Written by my friend and life coach @themountainpassway this book shares a model for decision making called Compass Form. Coldwell breaks down decision in three simple parts, Observe, Focus, Act. He uses numerous stories of clients and himself to depict moments of indecision, general stuckness, or lack of clarity and shows how slowing down enough to examine the reality of situation without projected feelings based on false hopes or illegitimate fears gets us to a place where we can actually get things done. And as we get things done we don’t stay static, but dynamically adjust to our reality as it changes, like using a compass in a ship at sea making new decisions with new conditions even while trying to get to the same place we set out to go originally. 138 pages of wisdom, advice, practical help for life decisions, and encouragement for the journey.

Before You Begin by the author Jacob Coldwell is a guide that will teach us how to focus on what matters and live the life we want. This book is for those who want to change their life but are feeling stuck due to some reason. This is the kinda book that I needed very much right now. In "Me and my Stuckness" section, I could very well relate when Jacob mentioned that by rechecking his employees work, he was spending too much time. I have also faced this situation and it frustrates me as a result. For my peace of mind, I like to work on my own and do quality work.

Personal Declination questions are very thought provoking. We can't control life but we can definitely change our approach to life to achieve what we want. This book has rich knowledge that will help you in changing yourself for the better. It was a short read and I have even mentioned important points in my journal. Language of the book is simple and easy to understand. Cover photo is beautiful and title is apt. Overall, it was a worth reading book

I strongly recommend this guide to everyone. Add it in your TBR right away.

A truly enjoyable book

This book is a great place to start. It also points you towards a good direction to get started. It sometimes lacks the clarity of every single step of how to move forward and that may be intentional so you can seek further counsel with Jacob himself. But it is overall a great read with questions to help you build your compass form!

I wanted this to be great… but while there were great stories interspersed, I just couldn’t connect to the ‘message’ or figure out his ‘process’ and got bored.

For how short this book is, that’s pretty unfortunate.
