thing, you've got to give this a try!

Such a great book! Zach and DeeDee are so perfect together! They complement each other superbly. 👌🏻I loved their story so much, I read the entire novel in one day!
Katia Rose writes such fantastic romance. She is always able to create original stories that are easy to follow and hook the reader from the very beginning. Her book, “Your Sound”, was the first of her work that I ever read and I absolutely loved it! Since then I have automatically gotten any new books she releases because I know that they will be amazing. This book absolutely met that expectation and more!
I don’t want to give any “One for the Road” spoilers away, so I’m keeping this review short and sweet... Read Zach and DeeDee’s story! It’s such a perfect weekend read! While you’re at it, go grab the other Barflies books that are available now! This book, as well as the others in this series, are 5 star reads! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I don’t think love is there to make the hard parts of life go away. I don’t think it’s there to make us forget everything except being happy. I think it’s there to pull us through the hard times when they do show up, to be both the light at the end of the tunnel and the lantern walking beside us.”

When I got the email from Katia about this book I was so excited to be given the option to read it! I’ve been waiting for Zach and DeeDee’s story! And y’all it doesn’t disappoint. I love that everyone from the other books are still in this one. There were times were I was speed reading because I had to know what was going to happen with DeeDee and Zach. Definitely add this book to your list of books to read during this time of quarantine because it’ll definitely help you keep your mind off of what’s going on. This book comes out April 29th, lucky for y’all pretty soon!

One for the Road was the perfect book to finally bring together DeeDee and Zach. I’ve been waiting since book one to see about these two and Katia didn’t disappoint.

One for he Road’s storyline is achingly sweet but also a little hard on the heart. It’s refreshing to see the characters taking care of themselves and not overly obsessed with each other.

Katia also shows how the sweetest and brightest people also are hurting the most. I loved getting to see the real side of DeeDee even all the bad parts. Zach was wonderful of course and their connection was evident from the first page. It was chaotically sexy between these two and fun to read!

4.5/ 5 stars

Katia is a truly sensational writer. It takes a great gift for your craft to share a story with the audience that resonates. And this story so did.

I love the hidden feelings and good natured qualities of Zach. He is truly a wonderful individual that will always take the high road and be loyal to his friends while denying his own happiness. Poor Dee Dee didn't know what hit her until it did. Dee Dee had her own insecurities that brought out more to her history that allowed the readers to fall in love with her and her journey. Also the journey between loving oneself enough to really learn to live another wholeheartedly.

Absolutely Stunning!!

6 STARS if possible

GUYYS THIS BOOK. Okay, so you know how they say don’t judge a book by its cover? Well I did, I fell in love with the name and the blurb, and convinced myself how much I was gonna like it. What I came to find out is that I LOVE this book. I love the characters. I love the passion. I love the love, I love everything about this book. I lost myself in these characters. I just finished it and I literally want to go back right now and start all over again, Zach and DeeDee will steal everything from you. You need to read this book like right now 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was a story that i had been anxious to read because i already loved this pairing from the other books in the series and i had a feeling i would fall even more for them reading their love story. I was right, people! They are and will always be the cutest and most swoonworthy couple of Katia Rose, i adore them and want to give hugs to both cause they are adorable and kind characters. My expectations were matched and i'm feeling all fluffy about this romance.

We've known about Zach's infatuation with DeeDee since book 1, and I love that we finally get the Zach and DeeDee story!

This one takes you on an emotional journey, as we discover things we never knew about DeeDee, someone who outwardly always appears so happy and carefree, and learn more about Zach, who finally gets a chance at the girl he has wanted for so long.

This story had all the feels, and I loved it so much! Katia is one of those authors who somehow creates these characters and worlds that just draw you in, and you never want the stories to end.

Great addition to the Barflies series!

So much more emotional than I expected. But not only that, who knew what lay beneath that mild mannered farm boy facade?

Sparks, feelings and just an honest to goodness wonderful romance.

I love this series.

As much as I love the author, I don't love this book, I don't even like it. It was a meh story for me.
